    ABB Automation Technologies blends a robust product and service portfolio with end user expertise andglobal presence to deliver solutions for control, motion, protection, and plant integration across the fullrange of process and utility industries.

    The Automation Technology Products-division has commissioned 70 KA rectifier unit for HINDALCO and

    this division has launched e-service and a full featured e-commerce website for its products. Automationtechnologies accounted for 35% of FY02 revenues. The segment saw an increase of around 35% inorder inflow.

    ABB Oil, Gas and Petrochemicals supplies a comprehensive range of products, systems and services tothe oil and gas industries, from onshore and offshore exploration technologies to the design and supplyof production facilities, refineries and petrochemicals plants.

    Controls by RBI

    The RBI has always kept a tight control over the exchange

    rate. Some two to three years back, there was a downward

    pressure on the rupee. Although the government and the RBIused to favor a weak INR, they did not want depreciation of

    the rupee to destabilise the real economy and financial

    markets. Hence, the RBI used to intervene occasionally to

    prevent rapid depreciation of the rupee
