DEFINING CHRONIC PERSISTENT HUNGER (CPH) •  Chronic hunger results from insecure food supply •  Affects more than 850 million people globally •  Results from inability to grow or purchase food

•  Responsible for more than 90% of hunger-related deaths in developing countries

•  Hunger and malnutrition kill more people every year than AIDS, malaria and TB combined!

•  Women and children experience the highest rates of hunger owing to gender inequality
