Competition

◦ My main competition in terms of target market would be magazines like MOJO and

NME as they focus on similar music genres to the type of music that I focus on.

◦ Other music genres which may prove to be competiton for the target audience are

rap and pop music, as both are very popular with teenagers. However, it is only very

young teenagers (aged roughly 10-14) that would buy a pop music magazine. My

magazine is mainly aimed at older teenagers, from 15 years old +

◦ This means that my main competition in other music genres would be magazines such

as VIBE.

Magazines with a similar audience

◦ Other magazines with a very similar target audience to my own include NME magazine

and MOJO magazine.

◦ To fit in with these magazines I will be using a similar colour scheme and layout to these

magazines and will be interviewing and featuring similar music artists.

◦ However, to stand out from these magazines I will be featuring a wider range of music

(indie and indie rock) and will feature more on less-known artists, and keep smaller

stories for the more popular artists.
