Lizards are part of a large groupof reptiles, a class of animals with
mostly dry, horny scales. This groupincludes iguanas, chameleons, geckos, monitors, and skinks. Many of themcan leap, climb trees, and swim. One
even runs on water! Some of them looklike lile dinosaurs. Others are like
lile alligators. Some even remind you
of erce storybook dragons. A longtime ago, when people saw lizards likethe bearded dragon, they thought they
were baby dragons! There are over 4,500
species (types) oflizards in the world.
Bet you can’t namethem all!
