We extend a warm welcome to all who attend our church!
Easter Sunday
April 16, 2017
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Alleluia! He is Risen! I pray that the light of Christ’s Resurrection will shine on
you and your families this day. Please also join me in congratulating those who
joined our Church through the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults this Easter.
Welcome to you all!
We always give thanks to God for the gift of our life and the beauty of creation that
surrounds us. Today, on this Easter morning, we offer special praise to the Lord
Jesus Christ for setting us free from the grip of the enemy whose strength we could
not match. Christ has freed us from death, and clothed us with immortality.
Therefore, as we hear in the words of Psalm 136, let us praise the Lord for He is
good, for His mercy endures forever.
Wishing you a very happy and blessed Easter season, I am
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Reverend John R. Gaydos
Bishop of Jefferson City

Reflections on the Readings
The reading from the Acts of the Apostles reminds us that we, too, bear witness to the risen Lord. The presence of Christ is within us, making us new, transforming us, turning us into stewards of the Good News. There is no more time for holding grudges, disliking others, seeking vengeance, maintaining old prejudices, tolerating bias. We are Christ’s joy and instruments of his peace. Our world is reordered. Reflect on how we are called to let Christ’s forgiveness, reconciliation and love permeate our lives. We are Easter people. Rejoice! He is risen! Alleluia!
WELCOME Please welcome all those who joined the church this Easter. Minda Fohey, Amanda
Griesbaum, Jeremy Griesbaum, Gussie Schemwell, Silas Warner and Nena Kaltenbach. All were
sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit and fed with the body and Blood of Christ. May God continue
to bless them with His graces!
Questions of the Week To whom and how do I need to bring the Good News of Jesus’
resurrection in this paschal springtime of grace? How will I bring the reality of having met the
Risen Jesus in word, Eucharist, and others to those who may never have encountered the
transforming power of his compassionate love?

Xavier’s Church in his diocese. Bishop Gaydos has given permission to fundraise $4,000.00.
