be imported into Microsoft Outlook and then synchronized to your smartphone. It takes less than 2
minutes. Go to sgvr.pca.org/Calendar.html for the .csv files and instructions for importing to three
versions of Outlook1. CSV is an ASCII Text format so you can easily verify it’s virus-free.
The file 2018_SGVR_Calendar.csv was last updated on 22 December 2018.
Protecting Your Privacy on the SGVR app
We hope you are enjoying the San Gabriel Valley Region smartphone app. As you know, it lists all the
members subscribing to the app. It defaults to displaying your e-mail address and telephone number.
In early October 2017, a vendor who was also an SGVR member harvested e-mail addresses and began
sending advertising to those addresses, which was contrary to our terms of service. We have received
complaints.

NOW! 3 February 2018 to 21 April 2019, The Porsche Effect at the Petersen
Automotive Museum
Out of the rubble of World War II, Porsche emerged to define the priorities of a new generation of

and significance behind the brand’s distinctive design, engineering, advertising, partnerships, and its
enviable record of racing triumphs. The exhibit encompasses five thematic sections, each of which will
contain a combination of automobiles, artifacts, archival material, image footage, and visual

Porsche 356 Zagato Speedster Misses Reserve
The existence of the Porsche 356 Zagato Speedster was little known, but one of nine was offered for sale
at Bring a Trailer.
From Bring a Trailer
This is the sixth of nine Carrera Speedsters built by Zagato in 2015 and 2016 using Porsche 356 donor
cars. Approximately 80 kilometers (~49 miles) have been added since completion, and the car was
imported into the US after being acquired by the selling dealer in October 2018 from a collection in
Dubai. Power is from a pushrod 1,600cc flat-four paired with a 4-speed manual transaxle, and the
aluminum Zagato coachwork is finished in silver with red fins. The interior features red upholstery and a
Nardi steering wheel, along with green 356 instrumentation. This car is titled as a 1961 Porsche 2 door,
and it is now being offered in Texas with a spare tire and a clean Michigan title.
The car began life as a 356B Cabriolet and now wears an aluminum body courtesy of Italian coachbuilder
Zagato that was completed in 2015/2016. The design is based on a 1958 Zagato project that was
sgvr.pca.org 32 of 40 facebook.com/PCA-SGVR
commissioned by Porsche factory driver Claude Storez, utilizing a 356A Speedster chassis and a Carrera
engine.
Features on this modern interpretation include unique front and rear styling, red-painted rear fins, a
center-outlet exhaust, and a Speedster-style windshield with cut-down side windows. Steel 15″ wide-5
wheels wear 165/80 Continental tires. Note the Zagato tags on the doors.
sgvr.pca.org 33 of 40 facebook.com/PCA-SGVR
The spartan cabin features seats trimmed in red upholstery along with black rubber flooring and
lightweight door panels. A rearview mirror is mounted atop a body-colored dashboard that houses
green VDO instrumentation and a wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel.
sgvr.pca.org 34 of 40 facebook.com/PCA-SGVR
The 1,600cc 616/24 flat-four features a Bosch distributor and two Zenith 32 carburetors, and shifting is
via a 4-speed manual transaxle. The engine and transaxle were rebuilt at the time of the Zagato build,
and their respective stampings are viewable in the gallery.

This Porsche 356 Zagato Speedster went unsold—reserve was not met on 20 December 2018 at 1:13 PM
with a high bid of $ 271,000

4 A 616/2 would be a 75 hp DIN “Super” engine which would normally have a silver fan shroud. That’s a ’62 or later oil filler.

Biathlon Star Koukalová on Comeback Trail
From Radio Praha, by Ian Willoughby, 22-12-2018
Biathlon star Gabriela Koukalová has returned to training after an extended period on the sidelines. The
2017 biathlon sprint world champion missed the Winter Olympics in February due to problems with her
calves and said at the time she could not imagine returning to competition.

However, Koukalová told reporters at the Sportsperson of the Year awards on Friday that she had begun
intensive training and would see in a few months what shape she was in. She said coming back was so
difficult that she had fainted while training.
Note: Gabriela Koukalová [nee Soukalová] has won:
2 silver and one bronze at the 2015 Sochi Olympics
