We acknowledge the Mouheneener People, the traditional custodians of this land on which we gather for worship.

This church seeks to be a place of safety and acceptance for all people.

Mark 10: v35 - 45 Do you know anyone famous? Did I ever tell you how I met my good friend Angelina Zeta Zellweger, who won an academy award for her role in StarZombi Avatar, an Olympic gold medal for diskput and has a Nobel Peace Prize for curing menoebolerceritis? I mean, I don’t like to go on about it but… I’d be lying if I said that it wasn’t fun to have a “Society Somebody Encounter”. Someone that you can “name drop” in conversations at parties. Is it something in our psyche that makes us feel better about ourselves being part of an entourage?.. Actually, when you think about it, it’s a little bit demeaning. This is exactly what James and John are grappling with in this passage. Jesus, at least, is right onto them! And when the other friends of Jesus find out what the sons of Zebedee have asked, they are likely infuriated by their gall, all while “shoulding” on themselves that they didn’t ask the same question first! The simple truth Jesus brings to the floor is this amazing paradox which turns all we know about status and position in this world on its head!
