We acknowledge the Mouheneener People, the traditional custodians of this land on which we gather for worship.

This church seeks to be a place of safety and acceptance for all people.

Luke 21:5-19 “If someone accused you of being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?” I can’t even remember where I first heard that line but the rhetoric is excellent. I bet I’ve used it once or twice. The fact of the matter is, it’s not that hard to be a Christian in Australia. Not in the hills. We are accommodating folk up here. “Well it’s not for me but if its fine with you then that’s fine, right?” And yet, subtly, legislation by legislation, the religious values that this federa-tion was founded on are being whittled away as we are hypnotized into a secu-larized zombie land under the subliminal disguise of political correctness. But whilst the church is pushed to the margins, in oth-er nations the church is forced underground where, as it turns out, it thrives! Our faith began as a minority sect within Judaism, within an empire which had little time or respect for either. The sacking of the Temple in 70AD would have been catastrophic for people of faith at this time yet daily the Christian church flourished, armed with nothing but unyielding devotion to the risen Christ and his mandate of love and service. So as we weather the storms of scientific rationalism, and apa-thetic indifference, persecution is inevitable. So what! It’s just part of the walk… Rev. Michael Duke
