Coverpage – current online system implemented in 2008.  This system stores Forest Practices Plan summary (or Coverpage) data as well as hard copies of plans (since 2011)Notifications – online system for planners to lodge notification information used in preparing Forest Practices Plans and store related correspondence with FPA advisory staff.  The softaware that drives this system is in the process of being updated.Biodiversity Values database ‐ The Biodiversity Values Database (BVD) is specifically tailored to the needs of FPOs and others completing a biodiversity evaluation when preparing a forest practices plan (FPP) for activities covered by the forest practices system. The BVD delivers locality data for threatened fauna and flora species in a user‐friendly way and provides information on threatened fauna species range and habitat descriptions for use in site assessments.Threatened Fauna Advisor ‐ The Threatened Fauna Adviser (TFA) is a decision‐support tool intended for use by those conducting biodiversity evaluations as part of the development of forest practices plans (FPPs) for activities covered by the Tasmanian forest practices system. The TFA will be used in accordance with the procedures for the management of threatened species agreed between the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water & Environment (DPIPWE) and the Forest Practices Authority (FPA), under section D3.3 of the Forest Practices Code Habitat Context Assessment Tool ‐ This tool enables planners to assess the availability of particular habitat within the landscape surrounding a proposed harvest unit. It calculates the predicted availability of a particular habitat within a user‐specified radius from a point locality (e.g. coupe central coordinates). Coordinated Smoke Management System – online tool for managing daily ‘bids’ for

vegetation burn‐offs around the State and for distributing daily allowable burn quantities to burners, after taking forecasted and actual atmospheric conditions into account.  Presently limited to industrial forestry companies and Parks and Wildlife.  Complaints handled by Environmental Protection Authority (EPA)

The Coverpage Manual is periodically updated – Coverpage does have some minor bugs which affect how it operatesAssigning plans – really important for independent FPO’s carrying out work for larger companies where company staff need access to the planSharing plans – within a company the creator or owner of a plan needs to ensure his/her plan is shared with the rest of the group – otherwise it cant be ‘seen’Uploading scanned copies of plans – the FPA needs ready access to the full copies of plans for compliance work. Made a mistake after submitting a draft plan through Coverpage – don’t worry, the FPA can ‘release’ the plan for further editing.Independent FPO’s – need to ensure private clients are aware of their compliance obligationsChanging contact details – please ensure the FPA knows your new details – they are required to maintain proper contact with you and our Coverpage and Notifications online business systems use your e‐mail address as a critical part of their operation.

An extension to the total area to be harvested or reforested under a plan must not exceed 20 ha or 10% of the operational area covered by the plan, whichever is the lesser, provided that the natural and cultural values present in the additional area are similar to those covered by the original natural and cultural values evaluations for the coupe. 

If an increase in area beyond these limits is desired, clearance from the CFPO must be obtained or a new FPP prepared. New evaluation sheets for natural and cultural values will be needed for any variation involving an increase in operational areas beyond the area covered by the original evaluation sheets.
