Camp CreateWe are bringing back one of our favorite camps from our younger years. This camp was a small but extremely fun arts and crafts camp and we can’t wait to bring it back. Our goal is to enter-tain kids and teach them to tap into their cre-ativity as well as learn from their crafts. Each week has a theme such as Around the World, and Nature. During the week each craft has something to do with the theme. This way, the kids can learn while they’re having fun.

Volunteer OpportunitiesThere are many ways to get involved with the PTO. Whatever your talents or interests, there is most likely an opportunity that will work for you. The easiest way to get started is to send us an email ([email protected]) and let us know what you’d like to do.

Included here is a brief description of the pro-grams that we run. We appreciate any amount of time you can give to the PTO. Without your help, we could not exist.

I. Programming Help organize enrichment programs for WES students. Help with Words are Wonderful, Student Author Night, The January Arts per-formance, Field day, and much more.

http://wespto.info/

II. Outreach Build community at WES, though our numer-ous outreach events: Kindergarten playdates, Grade Coffees, Watermelon Welcome, New Family Orientation, Volunteer Appreciation Party

III. Teacher Support Become a room parent, work as the PTO liai-son to the faculty, help with Staff Appreciation Week. There are many ways this committee ensures that the PTO supports the needs of the WES teachers.

IV. Advocacy Help guide the PTO’s mission by Identifying the current concerns of the parent community, help organize parent education forums, attend school committee meetings.

V. FundraisingHelp support all the PTO programming though our various fundraising activities: Clothing Sale, Photo Days, Book Fair, Box Tops, Art to Remember, Walk for WES and Camp Fair!

VI. Communication/PRHelp spread the word about PTO events, through school channels, social media, and lo-cal press.

VII. PTO Board Join the board and help ensure that the PTO remains a vibrant community at WES!

Clothing Sale Something for everyone in this opportunity. Entering its 10th year, this sale is the prima-ry fundraiser for the WES PTO. It is a green fundraiser that benefits the community at large by recycling gently used baby, child and teen

clothing, shoes and other items. WES receives 100% of the proceeds of the sale- a terrific win-win.

We hold 2 sales a year: the mega annual May sale held in the gym, and the smaller booster sale of winter wear that happens in October. To make the sales happen, the team of 4-6 cap-tains rely on volunteers to do everything from sorting donations to mending clothes. We even get the help every year of the 6th grade class, who carry bins, hang clothes and receive a donation for their class trip in appreciation.

How can you get involved with the Clothing Sale?

Donate! Think of WES first when cleaning out closets and give back to the school community by letting the WES PTO resell these items.

Volunteer! We hold regular sorting and pricing sessions during or after school and on weekends. No experience is needed and any help makes a big difference. We often offer babysitting.

Design your own hours! We need peo-ple who can manage our press releases, line up advertising, order supplies, wash clothes, do small mending jobs, and much much more! Any amount of time or any interest can be met with a role in the sale. It only continues to hap-pen thanks to the parents involved!
