THE VISIONTHE VISIONTHE VISIONTHE VISION Christ Community Christian Center Church

Lakeland, Florida

The primary purpose of this Ministry is to teach the uncompromised Word of the Living GOD and to proclaim the “Good News” of Jesus, The Christ, The Anointed One and His Anointing.

My aim remains the same, and that is to be “an effective minister of Christ,” by precept, by example, by teaching the Body of Christ Jesus to walk in victory overcoming life’s challenges and adopting a lifestyle that is above and beyond reproach.

On July 1, 1983, the LORD gave me a vision of born-again, Spirit filled believers that would be governed solely by the principles and doctrines of Christ and the Laws of the Kingdom of GOD recorded in the Holy Bible, God’s Word. Yes, a church-based ministry for world evangelism that would accept and enjoy the inheritance, privileges and promises of the saints that GOD has for her through our LORD, JESUS CHRIST.

All of us working in symphonic union together play an important role in addressing the dynamic challenges of this growing Ministry, meeting the spiritual needs of the “sheep” GOD sends here, and overseeing the operational demands of the Ministry.

In establishing Christ Community Christian Center Church, and in obedience to our LORD, JESUS CHRIST, we “build people of “Excellence, Empowerment, Enthusiasm, and Excitement.” That is our whole intent and objective in submission to GOD our HEAVENLY FATHER.

We shall, therefore, endeavor to maintain the integrity of this Ministry with God’s universal biblical principles and laws and to remain legally right, morally sound, ethically blameless and transparent to the world. These principles will be seen through our Biblical teaching, Christian schools, and outreach ministries.

Let us strive to manifest the same kind of grace, mercy, peace, faith, longsuffering, love, prayer, moderation, self-control, and motivation for service which are displayed by our Great-Example Setter, JESUS THE CHRIST, THE LORD GOD of heaven and earth.

Christ Community Christian Center Church was chartered July 1, 1983 under the name Christ Community Ministries, Inc. We, Pastor Walter K. Laidler, Jr. and Mrs. Carrie L. Laidler, held the first public worship service in our living room on Sunday, November 24, 1983, with seven people in attendance (5 adults and 2 infants).

We met in our home 16 months and then moved to the 2-acre Brunnell Parkway site. Christ Community jointly shared the use of these facilities with Lakeside Church of the

Nazarene (now Lake Gibson Church of the Nazarene) on Sunday, April 7, 1985. With $5,000.00 in earnest money and a promised $50,000.00 to be paid by the time their church was built, we purchased our present sanctuary, fellowship hall, day care building and parking lot for $261,000.00 on November 30, 1987. Since that time, we have grown to over 175 families - - - approximately 500 members, purchased 16.29 acres on the SW corner of Wabash Avenue and Tenth Street and the adjacent 7 acres on Crutchfield Road and Wabash, and the R. J. Blaine Administrative Office Building. In 2003 the Gress family donated 3.5 acre with seven frame houses to the Ministry. The Ministry owns the 26.71 acres outright free and clear.

Christ Community is governed by a self-perpetuating Board of Directors consisting of Elders. It is responsible for the replacement and the election of new members to the Board. The Bylaws requires a vote of the entire membership for approval of the sale of more than 1/3 of Ministry assets and on the election in the future of a new Pastor. The Corporate officers are President (Pastor), Executive Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, 4 to 12 voting Directors, and three Deacons. The Board schedule is to meet monthly, and calls the annual “Meeting of Members” at which time the reports of the Officers are presented and new members of the Board are presented to the congregation.

Christ Community, a Ministry dedicated to excellence, is a non-denominational, non-sectarian (non-dissenting, non-schismatic, non-divisive), non-racial, Pentecostal-Word of Faith, Body of Believers comprising a local New Testament church.

The Ministry owns and operates ---The Hazel Perkins Gray Child Development Center and an After-School Care Program. The Eagles Wings Television Broadcast was an outreach ministry of Christ Community that aired for five years until April 2008.

Christ Community established and controls the Charter to (1) INTERACT Council for Human Development, Inc., a not-for-profit community development corporation which managed Christ Community Christian Academy (K-5th grades) for ten years until its closing on June 4, 2008. It has been the agency that sponsors the USDA Care Food Program for home day care providers of Hardee, Highlands, and Polk counties. (2) Legacy Unlimited, Inc. a for-profit community investment company chartered in 2007.

After the death of his mother at age 2, he lived in a foster home 7 years with Priest Elgin O. and Ruth Cameron Anderson until 1959. After the accidental automobile death of Mother Ruth, his grandmother, Lillie Theresa Jones Laidler took young Walter and raised him in her home. In 1959 at age 10, he became a faithful and active member of Bethel A. M. E. Church in Lakeland under Rev. A. C. Chandler where Robert J. Blaine was Senior Pastor. He earned a diploma from Rochelle Senior High School (1967), an Associate of Arts Degree from Polk

Community College, Winter Haven, FL (1970), a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Vocal Music Education from the Univ. of South Florida, Tampa, FL (1973), and a Master of Divinity Degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, So. Call to the People ..............................................................Pastor Walter K. Laidler, Jr.

Brethren, If there be any of you who know any crime or impediment in any of these persons presented to be recognized and appointed as Ruling Administrative Elders and Licensed as Ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, for which he/she ought not to be admitted to that Office, let him come forth in the name of God, and show what the crime or impediment is.

The Collect.................................................................................... Pastor Hazel P. Gray Almighty God, who by thy divine providence has appointed different Orders of Ministers in your Church, and did inspire your Apostles to choose into the Order of Deacons your first martyr, St. Stephen, with others: mercifully behold these your servants now called to the like Office and Administration; replenish them so with the truth of thy doctrine, and adorn them with innocence of life, that both by word and good example they may faithfully serve you in this office to the glory of your name and the edification of your Church, through the merits of your Son our Savior Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit now and forever.

LEADERSHIP IN THE CHURCH – THE MESSAGE BIBLE

3:1-7, If anyone wants to provide leadership in the church, good! But there are preconditions: A leader must be well-thought-of, committed to his wife, cool and collected, accessible, and hospitable. He must know what he’s talking about, not be over-fond of wine, not pushy but gentle, not thin-skinned, not money-hungry. He must handle his own affairs well, attentive to his own children and having their respect. For if someone is unable to handle his own affairs, how can he take care of God’s church? He must not be a new believer, lest the position go to his head and the Devil trip him up. Outsiders must think well of him, or else the Devil will figure out a way to lure him into his trap. 8-13, The same goes for those who want to be servants in the church: serious, not deceitful, not too free with the bottle, not in it for what they can get out of it. They must be reverent before the mystery of the faith, not using their position to try to run things. Let them prove themselves first. If they show they can do it, take them on. No exceptions are to be made for women—same qualifications: serious, dependable, not sharp-tongued, not over-fond of wine. Servants in the church are to be committed to their spouses, attentive to their own children, and diligent in looking after their own affairs. Those who do this servant work will come to be highly respected, a real credit to this Jesus-faith. 14-16, I hope to visit you soon, but just in case I’m delayed, I’m writing this letter so you’ll know how things ought to go in God’s household, this God-alive church, bastion of truth. 1

Provisional Ruling Elders Proven Ruling Elders

Ministerial Licentiate Candidates

Pastor: Do you trust that you are inwardly moved by the Holy Spirit to take upon you the Office of Ministry in the Church of our Lord Jesus Christ, to serve GOD for the promoting of His glory and the edifying of His people?

Answer: I trust so, with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. Pastor: Do you sincerely and genuinely believe all the 66 canonical Scriptures of

the Old and New Testament? Answer: I do believe them all. Pastor: Will you diligently read and expound the same Scriptures to the people

whom you shall be appointed to serve? Answer: I will, so help me GOD. Pastor: It pertains to the Office of a Deacon to assist the Elder in divine service. And

especially when he ministers the Holy Communion, to help him in the distribution to the saints, and to read, explain and illustrate the Holy Scriptures, to instruct men, women, and children and to baptize those who believe. And furthermore, it is your office to search for the sick, poor, and impotent, that they may be visited and relieved. Have you and will you do this gladly and willingly?

Answer: I will do so, by the help of Almighty GOD. Pastor: Will you apply all your diligence to frame and fashion your own lives (and the

lives of your families) according to the doctrine of Christ; and to make, both yourselves and them, as much as lies within you, wholesome examples of the flock of Christ?

Answer: I will do so, the LORD being my Helper. Pastor: Will you reverently obey them to whom the charge and government over

you is committed, following with a glad ready mind and will to do their Biblical admonition?

Answer: I will endeavor to do so, the LORD being my Helper.

The Epistle ..............................Ephesians 4:7-13 .................Pastor Elouise Robinson Yet grace (God’s unmerited favor) was given to each of us individually [not indiscriminately, but in different ways,] in proportion to the measure of Christ’s [rich and bounteous] gift. Therefore it is said, When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive [He led a train of vanquished foes] and He bestowed gifts on men. [But He ascended?] Now what can this, He ascended, mean but that He had previously descended from [the heights of] heaven into [the depths], the lower parts of the earth? He Who descended in the [very] same as He Who also has ascended high above all the heavens, that He [His presence] might fill all things {the whole universe, from the lowest to the highest). And His gifts were [varied; He Himself appointed and gave men to us] some to be apostles (special messengers), some prophets (inspired preachers and expounders), some evangelists (preachers of the Gospel, traveling missionaries), some pastor (shepherds of His flock) and teachers. His intention was the perfecting and the full equipping of the saints (His consecrated people), [that they should do] the work of ministering toward building up Christ’s body (the church), [That it might develop] until we all attain oneness in the faith and in the comprehension of the [full and accurate] knowledge of the Son of God, that [we might arrive] at really mature manhood (the completeness of personality which is nothing less than the standard height of Christ’s own perfection), the measure of the stature of the fullness of the Christ and the completeness found in Him. (Amplified Bible) .......................

The Gospel.............................. St. John 10: 1-16...........................Pastor William Gray I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, he who does not enter by the door into the sheepfold, but climbs up some other way (elsewhere, from some other quarter) is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. The watchman opens the door for this man, and the sheep listen to his voice and heed it; and he calls his own sheep by name and brings (leads) them out. When he has brought his own sheep outside, he walks on before them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. They will never [on any account] follow a stranger, but will run away from him because they do not know the voice of strangers or recognize their call. Jesus used this parable (illustration) with them, but they did not understand what He was talking about. So Jesus said again, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that I, Myself am the Door for the sheep. All others who came [as such] before Me are thieves and robbers, but the [true] sheep did not listen to and obey them. I am the Door; anyone who enters in through Me will be saved (will live). He will come in and he will go out [freely], and will find pasture. The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows). I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd risks and lays down His [own] life for the sheep. But the hired servant (he who merely serves for wages) who is neither the shepherd nor the owner of the sheep, when he sees the wolf coming, deserts the flock and runs away. And the wolf chases and snatches them and scatters [the flock]. Now the hireling flees because he merely serves for wages and is not himself concerned about the sheep [cares nothing for them]. I am the Good Shepherd; and I know and recognize My own, and My own know and recognize Me---Even as [truly as] the Father knows Me and I also know the Father – and I am giving My [very own] life and laying it down on behalf of the sheep. And I have other sheep [beside these] that are not of this fold. I must bring and impel those also; and they will listen to My voice and heed My call, and so there will be [they will become] one flock under one Shepherd. (Amplified Bible)

The Examination................................................................Pastor Walter K. Laidler, Jr.

The Presentation of Elders You have heard, brethren, in your private examination, and in the holy lessons taken out of the Gospel and the writings of the Apostles, of what dignity and of how great importance this Office is whereunto you are called. And now again we exhort you, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep in remembrance how high a dignity and to how weighty an Office you are called: that is to say, to be messengers, watchmen, and stewards of the Lord, to teach and pre-admonish, to feed and provide for the Lord’s family, to gather the outcast, to seek the lost, to seek justice, and to be ever ready to spread abroad the Gospel, the glad tidings of reconciliation with God. Always have, therefore, printed on your mind how great a treasure is committed to your charge, for the believers are the sheep of Christ, which he bought with his life, and for whom he shed his blood. The Church whom you must serve is his spouse and his body. And if it shall happen that the same Church, or any member thereof, does take any hurt or hindrance by reason of your negligence, you know the greatness of the fault, and also the horrible consequences that will come. Wherefore consider within yourself the end of the ministry toward the children of God, toward the

spouse and body of Christ.; and see that you never cease from your labor, your care and diligence, until you have done all that lies in you, according to your bounden duty, to bring all who are and shall be committed to your charge unto that agreement in the faith and knowledge of God, and to that ripeness and perfectness of age and maturity in Christ, that there be no place left among you, neither for error in faith, nor for viciousness in your life. Forasmuch then as your Office is both of great excellence and of great difficulty, you see how much care and study you ought to apply yourselves, as well as that you may show yourselves dutiful and thankful unto the Lord who has placed you in such a high place of dignity; as also to beware that neither you yourselves offend others, nor be an occasion that others offend. You cannot have a mind and will of yourselves; because that will and ability is given of God alone; therefore you ought to pray earnestly for his Holy Spirit. And seeing that you cannot by any other means do such a weighty work, pertaining to the salvation of a man, but with doctrine and exhortation taken out of the Holy Scriptures, and with a life in agreement to the Scriptures, consider how studious you ought to be in reading and learning the Scriptures, and in framing your manners according to the rule of the Scriptures; and for this self-same cause, you ought to forsake and set aside, as much as you permit yourself to do, all worldly cares and studies. We have good hope that you have all weighed and pondered these things with grace, to give yourselves wholly to this Office, whereunto it has pleased God to call you; so that, as much as lieth in you, you will apply yourselves wholly to this one thing, and draw all your cares and studies this way, and that you will continually pray to God the Father, by the mediation of our only Savior Jesus Christ, for the heavenly assistance of the Holy Spirit; that by daily reading and weighing of the Scriptures you wax riper and stronger in your ministry; and that you endeavor to sanctify the lives of you and your family, and fashion them after the rule and doctrine of Christ, that you be wholesome and godly examples and patterns for the people to follow. And now, that this present Congregation of Christians has assembled here to understand your minds and wills in these things, and to see that this promise moves you to do your duties, you shall answer plainly to these things, we in the name of GOD and his Church, shall demand of you touching the same things.

Pastor: Do you think and believe in your heart that you are truly called, according to the will of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the Order of Elders?

Answer: I trust so with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength, and have so

determined, by God’s grace.

Pastor: Are you persuaded that the Holy Scriptures contain sufficiently all doctrine required that is necessary for eternal salvation, through faith in Jesus Christ? And are you determined out of the same Scriptures to instruct the people committed to your charge, to teach nothing as

required that is necessary to eternal salvation but that which you shall be persuaded may be concluded and proved by the Scriptures?

Answer: I trust so with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength, and have so

determined, by God’s grace.

Pastor: Will you then give your faithful diligence always so as to minister the Doctrine and Sacraments and Discipline of Christ as the Lord has commanded you?

Answer: I will do so, by the help of Almighty GOD.

Pastor: Will you be ready with all faith and diligence to banish, expel and drive

away all erroneous and strange doctrines contrary to God’s word; and to use both public and private admonitions and exhortation to heal those as need shall require and occasion shall be given?

Answer: I will, the Lord being my Helper.

Pastor: Will you be diligent in prayers and in reading the Holy Scriptures, and in

studying to increase your knowledge of the same, laying aside the study of the world and the flesh?

Answer: I will endeavor to do so, the Lord being my Helper.

Pastor: Will you be diligent to frame and fashion yourselves and your families

according to the doctrine of Christ: and to make you and them, wholesome examples and patterns to the flock of Christ?

Answer: I will apply myself to the Word, the Lord being my Helper.

Pastor: Will you maintain and set forward, quietness, peace, and love among all

Christians, especially among them that are or shall be committed to your charge?

Answer: I will do so, by the help of Almighty GOD.

Pastor: Will you reverently obey the chief Ministers, to whom is committed the

charge and government over you, following with a glad mind and will their Biblical admonitions, submitting yourselves to their godly judgment?

Answer: I will do so, by the help of Almighty GOD.

Prayer of the Pastor: Almighty God, who has given you this will to do all these things, enable these Elders with strength and power to perform all you have given to them; so that they may accomplish your work which you have begun in them, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

(Pastor standing, others kneeling) Almighty God, our heavenly Father, whose infinite love and goodness toward us has given to us your only and most beloved Son Jesus Christ to be our Redeemer and the author of everlasting life; who after he had made perfect our redemption by his death, and was ascended into heaven, sent abroad into the world his Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Teachers and Pastors, by whose labor and ministry he gathered together a great flock in all parts of the world, to set for the eternal praise of Your Holy Name: for these great benefits of Your eternal goodness and for which You have vouchsafed to call these Your servants here present to the same Office and Ministry appointed for the salvation of mankind, we render unto You most hearty thanks: we praise and worship You; and we humbly beseech You by the same blessed Son, to give unto all who call upon Your name, that we may continue to show ourselves thankful unto You for all these benefits, and that we may daily increase and go forward in the knowledge and faith of You and Your Son, by the Holy Spirit, so that by these Ministers Your Holy Name may be forever glorified, and Your blessed kingdom enlarged through Jesus Christ our Lord; who live and reign with You in the unity of the same Holy Spirit, to a world that has no end. Amen.

Prayer over each Elder: “The Lord Jesus pour upon you and flow from within you the Holy Spirit for the Office and the Work of an Elder in the Church of God, now committed unto you by the authority of the Church through the imposition of our hands. And be thou a faithful dispenser of the Word of God and of His Holy Sacraments: in the name of the God who is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit. Amen.

“Order My Steps” – Glenn Burleigh, Composer

Some of the words to this song have been change from the original to be theologically correct and in agreement with our New Covenant (New Testament). The believer’s choice to obey God’s Word results on his steps being ordered through obeying the Word. God will not do this for us.

b. One GOD. We believe and teach that there is one GOD, eternally existent in three persons: God as Father (source), God the Son, and the Holy Ghost. (Matt. 28:16-20; John 14:6, 15-18.)

c. The Deity of the LORD Jesus, The Christ. We believe and teach the deity of our LORD Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His bodily resurrection, His Ascension to the right hand of the Father, and the blessed hope of His personal visible future return to this earth to receive to Himself His blood bought Church, that it may be with Him forever. (Luke 4:18-19-the anointing removes burdens and destroys yokes, Isaiah 10:27; Acts 10:38; II Corinthians 2:21; Applications of the Anointing-Acts 8:1-2, 4-6 [1:13,15;2:41; 4:4]; 10:34-37,44; 9:15-19; 10:24-44; 11:19-25; Believers have the same anointing-II Corinthians 1:21; Acts 18:24-28; Mark 16:11-20; Acts 20:24-26; A believer is one who confesses that he believes Jesus is the LORD revealed in the Holy Scriptures-Phil. 2:11 Acts 9:22; 17:3; 18:5 & 28; Eph. 3:1-21)

d. The Forgiveness of Sins. We believe and teach that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Christ. (Rom. 5:12; John 3:16; Rom. 10:9-10; Mark 11:25-25; Eph. 4:32; Col. 3:12-13)

e. The Regeneration of our Spirit, the Salvation of the Soul, and the Redemption of the Body by Grace through Faith. We believe and teach that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal salvation. (Eph. 2:4-9; I Thess. 5:23-spirit, soul, body; John 3:6-8 and Rom. 8:1-14-contrasts spirit and flesh; Rom. 8:23-body)

f. The Divine Healing. We believe and teach that the redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides healing of the human body in answer to believing prayer. (Luke 4:18-19; I Peter 2: 19-24)

g. The Baptism of the Spirit of GOD. We believe and teach that the baptism with the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, with the evidence of speaking in other tongues, is given to believers who ask for it. (Eph. 4:4-6; Acts 10:1-2-Cornelius, a Gentile, vv. 9-17-Peter, a Messianic Jewish, vv. 34-38 & 44-46, also see The LORD Jesus Christ in this section)

h. Sanctification. We believe and teach that it is by the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Holy life. (Sanctified by the Word-John 17:19, 17; I Corinthians 6:9-11; II Corinthians 7:1; Heb. 2:11; Eph. 5:26)

i. The Resurrection of the Saved and the Lost. We believe and teach the resurrection of both the saved and lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting damnation. (John 5:28-29; II Corinthians 5:9-11-judgment seat; Rom. 2:16; 14:10, 12; Eph. 6:8; Rev. 4:10; 20:11-white throne)

My Personal Thanks…..My Personal Thanks…..My Personal Thanks…..My Personal Thanks….. To my Elders, Ministers, Deacons, Helps Workers, Members and Friends,

This Credentialing Program began as the culmination of a two-year Ministerial Training Program for Licensed Ministers through the Ministry Assistants Program of Christ Community. In order to confer credentials and recognize candidates for the Ministry, the Lord expanded our efforts to what you see today. As Pastor, my responsibility is to give Licenses to Ministers because of their obedience and gift to serve others. Since our last credentialing service seven years ago, I forgot what a service of this magnitude involves. Ordination is a Sacrament of the Church – a special time where the Lord Jesus through the Holy Spirit blesses His people. The expense for this service well exceeds $5,000.00 – printing costs (programs, invitations, certificates), frames, food service and hospitality, hours of Bible research, typing, proofreaders, 200 to 250 color program books at one per family, the cost in man-hours, other indirect costs for facility rental, operational demands of the Ministry, and the spiritual needs of the people, including this service today are great expenses. Printing cost: (1) 2-black/white pages at $0.11 per page = $0.22 x 200 books is $44.00; (2) 14-color pages at $0.45 per page = $6.30 x 200 books is $1260.00; (3) folding, stapling and trimming 200 at $0.35 each = $70.00. Total: $1374.00 divided by 200 programs costs $6.87 each.

Having said this, I now find that it would be robbery to not have communicated these thoughts to you. If you find that we have been less than careful in the presentation of data, transfer of information, clarity of thought, typographical errors, and unforeseen needs that we must meet, please forgive me and my wife in our efforts to revise the program from seven years ago. May God give you grace toward us and our Ministry Assistants who helped make this event possible. Any errors of omission may be due to long hours and human exhaustion as we strive for excellence in the work of our Lord.

If the Holy Spirit should speak a Word to you to act or provide a service or underwrite the cost of some portion of this program, if not all of this project, please obey His voice. We need your prayers and financial support.

The driving force behind this booklet was the desire to do everything in an excellent manner. This is our aim, though sometimes we do miss the mark. My staff is wonderful. I have some of the greatest church members in the world in my congregation. I love each and every one of them with my heart. You see, they are my laboratory experiment in the Gospel. If my Gospel is to work anywhere, it must work here at Christ Community first.

Carrie and I thank you for all you have done for us down through the years and we pray for you and your family.

May God’s best and richest blessings be yours this special day and always.
