Over the next couple of weeks, Lily’s column will share a method of praying that was created by Walter Rauschenbusch… Pray out loud; you do not have to yell or scream but it is helpful to voice your inner petitions, the utterance of our wants helps define them.

Lily’s Column

with Fr. Dave:

LAST WEEKEND TO RECYCLE FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS: Our St. Mary KC’s are once again collecting used

inkjet printer cartridges, toner canisters and cell phones. These items are recycled ad the proceeds, paid by recyclers, go to Special Olympics Wisconsin. Drop these items in the box by the

pamphlet rack in the gathering space by June 28 and they will take care of the rest! PARKVIEW DRIVE ROAD CONSTRUCTION: Construction continues on Parkview Drive. As you noticed, two of our parking lot entrances are blocked this week. The construction company has assured us that two entrances on Parkview Drive will always be accessible. The entrance on St. Mary Street will not be

affected by the road construction. It seems that construction is about 1/8 complete. Thank you for your continued patience! PANCAKE BREAKFAST: Stateline Pregnancy Clinic is having a Pancake Breakfast fundraiser on July 25 at Applebee’s in Beloit from 8:00—10:00 a.m. Suggested price is $5.00. Tickets may be purchased in advance by contacting SPC at 608-365-5433 or purchased at the door.

Stewardship: A Way of Life

Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

“...as a matter of equality your abundance at the present time should supply their want,

so that their abundance may supply your want, that there may be equality.” 2 Corinthians 8:14

Not only are we responsible for our own lives, but we are responsible for the lives of those around us. Not only is it important that we grow, nurture and share our gifts, but we should teach our children this same lesson and encourage others to do the same.

Please keep these parishioners and family members in your prayers:

Helen Goerke Jim Jenkins Austin Martin Scot Nelson Val Pakes Gayle Reed Kathy Roberts Brett Urban Ed Windle

WORD OF LIFE: “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was

thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.”

Matthew 25:35-36

Whether the stark beauty of a 10th century chant, the rich

harmonic language of a contemporary Irish work or the rustic sound of a Sacred Harp tune, Angelus finds its voice in the wide range of sacred works it performs. Completely unique among American high school ensembles, Angelus is dedicated to the performance of sacred music of varied religious traditions and historical periods. Their evening concert will be presented on Monday, July 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Nativity of Mary Church, Janesville. The concert is free and a free-will offering will be collected.

Introducing a new section to our weekly bulletin describing the ongoing Councils and Commissions at St. Mary Parish, Milton. Each week we will highlight a Council or Commission to give you a better understanding of each—what they do, when they meet, current members, etc. This weeks focus … Liturgy Commission

Liturgy Commission

The Liturgy Commission is responsible for all liturgical celebrations in the parish. It functions with several committees: The Music Selection Committee

chooses the music to be sung at each weekend mass.

The Environment Committee plans and carries out the decoration of the church for each liturgical season.

The Reading/Reflection Committee reads and reflects on the readings for each liturgical season, and surfaces a focus for each season. These reflections are used by the Music Selection Committee in the selection of the songs, and by the Environment Committee in planning the environment for each season.

This commission also addresses any issues raised by parish members concerning liturgical practices.

Meetings Liturgy Commission meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Ark Meeting Room. The chair, recorder, and prayer positions are rotated each month. Current Members:

Julia Armstrong, Bob Berger, Pat Starr

SALVATION ARMY BELL RINGING: On July 10 – 18, the Salvation Army will be holding our annual Christmas in July Bell Ringing event. We are looking for your help! We need volunteers to take a shift or two ringing bells at one of locations throughout the Janesville and Milton areas. Shifts include 10 a.m., noon, 2, 4 and 6 p.m. Unlike Christmas you do not need to come down to The Salvation Army and pick up or drop off the Red Kettle, it will be locked to the stand waiting for you, with your aprons and bells there also. To sign up to ring bells just go to The Salvation Army website at www.janesvillesa.org and click on the gold volunteer triangle, which will take you directly to the sign in page, or just call Julie at 608-757-8300. GIFTS SHELTER: God Is Faithful Temporary Shelter (GIFTS) is a men's homeless shelter that rotates from church to church, one week at a time, in Janesville. During that time, they assist in referring to community resources, connecting them with appropriate services, and mentoring through an A-Team. The doors open at 6:00 p.m. Open check in is from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Dinner, provided and prepared by the volunteers, at about 6:45 p.m. After

9:00 p.m., a guest must have a police escort to enter the shelter. In the morning, we wake them up at about 6:00 a.m., give them breakfast and they are out the door by either 7:30 a.m. or by 8:00 a.m. depending on the church's needs. This summer/fall GIFTS is partnering with Cross Pointe Church in Milton to be a Host Site. St. Mary's will be a Partner Church to Cross Pointe. St. Mary's will provide meals and volunteers from Sunday night to Wednesday breakfast at Cross Pointe for the weeks of August 16 and October 4. Sign-up sheets for volunteers and food donations will be available soon. If you have any questions, please contact Jessica Locher (GIFTS Church Coordinator) at 608-289-4347 or [email protected]. AGRACE ORIENTATION FOR VOLUNTEERS: Volunteer orientation is Tuesday, July 7 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. and Thursday, July 23 from 1;00-5:00 p.m. at Agrace in Janesville. Call 608-314-2922 to register.
