My dear family of St. Andrew the Apostle! Thank you for helping me reach my goal of $1,000.00 to give alms to the poor children who suffer from so many different kinds of cancer. Thank you to my Brother Knights Joe and Bruce for taking up the challenge as well! And, of course, brave soul Samantha (pictured above with me), who organized our St. Andrew the Apostle St. Baldrick’s event this past Sunday, February 25th for the second year. Brave, brave soul Samantha!!! For me, it’s just hair! St. Baldrick’s honors kids, “Kids with cancer are our reason for it all.” They’re the inspiration behind our event and the reason we’re helping fund childhood cancer research. We believe all kids should be able to grow up and turn their dreams into realities. Rylie D. Age 14, West Hartford, CT, with a diagnosis (June, 2009) of Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Her status is “in maintenance,” and she was treated by the amazing doctors and nurses at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Rylie loves crafting, going to school and playing with her friends. Rylie has an amazing spirit, full of courage and strength. Rylie embraced her hair-loss. She is happy that her beautiful red hair is growing back, but believes that BALD is BEAUTIFUL! Alice G. Age 2, Ft. Meade, MD, with a diagnosis (June 2016) of Neuroblastoma in her abdomen. Her status also “in maintenance,” and treated at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. Her family went to the ER for a GI bug and after a long stressful week found out it was a mass and scheduled for an MRI. Her last MRI marked one year and the tumor has shrank a small amount. Her Oncology team feels that we can move the MRI’s out to every six months now with a hopeful end date of June 2019 so long as scans continue to show improvement. Thank you all so much for your support! In the loving Hearts of Jesus and Mary, Fr. Gregor

It looks LIKE THIS! This is what $1,018.44 of almsgiving looks like! THANK YOU TO ALL who participated!!! Samantha has raised over $3,300.00, and she is very grateful. Her original goal was $5,000.00. IT IS STILL NOT TOO LATE TO GIVE! Please follow this link this week to give — https://www.stbaldricks.org/participants/mypage/961717/2018. It would be great if Samantha could reach her goal!!! Thank you!!!

Thank you to everyone who has already made a pledge to the 2018 Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal (CMAA). Your gi s will benefit so many through the thirty ministries our annual appeal supports. Our parish’s goal for the 2018 CMAA is $76,500. Our hope is that every parishioner will contribute as partners in caring, as every gi — large and small — makes a difference. If we raise more than our goal, 70% of the amount paid over goal will be returned to us for our use. This is an amazing opportunity for our parish! Please prayerfully reflect on your pledge to this year’s CMAA. In-pew envelopes are s ll available in the church, or you can make a gi online at jolietdioceseappeal.org.

New Beginnings is a weekly self-help support group for widowed, divorced, or those going through a divorce as we adjust to our new roles as singles again. Come join us March 20 when we explore “Music and the Brain” with Mary Helen Ekstam from JourneyCare. Music enhances memory and can enrich our life during daily stressors and challenges. Mary Helen has over 30 years of experience in healthcare administration, education, and outreach. While jotting down interesting things on your calendar to do, please join us May 1 to hear storyteller and award-winning author Rochelle Pennington for her Walk Down Memory Lane detailing everyday life during the heyday of phone booths, party lines, and wringer washing machines to name a few fun memories. Join us any time since we meet every Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. (arrive at 7:15 p.m.) at St. Raphael’s Church, 1215 Modaff Road, Naperville. Besides having speakers, we have a rotating schedule of discussions based on the book “Suddenly Single.” Find out more details and any schedule changes at

and view videos for divorced or widowed experiences. Come see if we can be a part of your future.

Intención de Misa

Sr. Jesús José Gómez Diácono Jesse Tagle

Sra. Guadalupe Espinoza

.Tercer Domingo de Cuaresma

“YO SOY YAVÉ, TU DIOS . . .” 2. No exigirás señales. 3.

….. CAMINO A MISA ¿Alguna vez se imagino a Jesús enojado? CAMINO A CASA….. ¿Que desea usted cambiar, al punto de apasionarle? ¿ Que haría?

A Message from Father Gregor, our Pastor My dear family of Saint Andrew the Apostle! The maximum number of years which I can serve as pastor for St. Andrew the Apostle Parish will soon be here, coming up this June, 2018. 12 years goes by too quickly! Ever since Thanksgiving of last year, I have off and on cried, as I myself grieve this upcoming change. I am not all cried out yet either! At the same time there is some excitement in my heart for a new move to a new Parish following the Lord's call and serving a new Parish family. My next assignment will be at St. Patrick’s Parish in Joliet, Illinois. Let us continue to pray for one another in this transition, especially since a pastor for Saint Andrew the Apostle has not yet been chosen. Pray that the new pastor for St. Andrew's will be a loving, caring, kind, and wise pastor. Let us enjoy this remaining time God still is giving us to be together as a family. You are, and always will be, in my heart. God bless you all and together let us always and everywhere Praise the Lord!

Please call the parish office by Monday at (815) 886-4165 x301 for the name of your loved one to be placed for 3 weeks on our short term prayer list. Also, please call the parish office, if you are hospitalized and would like a visit from our hospital ministry team or homebound and in need of communion.

Hospital Visitation of Parishioners Please remember that if you or any family members find yourselves in a hospital, be sure to let them know you are a parishioner at St. Andrew’s. Whenever we priests, deacons or Eucharistic Ministers come to visit, we check the hospital list of parishioners printed under “St. Andrew.” But if you’re not listed as a parishioner of St. Andrew, we won’t know you’re even there! We do not want to miss you! You can always call us at the office, (815) 886-4165 ext. 301. Thank you. May the Lord Jesus be with you all your days, to love and be loved by Him, to honor and serve Him, as He honors and serves us!

A COMMUNITY OF WORD AND SACRAMENT SACRAMENTS OF INITIATION

CATECHUMENATE The Catechumenate is a community which gathers those adults who have not been baptized, and seek deeper insight into the Christian faith.

BAPTISM OF CHILDREN

We joyfully celebrate the baptism of children of Christian households which are joined to our weekly worship, and have active registration in our parish community for at least 3 months. After registration in the parish, please attend an Evening of Awareness, if you have not attended a class in the past two years, to register for Baptism and select a date. Classes are presented on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Baptism is celebrated on the third Sunday of the month at 1:30 p.m.

EUCHARIST AND CONFIRMATION

Formation for those coming first to the table of the Lord as children is infused into the efforts of our school and Faith Formation Office. Confirmation formation is a two year process completed in eighth grade. Please call the Faith Formation Office for more information.

SACRAMENTS OF COMMITMENT
