Pastor’s Letter
April 8, 2018 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I wanted to share with you that my time as pastor of St. Joseph will come to a conclusion on July 3. Archbishop Coakley has asked me to serve as chaplain at Conception Seminary College in Missouri, where I will help to train and form future priests for our Archdiocese and those of other states. Though it is a great honor to be entrusted with this sacred duty, my heart grieves at the thought of leaving you - especially in the midst of the mission we have undertaken and all we have already achieved as a parish family. Please know how much you all mean to me and the deep gratitude I feel for the five years that I have had the privilege of serving as your pastor. As a priest I am called to discern where God is calling me. Although leaving you will be painful, I answer this next call with full trust in His will. Father Thomas will stay on as associate pastor and Archbishop Coakley will soon announce a new pastor for St. Joseph. Transitions often create anxiety, which is part of our human condition. Please join me in drawing upon the same wisdom that the Lord gave to Saint Faustina, who we celebrate today on this Divine Mercy Sunday. That wisdom is summed up in the phrase, “Jesus, I trust in you.” Keep Hope Alive, Fr. Boeckman
Tuesday April 10, 2018 Archbishop Coakley has announced that St. Joseph's new pastor will be Fr. Joseph M. Irwin. As many of you know, Fr. Irwin was raised in St. Joseph Parish. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 3, 2005, and has been a priest in the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City for 13 years. For the last five years, Fr. Irwin has served as Director of Seminarians for the Archdiocese and for the last seven years as pastor of St. Francis Xavier and St. Gregory the Great in Enid and St. Michael's Parish in Goltry. He previously was pas-tor of Assumption Parish in Duncan and began his priestly ministry at St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Oklahoma City as Associate Pastor. Fr. Irwin has also been named Vicar for Priests for the Archdiocese. He has worked closely with Hispanic communities throughout his priesthood. Fr. Irwin says that he comes home to St. Joseph's "with humility and great trust," and looks forward to his assignment beginning in July.
