WELCOME NEW PARISHIONERS
We would like to extend a warm welcome this
week to these new parishioners at St. Timothy:
Samantha Arquette; Christine and
John Decker; Richard and Julie
West;

PRIVATE MASS ASSOCIATION
To accommodate those who wish to have a
mass intention in memory of someone they love
but are unable to get a particular day because
the intentions at St. Timothy have been filled,
St. Timothy now offers a Private Mass
Association where a priest friend of Fr. Ed will offer a mass for
that intention. The intention will be forwarded to the priest along
with the name and address of the person requesting the mass
and the priest will send a note confirming that the mass with the
intention has been offered.
For those interested in this association, please come to the
Church Office.
LIVING ADVENT WREATH
We have a Living Advent Wreath. Please
bring green plants in no larger than a 4” pot to
place on the altar to create a Living Advent
Wreath.
DECEMBER 16, 2018 - 3 - THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT

My deepest thanks to all parishioners of St. Timothy parish
for all you do to increase charity and to take on sacrifice.
Fr. Ed
FROM THE KIDS
Dear God, Instead of letting people die and having to make new
ones, why don’t you just keep the ones you got now?
Jane
Dear God, I went to this wedding and they kissed right in
Church. Is that OK?
Neil
Dear God, I think the stapler is one of your greatest inventions.
Ruth M.
Dear God, In the Bible times did they really talk that fancy?
Jennifer
Dear God, I think about you sometimes even when I’m not
praying.
Elliott
Dear God, I am Amearican. What are you?
Robert
Dear God, Thank you for the baby brother, but what I prayed for
was a puppy.
Joyce
Dear God, I bet it is very hard for you to love everybody in the
whole world. There are only 4 people in our family and I can
never do it.
Nan
Dear God, If you watch in Church on Sunday, I will show you my
new shoes.
Mickey D.
Dear God, If we come back as something, please don’t let me be
Jennifer Horton, because I hate her.
Denise
God, I would like to live 900 years like the guy in the bible.
Love, Chris
Dear God, If you give me a genie lamp like Alladin, I will give you
anything you want except my money or my chess set.
Raphael
We read Thomas Edison made light. But in Sunday school, they
said you did it. So I bet he stoled your idea.
Sincerely, Donna
Dear God, If you let the dinasor not extinct we would not have a
country. You did the right thing.
Jonathan
Dear God, send Dennis Clark to a different camp this year.
Peter
Dear God, Maybe Cain and Abel would not kill each other if they
had their own rooms. It works with my brother.
Larry
Dear God, Please put another holiday between Christmas and
Easter. There is nothing good in there now.
Ginny

Education.” These coupons may be found on many
items, especially General Mills cereals, Progresso Soups, etc.
For a complete list of products, go to

All you have to do is clip the coupons and bring them to church to
be dropped in the bags attached to the food collection boxes.
Dollars raised from these box tops will support the Fruitland Park
Elementary School. Your support of this program is appreciated.
Please clip the coupons (sample above), not a box top. We

BLESSING THE FAMILY CHRISTMAS TREE
Before Christianity came to be, trees that remained
green all year round warded off evil spirits and
were special to people during the winter. It wasn’t
until the sixteenth century in Germany that trees
were brought inside and decorated. When does
the Christmas tree go up in your home or parish?
Continue the tradition by gathering together and
blessing this special symbol.
You may bless the tree as soon as you put it up, or you can wait
until after you have decorated it. When you are ready to do the
blessing, gather everyone around the tree and designate
someone to lead the following prayer.
You will need water or holy water (if available) to celebrate this
blessing.
Leader: Loving God, we stand before you once again. We stand
here ready to celebrate the birth of your son, Jesus.
(Have everyone extend a hand in a gesture of blessing. Sprinkle
water or holy water on the tree while praying the following
prayer.)
Leader: Bless this tree, this sign of life and freshness and
perseverance in our midst. It stands as a reminder that you are
born anew in us each day. Bless our family and friends as we
celebrate this joyous season. Keep us safe in our travels, kind in
our conversations, and gracious in our giving and receiving. We
ask you this in confidence, because we know you love us.
All: Amen.
(Join in singing a favorite Christmas carol, such as “O Christmas
Tree” or “Joy to the World.”)

VENERABLE FULTON SHEEN SPEAKS . . .
Venerable Fulton J Sheen speaks: “He who later
called Himself “the Living Bread descended from
Heaven” was born in Bethlehem – which in Hebrew
means house of bread. And He was laid in a manger – a place
of food – as if to show us that as we have bread for our bodies,
so He would be the Bread for our souls.”

Pope Benedict XVI: “ The answer to the overwhelming question
who am I? is another question.: what gifts of gold, frankincense
and myrrh are you bringing to Christ and to the world?”

A JOURNEY THROUGH THE MASS - ONE DAY RETREAT
On Saturday January 12, 2019 in the parish hall, “A Journey
Through The Mass” retreat will be held from 8:30 AM through
6:00PM Mass .
This day-long retreat will bring new meaning to how one
worships during Mass. The retreat will include songs, videos,
discussions and prayer by various experienced presenters.
Some comments from previous presentations include: “I learned
some things I hadn’t known before”, “Heard so much I didn’t
know”, “Now I see the importance of all parts of the Mass”,
“Although I have learned more about the Mass on my own, this
was a well-structured opportunity to delve much more deeply into
all the different parts of the Mass, and see how each part is
essential and leads to the Eucharistic prayer and communion”.
Retreat ends with 6:00 PM Mass. Continental breakfast and
lunch will be provided. Cost of $5.00 will be taken at the door.
To register please call Mike MacDonald at 352-753-0989 or
email at [email protected] before January 9, 2019
99 WAYS TO EVANGELIZE AS A CATHOLIC
71. Support and promote pro-life agencies and organization.
72. Support charities with wholesome values. Don’t support
charities that do 95% good things and 5% bad.
Explain why … that there are organizations that you agree
with 100% and you prefer to support them.
73. Encourage young men and women not to live together. Be
confident in stating that true love really does wait.
74. Encourage young couples to learn “theology of the body” and
discourage them from using artificial means of birth control
and in engaging in pre-marital sex. The arguments are
compelling from a physical health perspective, a Christian
spirituality standpoint, and in encouraging true love.
75. Go to adult education talks in your parish,. invite co-workers,
family, and friends to go with you. For ideas speak to your
pastor. The Office of Evangelization also has a “Speakers
List” and a Power Point Talks List.
We all need an objective shoulder to lean on.
CATECHISM CORNER:HOW TO EAT AN ELEPHANT
ONE BITE AT A TIME
Article 125 (CCC) The Gospels are the heart
of all the Scriptures “because they are our
principal source for the life and teaching of the
Incarnate word, our Savior.
REFLECTION
St Jerome says “Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ”.
This is especially true where the four Gospels are concerned.
Every effort to know Christ better must include deep familiarity
with Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

PRAYER ON YOUR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
O God, we thank you that you have given us another year of
life together. We thank you for the love which grows
more precious and for the bonds which grow more
close each day. We thank you for the happiness we
have known together; for the sorrows we have faced
together; for all the experiences of sunshine and of
shadow through which we have come, up to today.
We ask for forgiveness for any failure on our part; for any
times when we became difficult to live with; for any lack of
sympathy and understanding; for anything which spoiled even
for a moment the perfect relationship which marriage should be.
Spare us to each other to go on walking the way of life together,
and grant that for us it may be true that the best is yet to be:
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
