1 February 7, 2012 Dear Church Family, Disciple Now is the biggest weekend event we do all year long. We have a dedicated group of lead team members who have been working on this event since early last fall. We have prayed over this event and have sought the Lord on what the theme should be, on who should be a host home, and on what we should do during the weekend. I have spent time trying to find a speaker to come preach God’s Word to our students and a band to come lead our students in worship. God has delivered to us all that we have asked. We now need you to join with us in prayer for the next week and a half. Disciple Now takes place February 17th-19th. Here are some of the things you can pray for as the weekend approaches and throughout the weekend… First of all, I wanted to let you know about our theme for this year. The theme for Disciple Now this year is “Extreme Makeover”. The thought behind this theme is based upon a curriculum that was written that details the change in Paul’s life from when he met Jesus to after he met Jesus. We are going to discuss the before and after pictures of our lives. Pray that our students understand that with Jesus they will be forever changed and that they should show this change through their actions. Second, pray for our speaker this year, John Nix. John joins us from Memphis, TN, where he speaks full time around the country to youth camps and to Disciple Now weekends. He brings a passion for the Bible and for getting students to dig into God’s Word. He will be speaking to our students throughout the weekend and will preach in both services on Sunday morning the 19th. (continued next column) (continued from previous column) Third, please pray for our band this year, “Immerse.” These college students are all from the Baptist College of Florida in Graceville. I had a chance to meet them as they came and led in worship for our Fall Edge retreat for Middle School students. They will be leading us in worship and also serving as small group leaders during the weekend and leading in worship during the second service on the 19th. Fourth, pray for our college leaders that will lead our students through the weekend. Currently we have the following leaders: Hank Taylor, Spencer Higgins, Dominic Higgins, John Austin Cornett, Caleb Wade, Jared Jones, and Anna Moss. As you can see we need a few more leaders, so please be in prayer for them to come in. Pray that these leaders have stamina and a heart to minister to the students they have. Fifth, pray for our lead team who has worked hard and will be working hard throughout the weekend. The lead team this year is: Donna Braswell, Amanda Jones, Emily Mitchell, Ana Hardin, Eric Nompleggi, and Wayne Turner. Lastly, we have many students who have already made a commitment to come for the weekend, but we always want more. Please pray that more students would join us for this life-changing weekend. The cost is $30, and we can help financially if we need to. Pray that the students will be receptive to the message for the weekend, will stay well and safe throughout the weekend, and be changed by Christ because of the weekend. We do need some volunteers who could come to the church from 12:30-3:00 p.m. on Saturday the 18th and assist with a game we will be having. Thank you for praying, Jeff

STETSON BAPTIST

CHRISTIAN SCHOOL by Sheryl Jackson

It seems that days are flying by at a space shuttle rate

(Yes, I know the space shuttle program has been re-

tired).

This past week was our 4th Annual Stack-A-thon.

Emily Turner (8th grade) took 1st place with a time of

3.34 seconds and she has the trophy to prove it. This

competition takes great dexterity as well as skill. I

find it so interesting that students who study and pre-

pare do well. Not many of us learn through osmosis

(my science word for the week). Isn’t the same true in

our Christian lives? We must study God’s word in

order to be winners in Christ (and that would be my

sermon for the week).

Please continue to lift up our school to the Lord in

prayer. We realize this harvest is ready and we know

time is short. In addition to all the education we

teach; we also share God’s love for each student and

parent daily.

We are still collecting Campbell Soup Labels, Box

Tops for Education and Pennies for the Play-

ground. These are year round programs. You may

drop off your donations in the school office. Thank

you for your support.
