Each of these Medicare Advantage plans has a contract with Medicare to offer Medicare Advantage plans. Enrollment in one of these Medicare Advantage plans depends on contract renewal.

How to Join THIPA

Select an HMO Health Plan from the list of Health Plans contracted with THIPA. (see page 31)

**Are You Eligible for Medicare? Enroll in Parts A and BIf not enrolled already, call Social Security or go on-line to enroll at www.Medicare.gov. You will receive your Medicare card and your “Medicare & You” booklet in a few weeks.

Choose THIPA as your Medical Group or IPA. When you choose an HMO health plan, you should select a medical group. To select THIPA as your medical group, you should select a Primary Care Physician from the THIPA (Torrance Health IPA) network.

Look for Your New Insurance Card. Make sure your information and your doctor’s name is listed correctly and that it says “Torrance Health IPA” or “THIPA” on your card. If this information is incorrect, call your insurance company and request that they correct the information. The Member Service’s number can be found on the back of your insurance card.

Contact Your Current Health Plan’s Member Services

The number can be found on your medical insurance card. Tell them that you would like to join THIPA (Torrance Health IPA) and give them the name of your THIPA Primary Care Physician.

Confirm the THIPA Physician’s Code for your Primary Care Physician is being used.

If you do not take this step, you may not be enrolled in THIPA and won’t have access to THIPA’s network of physicians.

Look For Your New Medical Insurance ID Card

Make sure your information and your doctor’s name is listed correctly and that it says “Torrance Health IPA” or “THIPA” on your card.If this information is incorrect, call your insurance company again and repeat Steps 2 through 4.

You Can Switch to THIPA Anytime!

If you are with a medical group or IPA other than Torrance Health IPA (THIPA) and would like to switch to THIPA, you don’t need to wait until Annual Open Enrollment. You can make the switch anytime throughout the year.
