    Article I. Name and Purpose

    Section 1 This organization shall be called Thespian Troupe 6716 of the InternationalThespian Society, a branch of the Educational Theatre Association.

    Section 2 Thespian Troupe #6716 operates under the authority of the Elk Grove UnionSchool District's Franklin High School Associated Student Body and the guide linesset forth by the International Thespian Society.

    Section 2 The purpose of this troupe shall be the advancement of standards of excellence inthe theatre. More specifically, the troupe shall encourage students to attain abetter mastery of the theatre arts and its supporting units.

    Section 3 The organization forbids secrecy; membership to the International Thespian

    Society is given as recognition for meritorious work in the theatre arts and thosepersons are known as "inductees".

    Article II. Membership

    Section 1 Members will be a categorized as interested Franklin High School Students thatare inducted or non inductees, honorary members and the sponsor.1. The secretary will maintain a list of members their member category and

    contact information.

    Section 2 All active student members shall be regularly enrolled as students of Franklin HighSchool.

    Section 3 All active members must have fulfilled the following requirements to apply formembership with the National Thespian Society:1.

    Participated in at least two (2) full-length plays,2.

    Have earned a minimum of ten (10) points, i.e., 100 hours of theatre work.

    Section 4 Final authority concerning membership requirements shall be vested in the troupe

    sponsor, the current Drama Teacher.

    Section 5 Honorary membership may be granted to adults for the extraordinary and worthyassistance in the promotion of the theatre in the school and the community.

    Article III. Governing Board and Officers

    Section 1 Franklin High School Troupe # 6716 officers shall be elected by the sponsor. Theterm of office is for one full school year. That term of office begins the nextschool year following elections. Elections shall occur during the month of May ofthe current school year.

    Section 2 Requirements for all officers are as follows: Each student must be an activemember of the troupe for at least one school year, and at the time of electionmust be enrolled in grades 9-11 with a grade point of 2.0 or higher.

    Section 3 The elected officers are to have the following duties:A. President presides over fundraising activities runs meetings, attends all FTA

    meetings, delegates projects, forms committees, organizes productions,

    thespian club inductions, and club events.B. Vice President performs the duties of President when the President is

    absent, organizes advertising campaigns for each show and events, ex-officio member of committees, runs school-wide and community advertisingplans.

    C. Secretary records agenda and ideas in a binder at each meeting, makescopies, types up flyers, sends invitations, sends thank you notes, and isresponsible for e-mail correspondence when required.

    D. Treasure is responsible for fundraiser money, working at all fundraisers,assisting with seeking donations, funds from businesses, and collecting fieldtrip money and other fees.

    E. Historian is responsible for completing an album for their term in officecomplete with pictures from each production and any documentation of thecurrent year of theatre events.

    H. Student Representative is responsible for promoting and enlisting newmembers to the Thespian Troupe 6716 and heads the committee of studentclass representatives.

    I. An appointed Tech person shall become an ex-officio member of theThespian Troupe Governing Board. This person will be appointed by theclub sponsor.

    J.

    An appointed Stage Manager is an ex-officio officer during each production

    and is responsible to update the Thespian Troupe with status regarding thecurrent production.

    Section 4 The duties of the sponsor will be to oversee all troupe activities, to be the finalauthority in selection of new members and to be the guide and inspiration of thegroup.

    Article IV. Meetings and Attendance

    Section 1 Meetings shall be held once a month, usually after school hours.

    Section 2 Special meetings may be called by the sponsor, any officer, or quorum of theThespian Troupe. Weekly meetings for officers may be necessary. Meetings willbe announced at a minimum of twenty-fours prior to meeting time.

    Section 3 A quorums shall be fifty percent of the active membership and must include twoofficers. Attendance at each meeting will be taken by the Secretary.

    Section 4 Any member, who is absent four meetings per school year or four rehearsalsduring a current production, without an excuse considered valid by the sponsor,shall be dropped from active membership. Any member who causes deliberatedissension, which would disrupt the workings of any production or business

    meeting, shall be removed from the active membership by a vote of two-thirds ofthe membership with the consent of the sponsor.

    Section 5 Any member requesting re-admittance due to suspension must have the consentof the sponsor and two-thirds of the membership.

    Article V. Dues

    Section 1 There shall be no dues for the troupe except as provided by the InternationalThespian Society Board of Trustees, unless determined by a two thirds vote of themembership at the regular yearly election.

    Article VI. Amendments

    Section 1 All amendments to this constitution must have the vote of two-thirds vote of theofficers. The amendment will be posted for review by the Troupe and approvedby the majority at a meeting designated for approval of the amendment. Thisconstitution and its amendments shall be subject to change according to any or allrequirements of the International Thespian Society.

    Article VII. Adoption

    Section 1 Two thirds of those attending the adoption meeting are required to adopt theConstitution of the Franklin High School Thespian Troupe 6716.

    Section 1 Franklin High School Thespian Troupe SponsorUpon adaptation of the Constitution, the sponsor shall appoint the initial Officersof the Thespian Troupe. The Sponsor shall have the authority to appoint eachperson if no students are elected or an office becomes vacant.

    Section 2 Adoption:When interested students forming the Franklin High Thespian Troupe agree to theattached four pages consisting of the Constitution and have been duly recorded asthe framers of this Constitution, it shall go into effect. We, the undersigned,present on this day the Constitution of Thespian Troupe # 6716 and declare that

    this Constitution has been adopted by a majority of all the organizing memberspresent.

    Article I. MISSION -- VISION -- STRATEGIES

    Section 1 MISSIONTo promote the theatre program and shows on the campus of Franklin HighSchool and to develop the advancement of standards of excellence in the theatre

    Section 2 VISIONThrough the Thespian Club 6716 and its members, to develop a group to promoteand educate students about the various activities involved with the theatre and itssupport units and to advance theatre on the campus.

    Section 3 STRATEGIESStrategies involved in supporting the Mission and Vision of the Thespian Troupe

    6716 are:1. Promoting theatre and its shows on campus and in the community,2. Do fund raising to support club and theatre expenses,3. Hosting Fat Cats, an annual awards ceremony honoring related theatre

    activities,4. Helping with maintenance and keeping theatre clean with periodic work

    parties,5. Developing training events for thespian club members to include safety

    training,

    Article II. Attendance

    Section 1 Late arrival to or leaving early from meetings or rehearsals without a reasonconsider valid by the Show Director or sponsor will be de-merited. In addition,three such offenses will be counted as an absence from a meeting without excuse.

    Section 2 Regular school meetings may be held during the lunch periods or after-schoolmeetings no later than 3:10 pm unless special notice is posted as to the change oftime.

    Section 3 Irregular attendances indicates lack of interest; therefore any member absent four(4) meetings per school year without a written excuse submitted to the Secretary,Treasurer, or sponsor the day of, or after the scheduled meetings shall beautomatically suspended from the active roll or membership.

    Section 4 Attendance shall be considered in the point award system.

    Section 5 Absences shall accumulate for only the current school year.

    Article III. Inductions

    Section 1 The time and place of an induction as well as the type of ceremony is determinedby the sponsor.

    Section 2 Only inducted members will plan and prepare the induction ceremony.

    Section 3 Inductions shall be held a minimum of once each year, or as often as deemednecessary by the sponsor. Inductions will be held after the beginning and before

    the end of the regular school terms. An induction ceremony must be held no laterthan 60 days prior to end of the school year.

    Section 4 An inducted Vice-President of the Thespian Troupe 6716 or an inducted officer willbe held responsible for the training of the speakers at the induction ceremony,scheduling and rehearsing said speakers, as well as taking care of the stage andinduction properties.

    Article IV. Troupe ActivitiesSection 1 The troupe is not a secret organization. So, Franklin High School faculty and

    students interested in theatre, as well as honorary members and alumni, shall beinvited to its meetings.

    Section 2 At least one business meeting of Troupe # 6716 shall include an open invitation toall Franklin High School students for the purpose of playing theatre games andcreating improvisations.

    Section 3 The troupe shall sponsor at least one Good Neighbor program a year for the

    purpose of establishing good relationships with dramatic groups in the Elk GroveSchool District. These Good Neighbor programs will include a field trip to anearby school to see a production and visit from a neighboring school to see aFranklin Theatre company production.

    Section 4 The troupe shall cooperate with all other departments and clubs in the school inhelping them with their programs in any way it can.

    Article V. Point Award System

    Section 1 The theatre director/sponsor will determine the exact number of points to beawarded for all theatrical and non-theatrical participation. Projects deservingpoints that are not listed on the International Thespian Societys point system shallbe awarded at the sponsors discretion.

    Section 2 Points will be awarded as suggested by the point system of the InternationalThespian Society.

    Article VI. Elections

    Section 1 Officers announce their interest to be a Thespian Officer to the sponsor at abusiness meeting in the month of April or May for the next school year.

    Section 2 Selection of officers will first begin with a survey by members present at ameeting in May according to the following procedures:

    A. The prospective officers shall be given the opportunity to give a 1-2 minutecampaign speech.

    B. An advisory vote will be taken in secret ballot form of the members presentand the ballots given to the sponsor.

    C. Advisory vote will be reviewed by the sponsor who will make the finaldecision to the election of Officers.

    Article VII. Installations

    Section 1 Officers shall be installed at the Senior Breakfast, the last social event of thecurrent school year.

    Article VIII. Class Representatives

    Section 1 Each grade (9-12) shall have one elected representative. Said representatives willbe elected the first business meeting of the school year. Intentions to become arepresentative must be given to the President by filling out the necessary formprior to the first meeting. The representatives will be elected by the ThespianClub Officers after a brief campaign speech.

    Section 2 The duties of each representative will be to promote theatre and seek newmembers from Franklin High School student population. Each class representativewill hold a meeting every other month of their class peers to determine how theycan promote theatre on campus. This meeting will report to the next monthlymeeting of the Thespian Troupe 6716.

    Article IX. Conflict Resolution

    Section 1 In the event that issues or conflict arises between a Thespian and a Sponsorwhich cannot be solved through communication between the two parties, theissue should be referred to the school administration for resolution.

    Article X. Adoption

    Section 1 Two thirds of those attending the adoption meeting are required to adopt the

    Constitution and Bylaws of the Franklin High School Thespian Troupe 6716.

    Section 1 Franklin High School Thespian Troupe SponsorUpon adaptation of the Constitution and Bylaws, the sponsor shall appoint theinitial Officers of the Thespian Troupe. The Sponsor shall have the authority toappoint each person if no students are elected or an officer resigns.

    Section 2 Adoption:When interested students forming the Franklin High Thespian Troupe agree to theattached eight pages consisting of the Constitution and Bylaws and have beenduly recorded as the framers of this Constitution and Bylaws, it shall go into

    effect. We, the undersigned, present on this day the Constitution and Bylaws ofThespian Troupe # 6716 and declare that this Constitution and Bylaws has beenadopted by a majority of all the organizing members present.
