In order to better facilitate the communication between the community and various constituencies, Communication Design must play a larger role in urban planning. As it stands, communication design (referred to as graphic design) is considered to be a luxury for urban planners. Furthermore, it can eliminate confusion between large civic agencies and the public through the presentation of more clear and concise information. As communication design begins to take on a more prevalent role within this arena, we can begin to dilute the silos that are a part of these complex relations (economic, political, social and cultural).
