Virginia Langley’s third collection with Brintons brings music & dance to carpet

design. The Ciranda, a traditional Brazilian dance comprised of vivacious &

hypnotic movements, creates an inviting environment of harmony & grace.

With freestyle brush strokes & bold painted textures, Virginia has simulated

these rhythmic dances into expressive patterns.

Brought to life in a variety of detailed layers, The Ciranda collection is a

contemporary abstract interpretation based on the thriving trends of

simplistic textural styling. These tones and textures overlay into blended

fashions with silhouettes of organic, industrial, & technologically inspired

shapes, giving a dynamic combination of modern & sophisticated elements.

“ Whether is has been to Europe, the Islands of Fiji, or to South America; the

many places I have been fortunate to visit have traditional dancers adorned

with flowing fabrics, natural grasses, & sometimes local flora. To me, dance is

a time to be expressive & creative by following a rhythm to feel light-hearted

& free. I hope these designs bring these feelings & atmosphere everywhere

they go.”

Pantone 2015 Color of the Year, Marsala, brings vivacity & spirit alongside

deep steel grays and warm tones of rust. Hints of olive harmoniously melt

with neutral sandstone with highlights of deepened degrees of titanium white

emphasizing rhythm & flow in vibrant designs.

Virginia Langley has more than twenty years experience in digital, graphic, & textile design, as well as conventional fine art.

She began her career with BBDO Advertising Agency after completing graphic design qualifications, and then joined Ned Graphics working on printed textiles. She has worked internationally with many prestigious companies including: Laura Ashley, Marks & Spencer, Ralph Lauren, Hugo Boss, Covington Fabrics, & Waverly/F. Schumacher designing fabric & wallpaper patterns.

Fine art is another avenue Virginia loves to work in. She paints mainly contemporary abstracts, wildlife, and equestrian-themed works. Virginia has won Best in Show at numerous exhibitions, as well as having her paintings featured and sold in galleries from South Africa & the United States. Virginia travels internationally every year to research design & color trends in hotel, residential, & fashion markets. She then creates fresh designs from these inspirations.

She lived in Cairo, Egypt for a year and in China for six months, designing for local textile manufacturers.

Langley founded Sky Designs, Inc. in 1995, continuing freelance work for various international clients. She later established Sky Rugs, a company specializing in unique handmade leather and hide rugs. These have been represented in high-end showrooms such as: ABC Carpet & Home and Patterson, Flynn, & Martin. The company was later sold to New York based company, Garrett Leather, Inc.

She has recently designed her own line of wallpaper and launched her first collection in collaboration with Astek, Inc.

In 2014, Virginia began her partnership with Brintons, translating her timeless design collections; Camelia Rose, Arenzano, and Ciranda, into woven Axminster carpet that is sure to inspire for many years to come.
