SRM Quantitation (Scan Event 1)MS/MS Confirmation (Scan Event 2)
QED-MS/MS of an Herbicide MixQED-MS/MS provides simultaneous quantitation and structural confirmation inmetabolite identification or multi-residuescreens. Chromatograms at left show a multi-residue screen of a pesticide mix using posi-tive/negative switching and QED-MS/MS.
With the ability to perform HighlySelective Reaction Monitoring (H-SRM), the MS/MS data is cleanerand less complex, making it easilysearchable against a built-in libraryfor added confirmation duringscreening assays.
A related innovation is the reversedenergy ramp (RER) feature, whichallows the user to create libraries that are searchable on TSQ Seriesuniversally. The same library can beused in a laboratory in Shanghai,
China, and in Somerset, New Jersey – this is a first for triplestage quadrupole-based MS/MSstructural identification.

HESI-II Heated Electrospray Ionization Source A design evolution, the HESI-II delivers greater desolvation and improved nozzle performance. The HESI-IIcan efficiently handle flow rates higher than 1mL/min while maintaining superior low flow ratecharacteristics with optional use of gas assisted thermal desolvation.
A cleaner nozzle profile improves electrostatic fields which results in a singleposition that works for most flow rates.
These improvements make the HESI-II the most versatile elec-trospray design on the market.
Improved heater design for betterdesolvation at higher flow rates
Contoured tip for stable low flow performance

High Speed Zero Cross-TalkCollision CellA long standing tradition of TSQcollision cell design has been thefact that they have had zero cross-talk. Cross-talk usually occurs whenthe instrument is set to scan veryfast, resulting in residual signalfrom the previous SRM transition
appearing in the subsequent SRMchannel when the product ion hasthe same nominal mass. This leadsto false positive responses. The collision cell design allows the TSQ Quantum Access MAX to perform SRM scans at the fastestpossible scan speeds, while ensuring zero cross-talk.

Fast Polarity SwitchingBeing able to carry out multi-residue screen-ing and quantitation simultaneously in bothpositive and negative ionization modes canreduce LC/MS analysis time by half. Thefast switching power supply of the TSQQuantum Access MAX allows posi-tive/negative switching at ≤ 25 ms, allow-ing the instrument to capture high qualitydata in positive and negative ionizationmodes simultaneously. This is of significantvalue when analyzing multiple classes ofcompounds in one sample that require ion-ization in both polarities.
3000 Timed SRMsFurther improvements in productivity arisefrom the ability of the TSQ Quantum AccessMAX to perform up to 3000 Timed SRMs (T-SRMs) in one scan event. Using T-SRMs,the mass spectrometer is able to divide allthe SRMs into individual smaller batcheswithin a fixed chromatography timescale. Inthis way, less time is wasted scanningwhere there are no peaks, resulting in bet-ter data quality and improved sensitivity dueto reduction of the cycle time and/or anincrease of the individual scan time.
