the need to know about money • The subject of stewardship is more important

than most folks realize!

– We study this subject because the Bible says more about stewardship than it does about faith, water baptism, repentance, heaven, hell, and the Lord’s supper.

• Most people are forced to think about money every day.

– Thus, God teaches us how to think about and deal with our blessings. 1 Corinthians 4:2

•Why do most people believe this myth?

•Is more always better? Luke 12:15

•Is the desire for more of something always wrong? Mt. 25:14-ff; Col.1:9-10

•Is it because they want to believe it? Proverbs 21:2

•What does this attitude usually lead to?

•Coveting, greed, avarice, being deceived?

•The profit of the earth is for all! Eccl. 5:9

there’s more pain in more money • Riches kept brings hurt not joy! Eccl. 5:13

• Punishment is NOT joyous. Prov. 28:20

• Most people don’t like the “greater responsibility” that comes with it. Luke 12:48

• More money is not really always, “more in the bank”. Eccl. 5:11 “Spigot effect”

• Achan was aching for a treasure and lost everything because of it! Joshua 7:21, 25

Understanding that More is Never Enough Ecclesiastes 5:13

there’s no real joy in never enough money • “He who loves money will not be satisfied

with money, nor he who loves wealth with his income; this also is vanity.” Eccl. 5:10 – There’s no real joy in NOT being satisfied with

what God gives us. Nor in the insatiable appetite that greed incurs.

• God gives us exactly what we need, & what we can handle, to serve Him the way He wants! Jeremiah 17:10 – Truth is, there is real joy in being content with

what we have... 1 Timothy 6:6-8

Ecclesiastes 5:10 Understanding that More is Never Enough

coveting more leads to sinful snares

• Because people will use sinful methods to attain riches, but they will pay in the end.

– By oppression and robbery... Psalm 62:10

– Some murder for goods... Proverbs 1:10-19

• Covetousness keeps one out of heaven! 1 Corinthians 6:10

• Instead of more money, one needs the true God, righteousness, and wisdom! Proverbs 3:13-18; 8:17-21

there’s true joy in faithful stewardship!

• Be a good steward of your soul and be saved today! Romans 3:23; 1 Tim. 2:3-4

• Come to God by obeying the gospel of Christ:

– Hear & believe it! 1 Cor. 15:3-4; Rom. 1:16-17

– Repent of your sins! Acts 2:38

– Confess Jesus! Acts 8:37

– Be baptized into Christ! Rom. 6:3-6; Eph. 1:3
