Therefore Go…

Testimonies from November 2012

Hi there

Although I have been sending newsletters once a

month for almost 9 years, some months are bit more

difficult to some up than others. This newsletter is

perhaps the most difficult newsletter I have had to write

thus far.

Thank you so much for praying for my mother-in-law,

Hiromi, and for my family here in Peru. On Saturday 17th November, God in His sovereign

wisdom purposed that it was time for her to join Him in heaven. It is really hard to

understand why God does the things He does sometimes, but our part remains to trust in

His divine goodness and faithfulness.

Thankfully she was able to spend her last two weeks with us at home and so much of my

time during this time was spent accompanying her and trying to look after her and bring

her cheer the best I could. Thankfully my ministry schedule was flexible enough to allow

me this time during the day while Jaime, his dad and his brother had to return to work.

Hiromi was a devout Christian and together with my father-in-law, had a passion to see

families restored and living in the fullness of joy and purpose that God has for them. They

spent much of their time ministering together in various churches and conferences.

At her funeral, person after person testified of how they had come to know Christ

through her life and ministry—so many seeds that she had sown, but yet at the same

time, I am sure she was probably so unaware of the fruit they had borne. I was reminded

yet again of the tremendous way that just one person’s life can impact the lives of so

many others.

God in His grace has given our family much peace and we are slowly adjusting to our

new normal. Please pray that God will give me extra wisdom so that I can be a support

to Jaime, his dad and his brother at this time.

On a happier note, Jaime and I had our latest gynae appointment last Thursday and

baby is doing really well and is growing strong. We also found out that we will be having

a little boy, so we are really excited about that . I have started a pregnancy blog that

has photos and updates of how my pregnancy is going.

I also want to thank you so much for walking alongside

Jaime and me in the ministry we have been called to in

Peru. It is always a joy to share our victories with you, and

we so appreciate the love and support in the more

difficult moments. Please know that your friendship,

prayers and support are making a big difference in this

part of the world!!!

May God bless you and show His faithfulness to you and

your family

Much love

Kim and Jaime

At the beginning of November Jaime and I were invited to go to the province of

Ayacucho to help with the “Fe en Accion” training there. After a 12 hour bus ride and

a very motion-sick me, we arrived safely in Ayacucho. Over the 4 days we were there, we held four different training sessions in three different towns.

It was incredible to see how committed the young people of Ayacucho are to see their

communities transformed. On the Thursday we travelled to the town of Huanta, where

over 30 youth, all under the age of 18, gathered to attend the training. They are part of

an organisation that works with families displaced by the violence during the years of

terrorism in Ayacucho. This organisation is run almost entirely by the young people

themselves. It was inspiring to hear the testimonies of some of the great things they

have already done in their communities.

On the Sunday, Jaime and Carlos travelled to the town of Tambo to equip some of the

youth there. These young people live in a very rural community and so it is a real

challenge to adapt the materials so that they are

relevant for their context. Unfortunately I had

eaten something that did not agree with me,

and so was bedridden for that day. On the whole

it was a successful trip. The team will be returning

in early December to continue to the training.

Faith in Action...

Saints in Cells...

.

We have continued to have challenges in our prison

ministry this month. Two weeks ago we managed to

submit our request for passes to get into Piedras Gordas

prison to visit the girls there. As yet we have had no

response, but we are hoping to hear this Thursday.

Unfortunately over the last two weeks the prison guards have been on an indefinite

national strike demanding a wage increase. Consequently we have not been able to

get into Santa Monica to see the girls there either. This is usually such a special time of

year in which we organise Christmas parties for the ladies etc. Please trust with us that

the strike will end soon, so that we can get in to visit the girls.

At the end of this month, Pam Tullman, who has been serving with me in Fatima Prison,

will be returning to the United States. She is hoping to return to Peru as a long-term

missionary sometime next year, but is trusting God for open doors. Please trust with us

that God will open up the right doors for her. Please also trust with us that God will

continue to add people to serve alongside with us in this ministry.

At the moment our team is back down to three again.

In the Communities... Due to various unforeseen happenings over the last few weeks, it

has been about two months since I have last been able to visit

the Simon Bolivar library. Yesterday I found out that Señora Leonor, the lady who runs the library, has been have a difficult time in her family and is no longer able to continue

serving in the library. She has handed over the responsibility to a number of youth from

the community that I have yet to meet. I am really hoping that I will be able to

coordinate with them soon so that I can return to the library to see the kids there. Please

pray that we will be able to find a time that works well for both groups.

Jaime and I would love to hear from you: please write to us at [email protected] or you could

call on +51 990 50 1552. My skype name is kimmysol.

Please trust with us that the prison strike will be over soon and that our team will be

free to enter both Santa Monica and Piedras Gordas prison. I am also hoping to

connect with some ex-inmates this coming week. Please pray that this will be a

significant meeting.

Please keep Bianca in your prayers as she travels to Peru in mid-December.

Please trust with me that I can return to the Simon Bolivar library soon. Please also

pray that the Señora Leonor will come to know God more deeply in this difficult

time.

Please continue to pray for our family, that even though we might not be able to

understand His ways, may knowledge of His love and faithfulness fill our hearts.

SA/Peru mission 2012... While Jaime and I were in South Africa in October, we were

blessed to have the opportunity to meet Bianca Joseph from

the Every Nation Church in Stellenbosch. God laid it on her heart to come to Peru for a month on a scouting mission and

to see whether there was any opportunity that the church in

Stellenbosch can play a greater part in what God is doing

here in Peru.

It has been amazing to read her testimonies of God’s faithfulness in providing for her.

She will be with us from the 18th December until the 15th of January and will be visiting

the various community projects we are involved in, the prisons and hopefully will be

able to join a mission trip to the jungle.

Please trust with us that this will be a significant time for both Bianca and for us. God has

caused our paths to cross, may He continue to direct our steps.

Please pray...
