Then and Now - Can You Count The Cost?

We saw it all happen, live on TV,We all watched in horror, this just cannot be!

The towers both fell, in shock we all cried,A unified gasp. How many have died?

Unanswered questions have flooded our heads,Such great agony! And so many Dead!

Anger? Resolve? Immeasurable fears!Prayers now ascend with unending tears

Chaos, destruction and cries all abound,We all search for answers…but none can be found.

Why did our God allow such a thing? Was it for our evil His judgment did bring?

“Twas not my hand that brought you this wrong!”“It hurts my heart too, that you can’t get along.”

“You fight and you hate and you kill one another,Know you not I’m your Father, and you are all Brothers!”

But that’s not the answer we wanted to hear,Hatred replacing now most of our tears.

“Vengeance is mine,” said the Lord…NOT THIS TIME!We’ll handle this one! We’ll punish this crime!

We’ll kill those who hate us, a message we’ll send,We’ll just go to war, We’ll fight to the end!

For years now we’ve fought, but what have we won? We’ve only lost more of our daughters and sons.

There’s still suicide bombers and trained Taliban,Osama’s still hiding in Afghanistan.

Our solders are dying, we’ve many troops lost,But what ground have we gained, tell me? And Tell Me The Cost!
