Welcome to the “new” Lindab Direct. Lindab is now in a major innovation phase, with the launch of new product solutions together with new and simpler ways for our customers to make their purchases. It felt natural, therefore, to choose “innovation” as the subject of the fi rst themed issue of Lindab Direct.

Our distribution is being developed across all of our business areas. One fascinating example of this is Ventilation’s new Flexi Shop concept, which is really making life simpler for our customers through round-the-clock opening and easily accessible warehouses. We also have the opening of the fi rst Building Components branch in Germany, and of course our continuing focus on the expansion of Rainline Centres in the CEE.

Greater proximity, stock keeping and avail-ability are key parts of our goal to simplify construction. So is the development and launch of interesting new product solutions. There are lots of exciting things happening in this area right now as well, with a number of signifi cant launches.

The Ventilation business area will shortly be launching the next generation of chilled beams, Premum and Premax, and through our new system Pascal, we are introducing for the fi rst time a VAV solution with the potential to truly realise demand-controlled and energy-saving indoor climate. Within the Building Components business area, our new SRP Click roof system combines simple installation with an attractive appearance, while the combination of solutions from both the Building Components and Ventila-tion business areas bring benefi ts to passive and low-energy housing projects using our Construline lightweight construction system and the Lindab Safe duct system.

The Building Systems business area is also launching interesting products: a new system for integrated roof drainage – Inside Gutter, as well as a concept for the construction in steel of effi cient, economical multi-storey car parks.

In the UK, Ventilation’s new MBB plenum box was recently awarded an industry prize, while our circular duct system was similarly recog-nised in the USA. I would like to express my thanks to all employees who are enabling us to continuously strengthen and improve the offer-ing to our customers.

We find ourselves in a diffi cult economic climate. This makes simplifi ed construction that creates customer success even more impor-tant. That is why we are continuing to work tire-lessly to do everything possible to develop new products and solutions that simplify, streamline and facilitate the daily work of our customers.

I would like to fi nish by thanking all of our customers for the past year, and as we head towards 2012, I can promise further customer focused and interesting initiatives from all of us at Lindab.

LINDAB SR DUCTS was honoured in February this year with a certifi ca-

tion from the Air Movement and Control Association International in USA. “This is a pleasing acknowledgement that airtightness and quality are a winning formula when it comes to duct systems,” says Hans Berger, the recently-appointed President of Lindab USA, who has worked within Lindab Building Systems over many years. “The test results that form the basis for this important certifi cation confi rms the industry-leading airtightness offered by SR ducts, as well as the system’s exact toleranc-es. This certifi cation is also important for our customers. This will now help them to sell Lindab duct systems as a route to energy effi cient green construction, improved indoor climate and high quality duct installations.”

During the year, Lindab USA has also strengthened its presence in the USA through agreements with two new distribu-tors: Collins Walker Inc. in Dallas, Texas and the Air Products Equipment Company in Elk Grove, Illinois. “These new partnerships will clearly strengthen our position in northwest Texas and the Chicago area,” says Dave Shaeffer, Vice President of Lindab USA.

“MARKET LEADING properties in a small ‘package’ make Lindab’s MBB

plenum box a project simplifying, fl exible and

reliable method for achieving professional and energy effi cient air distribution.” That was the jury’s verdict when MBB received the British industry’s HVR Awards for the innovation it represents. “This award is obvi-ously very positive and undoubtedly shows that our efforts within innovation and product development are right on track,” says Iain Robertson, Lindab.

IN THE SPRING OF 2011, Lindab made two acquisitions that offer

considerable benefi ts for customers of the Group’s Ventilation business area. In May, the Belgian company Airfl ux was acquired, which in recent years has become known for having developed an innovative new concept with unmanned branches. Added to this was the acquisition of the Danish ventilation sup-plier Juvenco, which strengthens Lindab’s leading position in Denmark through a new range of fans and air curtain systems. SHOP 24 HOURS A DAY, ALL YEAR ROUND“Being close to customers is a key part of our business model and Airfl ux’s successful concept with unmanned branches that are open around the clock, all year round (24/7) is something that we are now developing fur-ther, not only in Belgium but also in Lindab’s

major markets,” says David Brodetsky, President and CEO of Lindab. “This brand new distribution concept, Flexi Shop (see page 6), is a cost effective way to signifi -cantly increase our market presence, while giving customers the freedom to choose when to shop and at locations that are easily accessible.”

Airfl ux has sold Lindab products on the Belgian market for several years, and

through close contact with both installers and consultants, the company has devel-oped an understanding of the market’s demands as well as a high level of technical competence. “Through this acquisition we will signifi cantly strengthen our presence in Belgium. We have already opened a brand new Flexi Shop and there are even more Shops in the pipeline,” says Dirk Van den Branden, Lindab Belgium. “Not only will this increase Lindab’s sales outlets here from one to six by the end of the year, we can now offer our customers a more complete and appropriate product offering.”

TIME-SAVING SUPPORT“With acquisition of Juvenco, we are en-hancing our product portfolio considerably and are also developing Lindab’s position as a ventilation wholesaler in a natural way,” says Dan Stjernegaard, Lindab Denmark.

“This means new interesting product solu-tions within fans and air curtain systems, and through Juvenco’s 36 years of experience a strengthened technical capability. Now we must make best use of the synergies that this acquisition offers, and thereby contribute to our customers’ success.”

DEVELOPING AND strengthening Lindab’s ability to contribute to cus-

tomer success is a key issue. The Ventilation business area has been working on this for some time, and a key fi gure in this fi eld is Mats Gärdfors, who since the beginning of 2011 has been sales and distribution man-ager for the business area. Mats has vast experience of customer-oriented business development from his earlier positions at Carrier, Profi lgruppen, Isover and others.

How would you describe the develop-ment work at Ventilation? “All efforts that increase our ability to enable customer success are based on a genuine and sound knowledge of the actual customer need. This is also the reason why we implemented a major customer survey, involving more than 4,000 custom-ers, yielding a response rate of as much as 25 %. We are located in a number of markets with customer needs that can vary from region to region. It’s not about fi nding a solution for everyone, but about formulating region-ally tailored offerings that truly satisfy local needs.”

How did you conduct the survey? “We let our customers consider a number of statements about our products, solutions and services, our administrative routines and their relationships with us. The survey was conducted in all our markets and created an invaluable knowledge bank that can actu-ally be used for analysis down to customer level. During the autumn, regional intensive efforts have been started to assess what specifi c improvements should be prioritised. How ever, we have already managed to discern one very positive result – 74 % of our customers are pleased with our offering!

74 % customer satisfaction sounds very high, is it not enough? “Sure, we could stop at that, but we have chosen instead to

take the bull by the horns and ask ourselves ‘how can we get our remaining customers to be equally happy?’. Our major focus right now is to implement the measures that the customer survey focused on, country by country, region by region and problem by problem!”

What areas do you see as particularly important? “The customer survey is an important part of our long-term, systematic efforts to adapt to regional needs, and once the analysis is complete I will be happy to tell you about the various measures and pro-grammes that will be undertaken. Distribu-tion however is an area that we are already

working on intensively. We don’t just want to increase our presence, we also want to create additional opportunities to purchase our products. Our new Flexi Shop self-service stores (article page 6) are already operating successfully in Belgium and will shortly be launched in more and more markets. This initiative will provide greater fl ex-ibility for many customers, enabling them to control their working day. The ability to purchase from a branch

or via a web shop already exists of course, but the additional channel in the form of Flexi Shop makes us utterly unique in offering our customers the full range of options!”

We interview Mats Gärdfors, sales and distribution manager for the Ventilation business area

Knowledge provides opportunities

KNOWLEDGE FIRST Mats Gärdfors and Camilla Andreasson, communications manager for the Ventilation business area, highlight the importance of understanding the needs of each individual market. “Our customers are different, they work differently and face different challenges in their respective local markets. We want to put a smile on all our customers’ faces, but to do so we must fully understand their needs, and that’s what we’re working on right now.”

“FLEXI SHOP IS a great complement to our existing manned branches,” says David

Brodetsky, Lindab’s President and CEO. “It is fully in line with our goal to make life simpler for our custom-ers and to give them the best service. Because Flexi Shop is open 24/7, customers can plan and manage their collection of goods when it suits them best. In parallel with Flexi Shop, we are also opening more new manned branches in France and Sweden. In addition, the Building Components business area is entering the market in southern Germany.”

WELL DEVELOPED CONCEPTThe Flexi Shop concept has been developed by the Belgian company Airfl ux, which was acquired by Lindab earlier this year (article on p.4). “In 2009, Airfl ux opened its fi rst self-service warehouse aimed at ventilation contractors,” says Dirk Van den Branden, Lindab. “Following the acquisition, we have continued to develop the idea together and can now present the brand new Flexi Shop self-service concept for Lindab customers in Belgium with Germany following shortly.”

PICK, SCAN AND GO“Once the customer has signed a Flexi Shop agree-ment, we send them bar-coded ID badges for their personnel,” explains Dirk Van den Branden further. “The badge acts as a key to the completely un-manned Flexi Shop. After identifying themselves with the badge, the customers can drive into the shop, pick up and scan the products that they want. When

they are fi nished, they can then review their purchas-es and print off a delivery note using one of the Flexi Shop terminals. All that’s left is to drive off. It really couldn’t be simpler!”

SHOP WHEN IT SUITSFlexi Shop offers a wide standard range of ducts, fi ttings and other parts, but by pre-ordering prod-ucts such as fans and special ducts, these can also be collected in special ‘order boxes’. “That way, the customer can make their purchases exactly when it suits them,” concludes Dirk Van den Branden. “The number of Flexi Shop contracts is now growing strongly here in Belgium and we are clearly seeing that the freedom and benefi ts offered by the con-cept is something that suits many installers. You do not have to worry about opening hours, you have a good overview of the assortment and can easily plan and prepare for the following day’s work. Many new customers have also highlighted the advantage of avoiding self-storage.”

MORE MANUAL BRANCHES“The expansion in France is continuing with a com-plete Lindab branch in Bordeaux and a ‘partnership’ branch in Lille,” explains Pascal Gelugne, Lindab. “Bordeaux and south-western France, plus Lille and northern France, have been blind spots on the ‘Lindab map’, but now we can offer complete Lindab Ventila-tion solutions there as well. Bordeaux is highly active industrially and is a growing region, with, for example,

Efforts to develop and strengthen Lindab’s distribution and service continue. The new Flexi Shop self-service concept is now being launched in the Ventilation business area; the Building Com-ponents business area is making serious inroads into Germany, while in France, Sweden and Slovakia, proximity to customers is increasing thanks to new manned branches.

24/7 nowadays applies to more than the fi re brigade, police and ambulance services. Round-the-clock availability,

seven days a week, is increasingly becoming a feature of daily life. Lindab’s new Flexi Shop self-service concept is about

precisely this – the ability to shop and acquire goods just when it suits the customer best, even if it is three o’clock in the

morning. Flexi Shop is arguably the most exciting development regarding proximity and openness, but the opening of

manned branches is also continuing unabated.

the aircraft industry and the famous wine industry.”

The branch in Lille is a collaboration with an existing, well-established distributor that is now opening its entire network to Lindab. “We can now support the national growth that is taking place within circular, airtight ducts, where Lindab Safe is one of the lead-ing systems,” concludes Pascal Gelugne.

In Sweden, a new branch has been opened on Gotland and this will shortly be followed by another. Both are complete Lindab branches.

LINDAB CENTRE IN GERMANYTo date, the Building Components

business area’s sales in the German market have been limited to northern Germany.

“We have recently opened the doors to a new Lindab Centre in Nuremberg and can therefore also offer Lindab’s complete roofi ng solutions to southern Germany,” says Mette Brøndum, Lindab. “Not only does this region have the greatest share of tradi-tional builders with saws and screwdrivers, Lindab’s assortment and range of colours also fi ts very well with the region’s architec-tural style. In addition, we have moved our production to Lindab’s Central European plant in Prague, which offers perfect trans-port logistics.”

HUGE INTERESTThe new Lindab Centre is housed in premis-es that already carry a distinct Lindab hall-mark – the existing Lindab Ventilation branch in Nuremberg. “We have seen tremendous interest in Lindab’s range of products from the builders, roofers and hall-constructors that we have met,” says Hannes Maurer, one of the sales representatives for Lindab Nuremburg. “Our new customers are noting the benefi ts to be had from fast delivery times and from a product range that is per-fect for Bavaria.”

The Lindab Centre in Nuremberg is the fi rst step in a strategy aimed at spreading Lindab’s roofi ng solutions to more and more parts of the German market. Within the CEE, this development has happened at break-neck speed and almost 100 Lindab Centres are now scattered throughout the region. In Slovakia, for instance, the eighth Lindab Centre has recently opened.

OPEN 24 HOURS A DAY, ALL YEAR ROUND With the new Flexi Shop, customers can choose when they want to collect their goods. Customers open the door using a badge, identify themselves, choose and load the goods they need. The Flexi Shop symbol will undoubtedly become a familiar feature in many of Lindab’s markets.

in brief

BERGA KULLE, just to the south of central Linköping, is one of NCC’s current housing projects demonstrating a green and environmentally-friendly approach. The project consists of 24 two-storey townhouses in eight buildings. The build-ings require just half of the energy consumption indicated as standard in the Building Regulations issued by the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning (BBR). They are therefore classed as low-energy buildings and, ac-cording to NCC’s own energy rating, as “Highly effi cient”. This is partly explained by the use of Lindab’s slotted steel studs in the wall elements, as well as an air-tight construction. But the steel studs represent just a small proportion of the Lindab products used in the project, both visible and invisible.

QUALITY ASSURED COMPLETE SOLUTIONEcodo is behind the solution that NCC has chosen for Berga Kulle, a new construction company that focuses on healthy, effi cient construction and has so far mainly built passive type housing. “Our concept is based on the prefabrication of all wall sections, which are designed to meet the energy require-ments set by the customer,” says Jan Segerström, Ecodo, who is responsible for the deliveries to Berga Kulle. “We also handle the transport, lifting and installation at the construction site right up to the weather-proofi ng of the roofs and facades and can give the customer a complete, quality-assured delivery.”

“I had already made contact with Ecodo and became inter-ested in their modular steel solutions,” says Ingmar Åstrand, site manager for NCC. “With this solution no organic materi-als are built into the construction, the use of slotted steel studs minimises thermal bridges meaning that the walls can be constructed with reduced U-values . The houses feel bet-ter, just like the people living in them.” COMPLETE LINDAB DELIVERYThis has really been about a complete Lindab Delivery: prefabricated wall elements based on Construline lightweight construction, RdBX interior wall studs and Coverline roof and wall profi les. Furthermore, there will soon be Rainline roof drainage on all roofs, and even the duct system is Lindab Safe, purchased and installed by Skanska Inneklimat.

“We had an open dialogue with Lindab and NCC right from the outset. Lindab’s technical support has undoubtedly played a major role throughout the process and we have worked together on various improvements,” concludes Jan Segerstrom. “From our fi rst passive house project involv-ing Lindab, we saw how the quality and functionality of our solutions could be improved by adding more products from Lindab’s range. Together with Lindab, we are continuously discovering new operations that can be improved and how new component solutions and methods can be developed. By being able to work on these issues, we are also able to

Healthy housing

Lindab has supplied Ecodo and NCC Berga Kulle with a very comprehensive “product package” for element production, roof drainage and facades and complete home ventilation for the 24 low-energy townhouses for the subcontractor Skanska Inneklimat.

Reduced energy consumption and modern alternative building techniques – without organic

materials in the construction – were guiding principles when NCC chose the construction

method for 24 townhouses in Linköping. The answer was Ecodo’s building system, with

prefabricated steel elements based on a selection of Lindab solutions.

EASY LIFT Once the elements have been produced in the factory, the virtually fi nished wall elements are transported to the construction site where they are lifted quickly and smoothly into place.

ONE WEEK “The element production and as-sembly for Berga Kulle has included many new and interesting elements, which were certainly new to most people,” says Jonas Bengtsson and Patrik Månsson at Ecodo,” and to assemble approximately a townhouse unit for three town-houses each week really does appear effective.”

develop entirely new and far more effective and energy effi cient building systems.”

THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT“Ecodo’s system is a really great idea, but there are obviously things that can be developed and improved,” adds Ingmar Åstrand. “For example, we would like it if the windows and doors could be already assembled upon delivery, and some other remaining elements to be simplifi ed. An increased degree of prefab would certainly make the solution even better. We have had many study visits to the building that that have been fascinated by this new steel technology. I am convinced that Ecodo’s ideas about more effi cient construction and reduced energy consump-tion have a bright future.”

FULL FLEXIBILITY The new Premum and Premax chilled beams are equipped with JetCone, a patent-pending Lindab solution employing cone-nozzles that enable the air quantity to be controlled easily and fl exibly in 40 precise steps.

theme: innovation

FLEXIBILITY IS BEING demanded more and more, in a broader set of contexts. Chilled beams are no exception. Chilled beams initially blew straight out, then in several direc-tions and then came beams that spread air in a sunfl ower pattern. “The reason behind this development is of course the need to easily adjust the beam to different operating situations and changes in the room’s layout,” explains Göran Hultmark, Lindab. “However, the problem was that although the fl exibility increased, it was not entirely simple to make adjustments in the actual beam. You often had to move the nozzle plugs around in the beam’s nozzles to obtain the desired distribution pattern and air quantities. The fl exibility therefore came with limitations, which was something we were aiming to over-come when we started the product development of the next generation of chilled beams.”

LINDAB’S NEW Premum and Premax chilled beams are unique in offering true fl exibility with regard to both air volume and air diffusion patterns.

“Our patent-pending JetCone technology means that the air volume can easily be controlled in ten clicks through the discrete controls in the four corners of the beams. For exam-ple, if you ‘click’ the air volume down three steps in one corner and up three in another, the overall air quantity provided by the beam remains constant, making readjustments simple and straightforward,” explains Magnus Jacobsson, Lindab.

A well-known problem with chilled beams is that the air noz-zles through which the air fl ows often reduces the air velocity, which in turn results in lower effi ciency. “Since a chilled beam works by inducing the room air, you want to maximise air ve-locity and therefore ‘use’ energy optimally. This is exactly what we have achieved with the new JetCone solution that is found in both Premum and Premax,” continues Magnus Jacobsson.

“THE ACTUAL AIR DIFFUSION is also extremely precise and totally unique, and is controlled using our new AirGuide solution, which is also patent-pending,” continues Göran Hultmark. “The air pattern can now be adjusted easily in four steps in eight areas by sliding the beam’s defl ectors in or out. The installer can easily choose a suitable diffusion pattern us-ing various predefi ned combinations of settings.”

Premum replaces the existing Pilot and provides an output for normal cooling requirements, while Premax is suitable for more demanding operating conditions. Each beam carries an easy to understand adjustment diagram that acts as a simple crib-sheet for the various default settings. “Premum and Premax provide market leading fl exibility combined with simple and convenient operation,” concludes Magnus Jacobsson.

During the fi rst quarter of 2012, Lindab will be launching interesting new product solutions within indoor climate technology. The new, fl exible Premum and Premax chilled beams allow optimal and easy adjustment of both the air volume and the direction of air fl ow. The Pascal VAV system, a new solution where the full VAV poten-tial can be realised for the fi rst time.

Simplicity and fl exibility have been important guiding principles for the development of Lindab’s

new Pascal VAV system, as well as for the new and latest generation of chilled beams, Premum and

Premax. Read about new and interesting innovations for simplifi ed construction in practice.

WHEN IT COMES TO energy saving indoor climate technology, VAV systems (systems with Variable Air Volume de-signed to the actual needs) are a rapidly emerging solution. “The basic idea is obviously good, to regulate the air fl ow in order to maintain the correct temperature. But designing, dimensioning and adjusting a VAV system presents a number of chal-lenges and problems,” explains Anders Vorre, Lindab. “You have to ensure that the installation maintains constant pressure, which needs precise dimensioning and perfect balancing of the system, and is therefore rarely accomplished. Too much pressure leads to noise problems and too little results in less effective ventilation and poor comfort. Now, we are changing all this with the new Lindab Pascal VAV system, offering consultants and installers a much sought after simplicity in the entire process.” This is made possible since the system automatically regulates the air fl ow in the installation even if the pressure var-ies. It completely eliminates the need for pressure regulation in the system.

Existing VAV systems not only require accurate planning and design, the actual commissioning is extremely complex and can rarely be performed by the installer’s own personnel as this require advanced computer knowledge. It is therefore not surprising that few VAV system actually live up to the promised comfort and energy saving benefi ts.

“WITH LINDAB PASCAL, the full poten-tial of VAV technology can be realised for the fi rst time,” says Göran Hultmark, Lindab. “It provides energy saving solutions, based on stocked standard components with simple planning, instal-lation and commissioning. Pascal is quite simply the fi rst – and so far only – solution in the ventilation industry that provides these benefi ts.” Pascal is based on a development of the MBB plenum box, which has been motorised and combined with a LCP/LKP diffuser. This has created a solution that provides correct air fl ow regardless of the operational situation.

The Pascal system also includes control equipment in the form of Regula Master and Regula Combi. “In addition to the sim-ple design, installation and commission-ing, the stocked standard products make life so much simpler for the installer,” con-tinues Göran Hultmark. “When we have presented Pascal for different customers, the most frequent comment is ‘when can we get it?’. That’s undeniably positive and promising!”

WITH PASCAL installed, the system is commissioned simply by entering the actual values into the Regula units, us-ing an easily understandable instruction guide. “Even in its default confi guration, the system function performs really well, but by spending a few additional minutes for each Regula Combi, Pascal can be adjusted to provide optimal VAV perform-ance,” concludes Jesper Laursen. “Pascal then controls the fan speed perfectly, balances the exhaust fl ow according to the level of supply air and provides what we call ‘operating control’, i.e. self-mon-itoring controlled by the system. We’ve been asked how it is possible to make something so complicated so simple, but when you work to the motto ‘We simplify construction’ it comes naturally!”

TIGHT COMFORT Hans Davén, Lindab plus Bo Lidström and Lars Erlandsson at e3-hus gaze upon the new SRP Click-roof at Ryssviken’s preschool with satisfaction.

RYSSVIKEN’S PRESCHOOL is the fi rst Swedish delivery of Lindab’s new roof system, SRP Click. The choice of SRP Click by the contractor, e3-hus, has a rather special explanation in this particular case.

“One reason is simply that Ryssviken’s preschool must be moveable, since the planning permission for this two-storey building is only temporary,” explains Kjell Wikman, consultant at Preconia, who was involved in the selection of SRP Click. “It therefore must be possible to dismantle the vast majority of components, and SRP Click clearly falls into that category. We are actually recommending more and more Lindab products in the e3-hus projects that we are working with, and the arrival of the new SRP Click product was very timely. Good technical support with regard to design and product selection and a wide product range makes Lindab a wise choice.”

COMPLETE ROOF IN TWO DAYSThe installation of SRP Click on the approx 550 m2 roof went quickly and smoothly. The roof sheets were delivered in factory-made lengths, standing upright in crates which could be lifted up onto the roof. “Three men lay the complete roof

in about two days, which surprised not only us but also the client at Nacka municipality,” says Lars Erlandsson, e3-hus. “Once we had fi tted the fi rst sheet, the subsequent sheets were clicked together very easily. Everything worked great and Lindab’s clear assembly instructions were easy to follow. The result looked really smart, very much like standing seam roof-ing, and fi ts perfectly on a roof like this.”

The longitudinal clicks-locks on the sheets works down to 14° roof angle, as opposed to traditional standing seam roofi ng with its double-seam, which can be laid with almost no angle. The delivery also included Rainline roof drainage with rectangular gutters, as well as products from Lindab’s Roof Safety Programme.

STEEL STANDING SEAM ROOFING is one of the most attractive and appealing roofi ng coverings available, always with an unmistak-able hallmark of the tinsmith’s professionalism and ability to get the sheet metal to elegantly follow the most stubborn of roof surfaces. “There will always be a market for standing seam roofi ng and the skills required to do it, but that does not prevent the development of new product alternatives,” says István Kotormán, Lindab. “Together with Sweden, Hungary is the second Lindab market where our new SRP Click roofi ng system has been launched. This clickable roof profi le is not intended as a competitor to PLX standing seam roofi ng, but as a highly attractive yet easily mounted complement to our other existing roof profi les.”

SRP Click is supplied in two profi le heights, 25 and 38 mm, and consists of a smooth metal sheet measuring more than 7 m in length and roughly 50 cm width. SRP Click is also available in “design- versions” with 2 intermediate longitudinal decorative and strengthen-ing stiffener ribs.

STRONG RECEPTIONThe production of SRP Click is now fully under way in Hungary and the launch on the local and surrounding markets took place at the Hungarian construction fair, Construma, in April. “We encoun-tered a great deal of interest, both from the retail side and from designers, architects and installers,” continues István Kotormán. “Up until August, we had delivered 10,000 m2 of SRP Click roof pro-fi les. Most of the deliveries have been made to Hungary, but some signifi cant projects have also been to other CEE markets such as the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and Croatia. In light of the tough economic climate in the CEE, we view this as very promising. There are numerous construction projects where roof shapes are simpler; projects requiring quick and easy installation and where the budget is simply not enough for a conventional standing seam roof done by hand on site. SRP Click is then a great option, and one that we also hope the tinsmiths will be positive about.”

A SMOOTH, MAINTENANCE-FREE gutter that is easy to assemble and withstands the sun’s rays and the ravages of time would be a good thing. “That was how we reasoned when we set about developing the new roof drainage system,” says Robert Francois, Lindab. “We wanted to create a perfectly sealed uni-form system that fi ts all of our steel building systems and which, importantly, has insulating properties cor-responding with the actual building’s standards.”

Lindab Inside Gutter consists of a complete system of components with gutter, ends and pipe connectors. By covering the entire gutter with heat-welded TPO, Thermoplastic Polyolefi n, a completely even and smooth membrane is achieved. Due to its high resistance to UV rays and its longevity, TPO is a material that is used widely throughout the automo-tive industry. Inside Gutter is available in insulated and uninsulated versions and can be fully adapted to the insulation level selected for the individual steel build-ing. TPO also provides high chemical resistance and is an environmentally sustainable material.

INTEGRATED SOLUTION“This solution gives our customers signifi cant advan-tages with regard to installation, construction and op-eration, while it is also able to offer investors a secure, perfectly sealed and virtually maintenance-free roof drainage system,” continues Robert Francois. “When

we developed Inside Gutter, one of our goals was to create a system fully adapted to and integrated with our standard design solution, so as to give our Build-ers a simple and straightforward assembly. Now we have done that!”

“I see Inside Gutter as a key step in our continu-ing product development for our business area,” says Lars Franzen, Lindab. “We have already had a positive and interested response from several of our Builders and see this as an encouraging sign that we have raised the quality of Lindab Buildings yet another notch!”

WITH THE NEW FRÖLUNDA TORG, Gothenburg has an attractive new

56,000 m2 experience for shopping enthusi-asts. The third square was recently com-pleted with LH Vent Teknik responsible for the ventilation installations, which included Lindab’s new MBB plenum box combined with PKA diffusers for the entirely demand-controlled ventilation.

“With MBB, we were able to keep down the cost of the entire duct system. Despite MBB’s smaller and lighter box, we still get suffi cient air quantity and have therefore been able to scale down the ducts from 315 mm to 250 mm,” says Dan Hall, LH Vent Teknik. “This has also meant a more

standardised solution, which made it easier for us and provided economic benefi ts for the property owner, Diligentia.”

NICE AND SIMPLELindab has delivered plenum boxes and diffusers to Frölunda Torg’s renovation and expansion since 2009. In the fi rst phase, Lindab delivered 960 MBA diffusers (the predecessor to MBB), while approximately 415 MBB boxes were delivered in 2010 and 2011.

“The major difference for us doing the installation is MBB’s smaller dimensions and lower weight,” explains Tim Sjöstrand, LH Vent Teknik. “Now, the whole assembly went

smoothly and we were able to install the MBBs without problems, even once the roof structures were in place. We could easily fi t the boxes through the 60x60 openings, which is really good. In addition, the box weighs less and by being able to go down to the 250 mm duct size the entire installation went more smoothly and simply.”

THE UNIVERSITY OF TURIN in Italy is one of the oldest in Europe, origi-

nally dating back to 1404. Around 70,000 students, an noteworthy number of No-bel laureates and a prominent role within research and higher education means that the university is growing constantly. A large expansion is currently under way, comprising seven major buildings whose most important attributes include energy effi ciency, function-al solutions and a good indoor climate.

“When we were commissioned to develop an indoor climate solution for the complete extension work, we immediately

contacted Lindab to discuss a suitable indoor climate solution,” explains engineer Marco Lazzerini at Sinergie, one of Italy’s leading building installation consultants. “It has taken time to arrive at a complete solu-tion, but with the help of Lindab’s design software for chilled beams, TEKNOsim, and full-scale testing at Lindab in Farum, we now have a solution that meets the customer’s requirements.”

Since August, around 500 specially designed Premax chilled beams have been delivered (see also page 12) along with 500 Architect chilled beams with integrated light-

ing. The entire installation is expected to be ready by the start of 2012. “We have already had a positive experience with Lindab, their expertise and technical capability,” con-cludes Marco Lazzerini. “Lindab’s ability to deliver customised solutions with quality, fl exibility and continuous technical support is really important to us. The chilled beam solution that we are now in the process of delivering also provides a lower energy con-sumption, all in keeping with the customer’s wishes.”

“THE INDOOR CLIMATE AT DR’S news centre must be improved , costing millions.” This was just one of numerous headlines describing the problems at Denmark’s newly-built broadcasting centre, just outside central Copenhagen. Those actually living with the problems were the roughly 400 employees working on the four fl oors of the vast News atrium.

“As early as 2006, when we moved in, it felt much too hot, too stuffy and people started going home with headaches, and experienced trouble with the mucous membranes of the eyes and throat. A general discomfort spread gradually,” Anne Grete Andersen, DR News. “When we failed to get internal feedback, we contacted the Danish Working Environment Authority, who, after an investigation, determined that it was just as bad as we thought. This led to a recommendation to appoint an external indoor climate expert to analyse the situation more closely, which is how consulting fi rm Rambøll became engaged.”

LINDAB INVOLVED EARLY“The hope was that we would fi nd a few simple causes for the problems and easily fi x them. But our analysis showed a signifi cantly more complex and tougher situation,” explains Jürgen Nickel, Rambøll. “The measurements showed an indoor climate that was clearly undersized from the beginning, and in particular that the effect of the huge north-facing glazed facade’s on temperature and air fl ow had not been taken into account.”

After presenting their report to DR, Rambøll were given the challenging task of correcting the problems as much as possible. “Already during the planning phase, we chose to involve Lindab to see how they could deal with the principle solution that we had developed,” continues Jürgen Nickel. “The question was whether Lindab could deliver a completely cus-tom-designed passive chilled beam for a suspended mounting along the glass facade, providing both

the required cooling and heating effects and fulfi lling the architectural design and form requirements. The same also applied to the delivery of the large ventila-tion nozzles that we planned for.”

UNTRADITIONAL, COMPLEX SOLUTION“All water pipes, valves and electrical systems would be encapsulated in the beams, which would also be connected together and hung in steel struts, thereby forming a long, narrow, uniform shape,” explains Jürgen Nickel. “Lindab’s ability to test the beam solution in the lab, plus their technical skill and, of course, direct contact with the architect, meant that the process fl owed very smoothly despite the strict time pressures. Together with Lindab, we managed to produce a unique and effi cient solution, despite it being an extremely complicated project. No standard product would have resolved the problem and the project clearly demonstrates the importance of close and united supplier partnerships in demanding situa-tions like this.”

In addition, Lindab, in cooperation with the Ger-man company Krantz, has developed the special ventilation nozzles that sit in the ventilation/diffuser units above the fourth fl oor. These units combine low and high impulse air supply and adapt automatically to the prevailing operational situation.

NOT WITHOUT PROBLEMS, BUT BETTERThe entire installation was carried out by YIT between 23:30 and 3:30 every night over a period of about three months. “YIT did a really good job, but it was obviously still a strain, especially for the staff who were there at night,” adds Anne Grete Andersen.

When the system was gradually brought into operation in the winter of 2010, the staff experi-enced no immediate improvement. “But you have to understand that when people have worked and lived in a really bad indoor climate for more than three

The delivery of 210 customised and unique passive beams plus around 40 ventilation nozzles for the central newsroom at DR Byen, Copenhagen. The solution was based on Rambøll’s calculations and requirements for over-coming the problematic indoor climate in the vast premises. The complex installation was performed by YIT.

When DR, Denmark’s Radio & TV, moved to its new “city” – DR Byen, unfortunately they were accompanied

by an undersized and partly wrongly designed indoor climate system. The consulting fi rm Rambøll were

tasked with “rescuing” the indoor climate – and job satisfaction – at DR Byen’s vast newsroom. This also meant

that through its skills and ability to develop custom solutions, Lindab became a major partner in the “rescue operation”.

years, the feeling of ‘now it’s better’ emerges slowly and gradually,” concludes Anne Grete Andersen. “It is also about continu-ously adjusting and adapting the system, which Rambøll is still working on. But from a situation where everyone thought it was too hot in summer and too cold in winter – we bought actually 400 fleece blankets to stay warm – we are now in a situation where few are complaining about the temperature, but some observations have been made about it being draughty. We have seen a great overall improvement and our indoor climate has become more and more comfortable.”

GROUNDBREAKING ARCHITECTURE and in-novative design solutions are clear features of major stadium construction. This particularly applies to the new stadium in Cluj, Romania’s fourth largest city, which with more than 30,000 seats has added a fi rst-class landmark to the region.

“Our vision was to create unique expressions for the building’s two main parts right from the start,” says Serban Tiganas, leading architect at the design consortium Dicositiganas. “The roof should appear to fl ow like a tide, with the facades providing transpar-ency and openness. This meant that we envisioned a metal shell very early on.”

METALLIC SHELL IN EVEN COLOURDicositiganas’ idea for a metal shell, however, meant that metals with different thermal properties would be required. “We contacted Lindab early on since we knew about their expertise regarding roofi ng and cladding solutions,” explains Cristian Manitiu at Con-A Construction, a leading construction com-pany with extensive experience of projects notably involving industry, the public sector and infrastructure. “This, our fi rst project with Lindab, developed into a very positive experience and the choice of Lindab was logical. Lindab was simply the only one from a handful of major suppliers who could deliver and meet Dicositiganas’ requirements concerning the design and uniform colour of all the metal surfaces.”

The roof consists of 20,000 m2 of standing seam roofi ng in steel, while the facades are made of alu-minium and consists of 5,000 m2 of facade cassettes and 2,000 m2 of perforated tape woven into the fa-cade. “We chose Onyx White Pearl for the colour as we wanted to give this spectacular building a coher-ent expression, and I really think the result speaks for itself,” continues Serban Tiganas. “Lindab’s capability and understanding for the architectural requirements, as well as their fl exibility, capacity and perfect sup-

port mean that new partnerships may follow sooner than we think. The choice of Lindab was certainly not apparent from the start, but it became more and more so along the way.”

DISRUPTION-FREE ASSEMBLY“Lindab invited our personnel to their Lindab Acad-emy, organised assembly exercises and their techni-cal team supplied CAD drawings for all the critical installation details,” concludes Cristian Manitiu. “This meant that the highly complex assembly and our on-site adaptation of all the roof profi les could be carried out entirely trouble free. Impressively, 8,000 facade cassettes could then be transported, without a single bit of damage and with every part marked up. In ad-dition, we had up to four orders per day, but that was no problem for Lindab. The deliveries went as fast as a four-hundred metre race!”

WHEN BUILDING A steel building, the entire process is con-ducted in a lo gical and clear sequence – foundation, supporting structure, beams, roofs and facades, and then on to fi nal comple-tion. But if you reverse the tape a few steps, you can actually see how “car-park like” it is once the supporting structure and fl oor structure is in place.

“Quite simply, we saw a new, interesting application for Lindab Buildings,” explains Lars Franzen, Lindab. “Lindab has long been one of Europe’s leaders in steel construction and has a well-developed system for the cost-effective and rapid construction of steel buildings in a very broad spectrum. We are now expanding this further.”

The new solution for single or multi-storey car parking that was recently launched is based on an open structure without walls, allowing natural ventilation as well as natural light. “This in turn gives lower energy and maintenance costs and add benefi ts to an already interesting cost breakdown,” says Erny Hendrickx, Lindab. “One of the fi rst car park projects that we and the Lindab Builder Scholtes & Brauch participated in is a 540 place car park for food distributor La Provencale in Luxembourg. “Here at Scholtes &

Brauch, we were able to present a complete solution that was both smart and economical and that was completed in as little as 7 months.”

INCREASED DEMAND“Demand is increasing for both public and private parking,” says Luc Scholtes, Scholtes & Brauch. “Together with Lindab, we can offer solutions that are effective, cost-competitive and fully customised in order to satisfy needs concerning span, design and vehicle movement.”

A four-storey car park, complete with car lift, has recently been delivered to the car dealer VW Horsmans & Rosati, where it will be used as the company’s new “showroom”.

“Fast, cost effective construction, a 10 m span and easy to adapt for future needs. Lindab’s solution has convinced me 100 %,” says Claude Horsmans at Horsmans & Rosati.

BY DEFINITION passive houses are extremely well-insulated buildings with an airtight shell equipped with systems and appliances that offer the lowest possible energy consumption. Compared to a traditional build-ing, passive house technology can reduce the energy consumption for a building’s heating/cooling system by 90 % with a decrease of 60-70 % in total.

Romania is one of the countries now working to establish standards and technical solutions for certi-fi ed passive housing. ISPE, the Institute for Studies and Power Engineering at the Politehnica Institute of Higher Education in Bucharest is coordinating this pilot project and has chosen to base Romania’s new passive housing standard on the existing German standard PHPP, developed by the PHI PassivHaus Institute in Darmstadt.

MINIMISED AIR LEAKAGE“We opted to install the Lindab Safe duct system in the two project houses now being erected on Politehnica’s campus,” says Adriana Milandru, project manager at ISPE and member of PASS-NET, the Network of Passive House Promoters. “Lindab Safe is well known for its airtight properties, which helps to minimise air leakage. By making this choice, we could fulfi l and actually surpass, the PHPP standard adapted to Rumanian climate conditions.”

Energy consumption for the building’s ventilation system and heating/cooling amounts to 11 kWh/m2, compared with PHPP’s limit of 15 kWh/m2. The corresponding fi gures for the building’s total con-sumption is 112 kWh/m2 (PHPP, 120 kWh/m2). In the fi rst year, the two passive houses will accommodate students and researchers with their families. For PHI to issue a certifi cation, tested houses must actually be occupied and used “for real”.

PASSIVE HOUSE STANDARDThe certifi cation will be issued in late 2011. The continuing measurements of the buildings’ energy consumption and quality of indoor climate clearly indicates that this is a certainty. “Once the certifi ca-tion is complete, this solution will naturally become

the pattern for all participating partners in this project and shall be spread throughout Romania,” says Costin Ionescu at Lindab. “We already know that a high-quality airtight ventilation system, combined with effective heat recovery, is a central aspect of the low-energy housing concept. This project is a great start for Romania, and it is an example of how our ideas regarding ‘Think less’ are spreading even further.”

IN FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR, Salchows and hockey pucks were in abundance in a brand new sports arena from Lindab when the seventh Asian Winter Games were held in the city of Astana in Kazakhstan. This was the fi rst time Kazakhstan had hosted this event, which brought together 843 sportsmen and women from 27 countries and was spread over the cities of Astana and Almaty.

In typical Olympic fashion, the games were pre-ceded by substantial preparations. Especially when it came to adjusting and expanding the city’s sporting arenas. Astana’s Mayor, Imangali Tasmagambe-tov, highlighted early on the importance of creating facilities that would meet the games’ requirements, but also leave behind a legacy of inspiring and well-equipped facilities for Kazakhstan’s winter sports athletes for many years to come.

6 400 M2 OLYMPIC STANDARDThe deliveries were made by the Lindab Builder Contractstroy-A, and consisted of a 49 m wide and 96 m long building without inside columns with an overhanging, vaulted LMR600 roof measuring 6,400 m2. Architect Vladimir Laptev has created an exciting architectural body where vertical sections oppose the roof’s vaulted form. “This is a really good example of the possibilities provided by Lindab Build-ings, as well as from an aesthetic and architectural perspective,” says Yerbol Kushenov, Lindab. “Like so many times before, this shows how unique solutions – technical and in terms of design – can coexist so well in this concept. In Astana’s continental climate, with harsh winters and hot summers, good insulation and ventilation were also important components.”

THE ONLY POSSIBLE SOLUTION“Fast delivery, pre-engineered for rapid assembly and a roof system of the highest class were the require-ments stipulated by the city of Astana,” explains Larissa Shmykova, Contractstroy-A, “and it was precisiely those advantages that we emphasised in our successful presentation to the deputy governor of Astana. Through perfect delivery logistics, Lindab’s permanent liaison with engineers from both Moscow and Budapest on-site and LMR600, which in our opin-ion is the best roof system in Europe, we were able to submit an Olympic building of the highest quality to the city of Astana. Without Lindab’s leading system and support, this would not have been possible!”

The Copenhagen Hospitality College in Valby is northern Europe’s largest hotel, restaurant and tourism academy in the industry. It has

recently undertaken an extensive exterior renovation and Lindab Sinus sheeting now shines and sparkles alongside the enthusiastic students and teachers. “All of us here at the school are very happy, satisfied and proud with the outcome,” says Anne Bach Pedersen, the Copenhagen Hospitality College. “Now we have a ‘look’ that really suits us.”

The architect Klaus S. Hansen, KSH Arkitekt og Ingeniør Aps was behind the choice of Sinus18 in 044 Anthracite Metallic. “The cooperation with Lindab regarding the technical solutions and development of drawings for assembly and fittings worked very well. Furthermore, from a purely architectural perspec-tive, Sinus Anthracite Metallic was perfect for this project.” Niels Hermansen of the building contractor N H Byg, who carried out the facade construction along with Stålkon, is also very satisfied. “We placed ongoing orders every Friday and deliveries were prompt and complete the following weeks via Lindab’s construc-tion wholesaler, Stark. We were especially impressed by the millimetre accuracy that characterised the entire delivery.”

The French car producer Citroën developed a new brand identity a few years back, which also affected the appearance of the dealers’

showrooms. “The idea is to have universal recognition for Citroën wherever you are in the world,” explains Martin Ericson, Citroën Sweden. “When it comes to our dealer showrooms, the guidelines stipulate ‘a smooth, white profile-free metal or glass facade’. There are no requirements as to how the retailer solves this, but have chosen to recommend a number of suppliers, one of which is Lindab.”

The Citroën dealer in Lund, Nilsson & Lind, recently completed its facelift, appointing Kristenssons Plåt & Smide to fit Lindab’s Fasadkassett Premium. Bilforum in Helsingborg are also in the process of changing their facade. “having seen the results, we can’t help but agree that it looks neat and fully in line with our intentions,” continues Martin Ericson. “In the case of sheet metal facades, we therefore normally refer our dealers to these two showcase objects, and with the pictures from Nilsson & Lind it is easy for dealers to get an idea of the possibilities.”

ONE LIFT “The solution with Fasadkas-sett Premium was entirely in line with

what Citroën wants – white and smooth,” says Rolf Lind (left), Nilsson & Lind. “The installation took just 14 days and went very smoothly. We have also received lots of positive comments; every-one thinks it’s really neat, and it has quite clearly given us a lift!”

Mikael Kristensson at Kris-tenssons Plåt & Smide agrees.

“The installation proceeded very well and the outcome was 110 %.

Simple assembly, stylish facade and smart with all parts labelled.”

”We have just started installing the first partition walls using Lindab’s RdBX studs,

a product solution that I really believe in, as do our builders,” says Conny Nilsson, foreman at MVB, general contractor for the new Helsingborg Arena. It is a multi-purpose arena for sports and events that will be completed in the autumn of 2012.

“Steel was prescribed as the wall material and it was an obvious choice, but the choice of Lindab has its own explanation. Through the building materials supplier, XL-BYGG A-TRÄ, we had the opportunity to spend our monthly foreman’s meet-ing at Lindab’s Profile factory in Förslöv, a generally positive experience, but above all an eye-opener about the possibilities of RdBX.”

XL-BYGG A-TRÄ has worked with Lindab for several years and considers their steel solutions

to be complete and well developed. “RdBX and the rest of Lindab’s steel building range is ideal for objects like this,”says Stefan Nilsson at XL-BYGG A-TRÄ. “We receive great support regarding prod-uct selection and design, as well as smooth delivery coordination that fits our workplace logistics and those of MVB.”

“RdBX quite clearly offers easier installation with its easy click fastenings in the floor and ceiling rails,” says Conny Nilsson. “The guys can complete the entire wall assembly more quickly, with better preci-sion and achieve a more stable frame for screwing the boards to. Lindab’s constant presence is also a good thing.”

Hungary’s Museum of Ethnography is housed in the Italian-inspired building that

was designed in 1891 for the country’s Ministry of Justice by the famous Hungarian architect

Alajos Hauszmann. In the same year, the ceiling fresco was painted that

still adorns the building’s main entrance hall. Unfortunately,

the building’s exterior metal roof deteriorated many years back and unsuccessful attempts have been made to stop the roof from leaking and damaging the admired ceiling frescos.

“Now, at last, the prob-lem is over,” explains Dávid

Polgár, Lindab. “We became involved in the renovation project

at an early stage and, together with our partner Iso-Thermo, we were able

to present a roof solution with an anti-con-densation layer on the bottom of the silver metallic LTP 45 roof sheeting that we have delivered to cover the roof of the entire building. This means that the cultural value of the building and its decora-tion is now protected on two sides – weathertight upwards and condensation downwards – for many years to come.”

All 37 Lidl stores in southern Sweden now have new and supplementary roof safety

from Lindab. “Two extremely snowy winters con-secutively resulted in Lidl’s decision to have new ridge rails and ladders for shovelling snow more securely and safely,” explains Mats Larsson and Boris Seger at Byggcompagniet, who were respon-sible for the installations. “Efficient logistics and meticulous planning were essential for ensuring that our assembly should go smoothly.”

“Our guys needed to have the materials in place in the morning, and Lindab solved this well in all 37 cases,” says Thed Ingemansson, who was responsible for planning at Byggcompagniet.

Roof safety for 37 Lidl stores

The growth within Cleantech and sustainable technology continues unabated,

and Lindab’s business areas for Ventilation and Building Systems have both developed solutions for reduced energy consumption. But Building Components also has solutions that support the use of solar energy two-fold.

“Interest in the use of solar panels for both water heating and electricity production is on the increase, and because they are typically located on the building’s roof, a simple, stable and secure fastening system is required,” says Niklas Eriksson, Lindab. “The accessories included in Lindab’s Roof Safety System, along with our profiles in the Construline product group, combine to make a per-fect set of fastenings for various kinds of solar pan-els. This offers a lightweight and low-cost mounting solution that can be performed without hazardous welding. Based on this standard, we then make project-specific solutions on a case-by-case basis.”

“Lindab neatly solves our mounting problems, despite getting involved at a late stage,” says Kalle Demeter at Glacell, one of Sweden’s leading turn-key contractors within solar power. “With Lindab’s lightweight profiles – C, Z or custom bent – we can easily fix the solar installations onto load-bearing structural components. Combined with various brackets and fasteners, we have a complete mounting solution. Because Lindab manufactures these products in aluzinc, a C4 corrosion class is also attained, which is a major advantage here. The cooperation with Lindab is working perfectly and it is a great comfort to have access to their expertise within technology and production.”

The use of solar panels is also increasing in the Hungarian market. “With the anchoring elements of our Protectline system for mounting solar panels, we can ensure a safe and load-bearing attachment, plus of course, completely watertight pass-throughs for different types of roof constructions,” says, István Kotormán, Lindab. “Moreover, this solution is suitable both for newly constructed and existing buildings and provides virtually unlimited opportuni-ties for adaptation based on specific needs.”

Increasingly strong sales figures are behind the decision to almost

double the production area at Lindab Buildings’ factory in Yaroslavl, north-east of Moscow. “We are now going from around 14,000 m2 to just over 24,000 m2,” explains Etienne Lesuisse, Lindab. “This will give us a production capac-ity of 35,000 tonnes annually and a greater ability to efficiently handle the orders that keep coming. Beam production and the welding line will also be getting new and updated produc-tion equipment and through improved storage capacity and upgraded factory logistics, the whole production flow will become faster and more efficient.”

With sales well ahead above plan, 14 new Lindab Builders in 2011, an expanded effort within the CIS countries as well as a greater focus on key account business, the expansion was almost a necessity. “Now we can give our customers a faster and more reliable delivery flow, but also the opportunity to develop our MSB product area, multi-storey buildings. This gives our customers a better offering overall,” concludes Etienne Lesuisse.

The Swedish cosmetics giant Oriflame is now growing fast in the Russian market.

That is why the construction of a brand new distri-bution and production centre has begun in Noginsk, just outside Moscow. Key parts of the 56,000 m2 building have been constructed using Lindab’s core products. The building, which consists of two inter-connected buildings, is a Lindab steel building with an LMR600 roof and will be equipped with a com-plete ventilation system consisting of a Lindab Safe duct system and Lindab Comfort diffusers.

“Lindab Buildings are well known in Europe and like many other decision makers, Oriflame understood the benefits of this choice,” explains Alexander Seleznov, GD at StoryTech 5, the main

contractor for the project. “European quality but – since Lindab has steel building production here in the country – at Russian prices. A highly deci-sive factor however was Lindab’s ability to meet Oriflame’s environmental policy. The complete indoor climate and ventilation system that Lindab Ventilation has calculated and drawn, combined with the optimisation of building insulation values performed by Lindab means that the building quali-fies for LEED certification.”

The building was designed by Prom Grazhdan Projekt, Moscow with Russia’s Mott MacDonald as the technical consultant.

Ecolor has received its third turnkey solution from the Romanian Lindab Builder

Wincon. Ecolor is a subsidiary of the Swedish fur-niture manufacturer Gyllensvaans Möbler, names that are not directly known to the public at large. If you were to say “Billy” bookshelves, that would immediately become more familiar, Billy along with a number of other IKEA products are made by the two companies.

“Having the European leader in steel build-ing systems as a partner gives us great benefits,” explains Bogdan Irsik at Wincon. “Fantastic techni-cal support throughout the process and, in princi-ple, unlimited possibilities are important customer values for our clients. Lindab’s system also provides dependable and fast delivery times, which is always paramount.”

“We have extremely good experience of Lindab and their LMR600 roof, which is why we also chose Lindab on this occasion,” says Carl Widell, Ecolor. “Standardised design, seven months from start to finish, and an attractive price level are all factors that have left us more than satisfied!”
