INTROIT - The Choir CALL TO WORSHIP HYMN OF PRAISE - No. 1 - O worship the King

1. O worship the King, all glorious above,

And gratefully sing His power and His love

Our Shield and Defender, the Ancient of Days,

Pavilioned in splendor and girded with praise.

2. O tell of His might, O sing of His grace

Whose robe is the light, whose canopy space!

His chariots of wrath the deep thunder-clouds form

And dark is His path on the wings of the storm.

3. Thy bountiful care what tongue can recite?

It breathes in the air, it shines in the light,

It streams from the hills, it descends to the plain,

And sweetly distills in the dew and the rain.

4. Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail,

In thee do we trust, nor find thee to fail:

Thy mercies how tender, how firm to the end,

Our Maker, Defender, Redeemer and Friend. [Robert Grant – Tune 10.10.11.11]

PRAYER OF ADORATION & THANKSGIVING RESPONSIVE READING - [Psalm 99 – NIV] Leader: The Lord reigns, let the nations tremble;

People: he sits enthroned between the cherubim, let the earth shake. Leader: Great is the Lord in Zion; he is exalted over all the nations. People: Let them praise your great and awesome name- he is holy. Leader: The King is mighty, he loves justice -you have established

equity; in Jacob you have done what is just and right. People: Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy. Leader: Moses and Aaron were among his priests, Samuel was among those who called on his name;

People: they called on the Lord and he answered them. Leader: He spoke to them from the pillar of cloud; they kept his statutes and the decrees he gave them.

Page 3: THEME FOR THE CHURCH YEAR October 2015 September 2016 ...bethelbaptisthwt.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/... · now your divine love extends through all the world. Jesus, ascended

People: Lord our God, you answered them;

you were to Israel a forgiving God, though you punished their misdeeds. ALL Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his holy mountain,

for the Lord our God is holy.

SONGS OF WORSHIP A. My God is awesome, He can move a mountain Keep me in the valley, hide me from the rain

My God is awesome, heals me when I'm broken

Strength where I've been weakened, forever He will reign

(repeat)

My God is awesome, awesome, awesome, awesome

My God is awesome, awesome, awesome, awesome

B. All hail, King Jesus. All hail, Emmanuel

King of kings, and Lord of lords, bright Morning Star.

Throughout all eternity, I’m going to praise Him

And forever more, I will reign with Him.

C. Alleluia, Alleluia, for the Lord God Almighty reigns!

Alleluia, alleluia, for the Lord God Almighty reigns!

Alleluia, holy, holy are you Lord God Almighty,

Worthy is the Lamb, worthy is the Lamb

You are holy, holy are You, Lord God Almighty,

Worthy is the Lamb, worthy is the Lamb. Amen.

[Brief Period of Silence]

[Sung Prayerfully]

REF: There is a balm in Gilead to make the wounded whole,

there is a balm in Gilead to heal the sin-sick soul.

Sometimes I feel discouraged and think my work’s in vain

then the Holy Spirit revives my soul again.

REF:

If you can’t preach like Peter, if you can’t pray like Paul,

just tell the love of Jesus, and say He died for all.

REF PRAYER OF CONFESSION & INTERCESSION [Response]

Wherever I go, I’ll praise him; wherever I can I’ll praise him For his love surrounds me like the sea I’ll praise the name of Jesus; lift up the name of Jesus For the name of Jesus lifted me.

SCRIPTURE READINGS - [OT] Isaiah 49: 13-18 [read by Xhareem Samuels] [NT] Acts 1: 6-11

HYMN OF MEDITATION – No. 2 - God is with us

1.‘God is with us, God is with us’ 2. Great the heritage they left us,

So our brave forefathers sang, Great the conquests to be won,

far across the field of battle, Armèd hosts to meet and scatter,

Loud their holy war-cry rang; Larger duties to be done,

Never once they feared nor faltered, Raise the song they nobly taught us

Never once they ceased to sing - round the wide world let it ring:

God is with us, God is with us,

Christ our Lord shall reign as King!

3. Speed the cross through all the nations,

Speed the victories of love,

Preach the gospel of redemption

wheresoever men may move;

Onward, then, with ranks unbroken,

Sure of triumph, shout and sing;

God is with us, God is with us,

Christ our Lord shall reign as King! [W J Mathams, 1853: Tune: 87 87D]

SPECIAL MUSICAL ITEM The Choir

MESSAGE – Rev Dr Burchel K Taylor

HYMN OF RESPONSE - No. 3 - Christian, do you hear the Lord?

1. Christian, do you hear the Lord? 4. ‘Mine is an unchanging love,

Jesus speaks his gracious word; higher than the heights above,

gently sounds the Saviour’s call, deeper than the depths beneath

‘Do you love me best of all?’ free and faithful, strong as death.

2. ‘I delivered you when bound, 5. ‘You shall see my glory soon,

and when bleeding, healed your when the work of grace is done;

wound; crowned with splendor you shall be

saw you wandering, set you right Christian, come and follow me!’

turned your darkness into light.’

3. ‘Can a mother’s tenderness, 6. Lord, it is my chief complaint

for her own dear child grow less? that my love is weak and faint;

Though she may forgetful be, yet I love you, and adore –

you are always dear to me.’ O for grace to love you more! [W Cooper -1800: Tune: 77 77]

PRAYER LORD’S SUPPER Song during Lord’s Supper - O love that will not let me go 1.O Love that wilt not let me go, 3. O Joy that seekest me through pain,

I rest my weary soul in thee; I cannot close my heart to thee

I give thee back the life I owe, I trace the rainbow through the rain

That in thine ocean depths its flow And feel the promise is not vain,

May richer, fuller be. That morn shall tearless be

Page 5: THEME FOR THE CHURCH YEAR October 2015 September 2016 ...bethelbaptisthwt.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/... · now your divine love extends through all the world. Jesus, ascended

O light that foll’west all my way, 4. O Cross that liftest up my head,

I yield my flick’ring torch to thee; I dare not ask to fly from thee

My heart restores its borrowed ray, I lay in dust life’s glory dead

That in thy sunshine’s blaze its day And from the ground there

May brighter, fairer be. blossoms red,

Life that shall endless be. [C Matheson – 1906: Tune 88 88 6]
