Austria
LP, Gerhard Kuschnig, (Vienna Waterworks, MA 31)
Rax, Schneeberg, Wildalpen, Hochschwab are shown and its protection areas, pastures
(active, abandoned),
Problem: determine the risk as a function of hazard and vulnerability
o Risk: microbial contamination of spring
o Hazard: cattle
o Vulnerability: Determined by natural background (soil, geology, vegetations,…)
Question: under climate change circumstances: does risk change?
o Vulnerability changes: increased precipitation – increased infiltration, increased
erosion
o Change in vegetation – effects have to be estimated
o Does hazard change due to CC? Hazard: emissions, driving forces, human activities,
physical, chemical, biological and microbiological, impacts on ecosystems, counter
measures
Which information is needed for evaluation?
o For steady state
o For CC-scenarios
Roland Köck from the University of Applied Life Sciences (Vienna)

o Ökogramm: Ellenberg
Remarks
Miso Andielov: Which data are we supposed to gather? Answer: You should find out, which are the
tree species on your sites. You can also enhance the data by personal findings.

pesticides anymore.
Hungary
PP6 – Judith Zachar
Test areas: Bükk (karst) Nyírség (porous)
Evaluate land use changes since the 1950s
There are 5 categories: changes mainly in forest and settlements (increase)
o Wetland, lake, river

Petru Enciu presents Land use and water quality data.
Water has been analyzed of water quality trends
o Oltenia Plain: chloride, nitrates, nitrite, ammonium will increase in test areas.
 Future water supply: deep water

Beljanica and Stara Planina land use is shown on diagrams and images (CORINE maps) in the
future soil maps are going to be developed
 Groundwater Quality is high
IPA 2 partner Zeljka Rudic , Jaroslav Verni Insitute, Serbia, Belgrade; presents the Land use
TEMATIC WORKSHOP TW52

Water quality is presented (chloride is high)
Croatia
10% P: presentation by Ozren Hasan - Croatian Geological Survey (Zagreb)
Presentation of test areas: Vrankso lake, Cres Island, Bokanjacko blato: data is available up to
the 1950s, but there is no data before WW2.
Water quality: increase of chlorides in seasonal as well as total values in Cres due to tourists (danger of seawater intrusion)
Blasko polje: nitrites decreases due to sanitary zones
Italy
Fulvio Celico, University of Molise
 Land use maps were gathered
 Maps of soil thickness
Contamination changes in autumn and spring
o After freezing of the soil, a significant decrease in viable cells within the soil is
observed
o Expected impact of microbial contamination of spring water seems to be “temperature depended”, thus: an increase in contamination in winter season is
expected where freezing won´t occur, due to decrease of cell death
o An increase in contamination in autumn could be observed in case of significant
increase of summer temperature, due to increase in cell growth
Excursion: Watermill Mura
