This is the season of peace and contemplation. We are thankful for the gifts of life, family, friendship, and our home here in Village Royale on the Green. I look back at the past 40+ years at my experiences here at VRG; Mom and Dad moving into a newly opened Greenview apart-ment, my first visit here, my children visiting their
grandparents and my grand-children’s visits to their great grandparents. We remember the friends made and those lost. We wish you all the best of the Holiday Season, Happy Hannakuh, Merry Christmas , a Joyous Kwanzaa and a Happy New Year. May the coming year bring you health and happiness.

As I walk the grounds at VRG, I do see more and more people are back. That tells me the snow birds are fleeing the cold for the warmer weather. I welcome you all and I wish you a happy and warm stay. I do hope you find our place pretty as usual, enjoy the warm weather and all the activities that VRG offers you. I take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah.

VRG Celebrates The Holiday Season
the United States and in other nations of the Western African Diaspora in the Americas. The celebration honors African heritage in African-American culture, and is observed from December 26 to January 1, culminating in a feast and gift-giving. Kwanzaa has seven core principles. It was created by Maulana Karenga and was first celebrated in 1966–67.
Whatever our beliefs are, November and De-cember is a time to celebrate who we are, to embrace our brothers and sister, and to give thanks for all the blessings bestowed upon us.
We ring in the New Year with many expecta-tions, with fervent prayers for the end of tu-mult, to the beginning of a better understand-ing of one another and wisdom for all who govern.

For many, this is a joyous time of the
year. For Christians we celebrate the birth of Je-sus Christ, the savoir of mankind. Christmas is observed most commonly on December 25 as a religious and cultural celebration among billions of people around the world. Those of the Jewish faith celebrate the re-dedication of the holy Temple in Jerusalem fol-lowing the Jewish victory over the Syrian-Greeks in 165 B.C.E. Hanukkah is observed for eight nights and days, starting on the 25th day of Kislev according to the Hebrew calendar, which may occur at any time from late November to late December in the Gregorian calendar. It is also known as the Festival of Lights and the Feast of Dedication. Kwanzaa is a week-long celebration held in

VRG Celebrates Floyd H. Zonenstein
Extra! Extra! Floyd H. Zonenstein Announces
Floyd recently posted this on Facebook and appropriately speaks for him and his faith.

We’ve been notified that Floyd, Mr. VRG, has decided to “retire.” Floyd has a long record of service to VRG and the community of Boynton Beach.
He has served us as President, Vice-President, Executive Board member, Security Committee member, Maintenance Co-chairman, one of the contacts with our night-time BBPD patrolmen/women, operated the clubhouse audio system, C.E.R.T mem-ber and Bingo Caller. He was born on October 18, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Philadelphia at age 6. Floyd has one sister, Marilyn. The Zonensteins were married on January 12, 1958 (58 years). They have two children, Julia and Steven and two granddaughters. Floyd retired from the Philadelphia Police Force. Fran and Floyd moved to Florida twenty-two years ago. Floyd continued his vocation here in Boynton Beach, serving with BBPD parking enforcement and was a member of COP. This reporter questions the meaning of “retirement”! It is my hope that we see him doing what he does for a long long time.

My pick for this month is David Baldacci, who has written books that have been translated into 45 languages and over 80 countries. Most are standalone books, but I'm recommending a series of three titles, The Innocent, The Hit and The Target. The series are FBI thrillers. The Innocent’s main character is Robie who is a cold stone hit man and goes against government orders. In the second one, The Hit, Robie is joined by a woman assassin who has gone rogue. Robie is tasked with bring-ing her in and things do not go as planned. In the third one, The Target, Robie and fellow FBI agent, Reel, must go after a global menace which even the gov-ernment does not believe they will succeed. Throughout this task, the duo is on a hit list of another assassin. So, if you would like a new mystery author, I think Bal-dacci is one you should try. Phyllis Haight

As I sit here writing this, I have just started reading "This Was a Man”, the final volume of the Clifton Chronicles. Jeffrey Archer kept us
in suspense for a whole year, waiting to find out what hap-pens to Giles Barrington, Harry and Emma Clifton, Sebastian Clifton and Lady Virginia. The first book, "Only Time Will Tell" begins in 1920 in England. As our regular visitors to the library know, each book contin-
ues through the lives of the Cliftons' and the Barringtons'. It is a captivating story and Jef-frey Archer leaves us hanging at the end of each book. This last, in a series of 7, begins in 1978 where many lives have changed. Since I am only at chapter 7, I can't tell you much about it. So far, Emma has stepped down as chairman of the Bristol Royal Infirmary and head of Barring-ton shipping. I'm not giving too much away by telling you she gets involved in politics at the insistence of Margaret Thatcher. Come up to the library to put your name on the waiting list as everyone wants to see how the chronicles end. If you haven't yet read this se-ries of books, come up and we'll get you started.
