• Yet another achievement is that during the house visit of Mrs. Ursula /
Sybille, they could witness student Vijila’s house construction which
inspired them to help the family to complete the building.
• Students Sherin Steephan, Arogyamary have completed Secondary level
and Renju, Nithya Kenady Higher Secondary level and all are expecting to
pass the course and waiting for the successful result. We can remember
them in our prayers to get ahead of better grade and obtain their desired
higher courses.
• Once in a month at the presence of either Rev. Fr. Laurence Culas or Mr.
Anto Culas with the coordination of Mr. John Britto the animators meeting
had been held for evaluating the level of each of the students in their
studies and planning the further activities to be carried out. Evening group
study is conducted every six days in a week in which all the animators were
very dynamically involved.
• From 29th September to 3rd October our valuable sponsors Mrs. Ursula and
Sybille had been attending Theerajyothi programs. They had appreciated
our total programs and evaluated very critically. They had asked to
maintain close and perpetual relation between Coordinator, Animators and
the parents. They advised to preserve different books to record the
attendance of the students and activities of the animators. They had visited
the houses of students Merli / Julie, Vijila, Selvaraj. Skillful presents had
been distributed to our students and they gladly went back to Germany.
• On 22nd February the respectable sponsor Mrs. Hannelore made a visit to
student Jerin’s house and the school he studies. Though it was a short visit,
it was a boost up to our team and Theerajyothi program. The skill
developing material that she brought was distributed to animators to use in
their group studies.
Special Programs

2013-2014 Academic Year Inauguration and Study Material Distribution had been
held on 2013 May 16 at 13:00 – 17:30 in Pulluvila St. Jude Nursery School Hall.
The program was organized in two phases. In the first segment (01:00-03:30)
classes on “Literature” for students and “How Parents can help in Children’s
Studies” were carried out by Mr. Rajan P. Pozhiyoor and Mr. Godwin
accordingly.
The second segment was a joint session of parents and students gathering at 16:00
in which Rev. Fr. Laurence Culas conveyed blessing sermons and officially
inaugurated the upcoming academic year 2013-2014.
5
The 2012-2013 Annual Report and Accounts were presented.
To have parents’ committee, one parent representatives were nominated from
each animators group. The committee members are as follows:
Shyni : Mrs. Lalitha, m/o Anjeli
Christapher : Mrs. Emilda, m/o Shermy + Sherin
Sheeja John : Mrs. Mary Helen, m/o Jerin Justin
Sanal : Mrs. Mercy, m/o Shijo Samuel
Clysi Ignatious : Mrs. Lali, m/o Aparna + Aleena
Then Rev. Fr. Laurence Culas distributed the study materials to all of our
students.
At the end of the gathering, sufficient time was given to parents and students to
meet individually with Rev. Fr. Laurence Culas, Mr. Anto Culas, Co-ordinator and
Animators.

The summer vacation period, months of April – May, we could organize
Computer Course and Special English Coaching. By blessing the
computers Rev. Fr. Richanson inaugurated the special classes on 1st of
April. As the world runs with computer, he demanded our students to
acquire computer knowledge and for that to utilize very sincerely and
enthusiastically this valuable opportunity.
Mrs. Shyni and Miss. Letticia Lopez were dedicatedly assigned to handle
the Computer Course and English Coaching accordingly.
These two months the Computer Course was continuously held and then
Animators Sanal and Christapher went on with their daily group studies.
This course was very practical and our students became familiar in
operating system. Since we have our own computers, this coaching will be
continued throughout our project.
But the English coaching became a failure. When the diocese conducted
special coaching on languages, we were convinced to send our entire
students to this program expecting it would have been more effective than
our program and to have enough class room for the computer course, too.
On the contrary, our students evaluated that the classes were not
productive, just repetition of the content that they learned last year.
With the interest of our senior students though we started the weekend
coaching, but after a month or two we discontinued due to their
unresponsiveness and lack of time. To know the fact, we had a meeting
and examined the situation and found that on Sunday they have a lot to do
at church and home.

The ‘ONAM’ celebration was held on 2013 September 17th at
Pulluvila St. Jude School Auditorium. All of us were welcomed
by ‘Athapookkalam’ which was decorated with colorful
flowers at the corridor of the building with the artistic sense of
our animators and students.
‘Onam’ is a festival of games too. Therefore we came out
from our serious mood to entertain mood with the attention-
grabbing games like ‘Lighting Candle & Run’, ‘Land or Sea’,
‘Take your Seats’, ‘Spotting the Beauty’, etc. As the games
were contested, we all were competitive to reach 1st, 2nd, and
3rd places to win the prizes. The energetic audiences were
encouraging their group by clapping, shouting,.
At the presidency of student Renju, the concluding session
was performed. The session was rich with striking cultural
programs of our students. Student Sajin heartily welcomed
everybody to the joyful gathering. Cultural programs began
with beautiful prayer song sung by a group under the
leadership of student Sona Jose. Then each animators group
had performed their own ‘Group Dance’, ‘Light Song’, ‘Story
Telling’, etc. Student Jerin Justin narrates a small and pretty
‘Onam Message’.
Tasting ‘Onam’ special sweets and thanking each other,
vigorously Theerajyothi family went back to their house.
Sorry for not attaching the colorful photos of this program,
which were damaged while downloading to the computer.

All of us assembled at Pulluvila Jaihind Library courtyard on 2013 December 28th
morning 08:00 and sang a prayer song before we began the journey. At 08:30 kick
off to go round Zoo, Art Gallery, Planetarium, Velly Lake, Sanhkumukham
Beach.
First we reached at Trivandrum
Zoo. The sight of different
kinds of animals and birds
excited our students. It was a
golden opportunity for them to
be familiar with wild animals
that they have rarely seen.
The scenes at Art Gallery,
collected works, of our ancient
Paintings, Sculptures,
Decorative Arts, etc were very
remarkable and incredible. The
art works at Shri Chitra Art
Gallery were displayed with
explanations of the history. This
was enlightening.

With the tasty and delicious food of Vellayambalam Animation Centre, we had
lunch break for an hour.
Soon after the break we were at Science & Technology Planetarium. We had
enough time to watch curiously and amazingly the 3D and informative animation
movie.
Rev. Fr. Laurence Culas waited and joined
with us at Vell Lake. The presence of father
Laurence showered full of life to
Theerajyothi. Life jackets that we wore,
beautiful views of both shores and our folk’s
song with clapping made the boat voyage
thrilling.
10
At sunset we had entered Shankhu Mukham beach. There some of us spent their
time with spontaneous traditional games, others grouped to had friend talks and
personal shopping. With sipping up Choco Bar Ice Cream we wrapped up the
expedition and everyone reached at home safely and pleasurably at 20:00.

Evaluation
Our past academic year 2013-2014 certainly successfully came to an end. We
could energize each and every of our activity. Our, Theerajyothi team -
cooperation and - coordination strengthened all our programs.
When we critically evaluate, sure we can come across certain notable drawbacks
all the way through the year.
To our joint efforts, how genuinely our students have been involved? It is the
facts that except a few majorities of our students are below average in their
studies.
Expecting better future of their children all the parents work hard day by day, but
their involvement into their children’s studies to uplift in higher education and
obtain skilled career is very little. How far our parents from giving are importance
to Family prayers, calm atmosphere at home for studies, timely healthy food, and
continuous relation with school teachers?
Though we could form parents committees at the beginning of the year, at the
end even a single sitting was not held throughout which is unacceptable. The
parents always silently attend our total program and return home but neither
contribute their own proposals nor judge our entire program for the
improvement which also is an unhealthy practice.
Our animators and coordinator have been concentrating only on the machined
regular activities. How far could they endow our students with self confidence
and inspiration, and help to find out multitalented abilities of students and
facilitate to develop those talents? Could we do anything special to build up social
and spiritual awareness and motivate our students for creative thinking and
action?
We wish a prosperous upcoming year 2014-2015 with God’s blessings, precious
sponsors (who provide endless aid and valuable suggestions), strong coordinator, dynamic
animators, energetic students, responsible parents, and the tireless leadership of
Mrs. Ruth Suermann Gitterle, Rev. Fr. Laurence Culas, Mr. Anto Culas and Mr.
Thadeus.
