Schools Programme Manager (WLZ)
Responsible to: Head of Educational Development
Responsible for: Line Management of Peripatetic and Senior Literacy Tutors in West London Zone (WLZ)
Liaises with: The WLZ Link WorkersSchool Senior Leadership TeamsFundraising Team
Job Objective: To have operational responsibility for the running and quality assurance of The Children's Literacy Charity’s school-based Literacy Labs in WLZ. The role works in close partnership with the WLZ Link Workers and the school staff and with the Head of Educational Development to contribute to the continuous improvement of the charity’s school-based educational provision.
Based at: West London Zone Partner schools with some office based and remote working
Main Duties:
Operational oversight of Literacy Labs
Establish, develop and maintain a good relationship with school personnel including attending pupil progress meetings and being the visible first point-of-contact between WLZ partner schools and the charity.
Act as an advocate for the charity maintaining a high profile within schools. Provide targeted support to specific Literacy Labs where required, in consultation
with the Head of Educational Development To arrange and lead annual review meetings with WLZ partner schools with the
support of HED Resourcing of Labs – ensuring there are sufficient staff and adequate teaching
resources. Covering teaching when needed across WLZ schools sometimes at short notice. To oversee the operational aspects of setting up new WLZ Literacy Labs.
Staff & Line management Line management of Peripatetic and Senior Literacy Tutors in school based Literacy
Labs in WLZ To oversee the recruitment and induction of Peripatetic, Senior Literacy Intervention
Tutors and Literacy Intervention Tutors (supported by the HR Coordinator) Through structured observation and feedback, delivering training, giving advice and
modelling good practice the post holder will support literacy Lab Tutorsa) with the content, structure and delivery of the literacy programme and
assessment b) with strategies to deliver effective sessions for pupils with a range of literacy
learning needs c) by contributing to continuing professional development through Education and
Team Meetings as requiredd) by ensuring consistency and best practice across Literacy Labs
Educational Standards, Impact and Reporting To continually monitor and evaluate the standard of delivery and the impact on
pupils’ progress. Supported by the HED to regularly review the charity’s model of delivery to ensure
maximum impact and best value for money. To complement the work of the HED in actively seeking out ways to further
strengthen the charity’s profile with new partners. Ensure that assessments from schools are entered onto the data spread sheet and
are completed by arranged deadlines
Team Development To build a high performing team of tutors, including induction, training and continuing
professional development. To model good management practice for teaching staff, advising on Literacy Lab
management issues as necessary. To support the HED to coordinate and develop the content of SPM team meetings. To ensure the communication of and adherence to the charity’s mission, values and
policies in our Literacy Labs.
Health & Safety To comply with relevant health and safety, equal opportunities, data protection,
safeguarding and other procedures in the performance of the duties above. Ensure that there is due care of pupils in the Literacy Labs and whilst in the care of
Lab staff Carry out regular checks to maintain safety and security at all times as per the
relevant quality standards
Other
To support the creation of case studies and promotional literature with a view to promoting to new schools and supporting the Fundraising team
Any other duties as may reasonably be required by the Head of Educational Development

EDUCATION Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification
Qualified Teacher Status would be an advantage

Outline Terms and Conditions
Hours: 4 days a week
Normal Hours: 8:30am – 4:30pm
Salary: Full-time equivalent: £26,520K
Holidays: In line with school holidays (approx 12/13 weeks)
Terms: Pension: If you are an eligible worker you will be auto enrolled into the NEST pension scheme. Details of this scheme will be sent upon commencement of employment.
