Make sure to let the glue dry before setting down the wand. Step 3 Dribble glue onto the tip of the wand to seal. Insert tissue into the larger opening of the wand. Glue over the opening with the tissue slightly peeking out at the end. Step 2 Spread hot glue across the remainder of the paper and roll up the rest of the wand. You can then take scissors and cut down the ends of the wand to your liking. Step 5 Be creative and decorate your wand to your preferred style. You can try using brown spray paint, gold glitter or even Fightin’-Texas-Aggie maroon-colored markers. But please, do not attempt to cast spells on your professor. Even magic can’t save you then. Jared Baxter: Harry Potter ends on magical note

T he boy who lived … come to finish a decade-spanning franchise.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 picks up right after the stage setter part 1 and blazes to a finale worthy of the series’ intense loyal following.

Potter and the seventh-year gang are out to destroy the remaining soul-containing horcruxes, Voldemort wields the all-powerful Elder Wand and the ambiguous Severus Snape is headmaster of Hogwarts, a school that now has more

Death Eaters and Dementors walking its grounds than students.

Bodies drop left and right, sacrifices

Expecto- magnificusare made and everything hinges on an epic battle royal to determine the fate of the wizardry world.

What has—and always will be—the heart and appeal of the series is the undying friendship of Daniel Radcliffe (Harry), Rupert Grint (Ron) and Emma Watson

(Hermione). These actors have spent roughly half of their lives playing three of the most

beloved fictional characters of modern time, and none

of them disappoint here.Radcliffe’s perfor-

mance contains all of the weight, burden, bravery and acceptance of his

role as both leader and savior. The boy who has lost so much, witnessed so many loved ones die, is

now a man who must face the Dark Lord and his destiny.

Ron and Hermione—now officially a hands-holding, kiss-ing item—are committed as ever to Harry and his quest to vanquish Voldemort, played by Ralph Fi-ennes, who in his own slithery way, is just begging to be defeated after years of cheating death.

As the shortest and most rapid-paced actioner of the series, it’s a testament to director David Yates that longtime favorites each take the stage for one last hoorah. No sorcerer’s stone feels left unturned as Hagrid, Professor McGonagall, the Weasley family and a wizard’s row of characters make appearances.

thebattalionTHE INDEPENDENT STUDENT VOICE

OF TEXAS A&M SINCE 1893

ReviewContinued from page 1

Matthew Lewis’ Neville Longbot-

tom stands out among the talented British supporting cast with his turn from comical goof to Hogwarts hero.

And who could possibly forget Alan Rickman as Snape? His voice is unmis-takable, and those seeking answers for his motivations will be pleased to see all is revealed.

Adopting a “go big, or go home” mentality, this all-out finale pulls off the most spectacular special effects sequences in the series to date. And though you might enjoy wearing 3-D glasses shaped much like Mr. Potter’s own, the conversion feels unnecessary with only a fire-breathing dragon really popping out.

This is Part 2 for a reason—it’s the culmination of not only the previ-ous installment but of six of other films as well. And as such, it doesn’t

exactly stack up as the best standalone story, being more of a crowd-pleasing finisher.

Ever since 1997, J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter has captivated millions of readers and moviegoers around the world, and this is it—the end. And what an ending it truly is.

Harry Potter’s multi-billion dollar franchise ends the way it started: solid, excitement-driven fantasy entertain-ment for nonreaders and a dream come to life for those who turned page after page to learn the fate of a boy wizard and his two best friends.

Terror attack in MumbaiThree coordinated bombings tore through the heart of India’s busy fi nancial capital during rush hour Wednesday, killing 21 people and wounding 141 in the worst terror attack in the country since the 2008 Mumbai siege. Bloody bodies were strewn in the dirt of Mumbai’s crowded neighborhoods and markets. Doors were ripped off storefronts, motorcycles were charred and a bus stop was shredded. After the blasts in three separate neighborhoods, police set up checkpoints and were put on high alert. The bombings came just months after peace talks resumed between India and Pakistan, which New Delhi has blamed for past attacks. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh condemned the blasts and appealed to the people of Mumbai “to remain calm and show a united face.” There was no immediate claim of responsibility, and Indian offi cials refused to speculate on who might be behind the blasts. Indian offi cials have accused Pakistan’s powerful spy agency of helping coordinate and fund earlier attacks, including the Mumbai siege, which killed 166 people over three days.

U.S. to play Japan

Abby Wambach sure knows how to deliver. A goal, a promise and soon, she hopes, a World Cup title. The U.S. women had fans on edge once again until Wambach broke a tense tie with her header off a corner kick in the 79th minute Wednesday. Next up, a trip to the World Cup fi nal Sunday in Frankfurt that will be the fi rst for Americans since 1999, when they last won it all. They’ll play Japan, which upset Sweden 3-1 to move one step away from realizing its own dream.
