Television stars Stephen Mulhern and Gray O’Brien are joined by a very special co-star this year in the form of Nottingham’s first ever 3D Genie. Wearing 3D glasses at points during the pantomime, you can rub the magic lamp as it hovers in front of your nose, and see the magical Genie rise from his lamp and move around the auditorium. Murdered to Death by Peter Gordonby arrangement with Josef Weinberger Plays Ltd

Following a hugely successful week in August 2010’s Classic Thriller Season, Murdered to Death returns for one week only. This hilarious spoof of the Agatha Christie genre guarantees to delight all lovers of murder mystery.

The Nottingham Evening Post described it as ‘hilarious and very clever’, ‘seriously entertaining entertainment’, and urged people to book as ‘It would be a crime to miss it’. Hamlet, the prince of Denmark, sees his father’s ghost. Tormented with loathing and consumed by grief, he must avenge his father’s murder. What he cannot foresee is the destruction that ensues.

Nicholas Hytner, Director of the National Theatre, directs Shakespeare’s great 1601 tragedy, which opens in London prior to a UK tour. Rory Kinnear plays Hamlet. He has previously appeared at the National in Burnt by the Sun, The Revenger’s Tragedy, Philistines and The Man of Mode for which he won an Olivier Award. He is joined by Clare Higgins as Gertrude, whose celebrated roles at the National include All’s Well That Ends Well, Oedipus, Major Barbara and Vincent in Brixton (Olivier Award for Best Actress).

Alexander RomanovskyThe brilliant young Ukrainian pianist Alexander Romanovsky begins this Sunday morning concert with Mozart’s Sonata No.11, famous for its lively Turkish Rondo finale. Javier PerianesSpanish pianist Javier Perianes is an acclaimed performer of Schubert and he begins this recital with the composer’s Four Impromptus, Op.90. Chopin’s Ballade No.4 is a fast-moving and fascinating counterpart to the colourful impressionism of Debussy’s Preludes. The finale, Manuel de Falla’s Fantastia Baetica, is an Andalusian wildcard – be prepared to be blown away by its exotic harmonies and flamenco-driven rhythms.

European Union Chamber Orchestra Violin Nicola Benedetti Flute Daniela Koch

The European Union Chamber Orchestra makes a welcome return with a lively programme and two wonderful soloists. Daniela Koch stars in Vivaldi’s soaring 3rd Flute Concerto and in Bach’s 2nd Orchestral Suite. Mozart’s Divertimento (K.138) reflects his teenage travels in Italy, whilst Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons captures the changes in the Italian landscape over a year. Leading British violinist Nicola Benedetti is the soloist in these evocative concertos.

Physical AccessWheelchair spaces are located in the Stalls of both the Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall.

If it is desired, or necessary, patrons may advise us of type of impairment and the size of the wheelchair (if applicable). Scooters and larger size wheelchairs may require an allocation of two ‘standard’ size wheelchair spaces.

As part of the ongoing refurbishment works, two additional wheelchair spaces and a disabled toilet have been created on Tier 1 of the Royal Concert Hall.

There is a lift in the Royal Concert Hall that services all levels. Currently we have no lift facility in the Theatre Royal.

However, in 2010 we are focusing our attentions on the Theatre Royal and investigating the possibility of a lift.
