The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Healing

“Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit...to another faith by the Spirit;

to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit… But all these worketh that one and selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.”

1 Corinthians 12:4, 9, 11 What is it that distinguishes the children of God? It is that God dwells in the midst of them and reveals Himself to them in power. God sends the Holy Spirit to His Church to act in her with power. In every age, the Church may look for manifestations of the Spirit, for they form our indissoluble unity: “one body, and one Spir-it” (Ephesians 4:4). The Spirit operates in various members of the Church at different times. It is possible to be filled with the Spirit for one special work and not for another. There are also times in the history of the Church when certain gifts of the Spirit are given with power, while at the same time unbelief may hinder other gifts. Wherever the more

abundant life of the Spirit is to be found, we may expect Him to manifest all His gifts. The gift of healing is one of the most beautiful manifestations of the Spirit. It is recorded of Jesus, “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil” (Acts 10:38). The Holy Spirit in Him was a healing Spirit, and He was the same in the disciples after Pentecost. The abundant outpouring of the Spirit produced abundant healings in the early Churches. (See Acts 3:7, 4:30; 5:12, 15-16; 9:41; 14:9-10; 16:18-19; 19:12; 28:8-9). Christ’s redemption extends its powerful working to the body, and the Holy Spirit is in charge of transmitting and maintaining it in us. It is Jesus who heals, Jesus who baptizes with the Holy Spirit, and Jesus who baptized His disciples with the same Spirit. It is He who sends us the Holy Spirit here on earth to take sickness away from us and to restore us to health. Divine healing takes place wherever the Spirit of God works in power. Examples of this are to be found in the lives of the Reformers, and in other men of God called to His service over the centuries. But there are even more promises accompanying the outpouring of the Holy Spirit that have not been fulfilled up to this time. Let us live in a holy expectation, praying for the Lord to accomplish them in us.

Page 6: The Zion Trumpet · unbelief may hinder other gifts. Wherever the more abundant life of the Spirit is to be found, we may expect Him to manifest all His gifts. The gift of healing

Seven Days I saw another one of those seven day advertisements today. They are the ones that claim that you can change your life in just seven days. There are ones for losing so much weight in seven days. These are ones for getting in shape in seven days. There are ones for starting to make a great deal of money in seven days. There are even ones for finding that perfect relationship in seven days. It is amazing just how many people there are out there who think that they can make our lives wonderful in a week.

I have, however, found one way that you can change your life in just seven days. It doesn’t require that you buy an exercise machine, take a pill, invest your savings, or give out your credit card number either. All you need is yourself, and all you have to invest is your heart, soul, and mind. Just by doing four

simple steps for seven days you can begin to turn you life into the joyous experience you always hoped it could be. The first step is simply to realize and know just how much God loves you. Once you see that God loves you and wants you to be happy, then everything in your life will become better. You will begin to feel, in fact, just how glorious life can be. The next step is just to love God back. That is all God ever asks of us. By loving God back, you will take the first step towards living the way you were meant to. Step three is to love yourself. If God loves you then you should be able to love yourself as well. You are a child of God, after all, and worthy of love. The last step is to go out and love others too. Love is a gift that you can’t just keep to yourself. It has to be shared. If you do these four steps for seven days, then you will never want to stop. Your soul will come alive. Love and joy will flow through you and show up in every single thing you do. You will not only change your life but also become a blessing to God and to the world.

How To Stay Healthy in the Cooler Months

The cooler weather is nearly here, so here are some tips for staying healthy during this time.

1. Meal Prep - Delicious Comfort Foods—thankfully there are so

many delicious wintery meals that are just perfect for meal prep

and keeping in the freezer. Curries, stews, bolognaise sauce,

lentil, etc. All these dishes freeze really well, so make up a big

batch and freeze in individual containers, ready to go. You will

thank yourself when you can skip the afterwork peak hour super-

market stop in the rain, because you already have a delicious and

nourishing meal at home.

2. Eat for the Weather - salads just don’t cut it for lunch on cooler

days. Chances are you will not feel satisfied and will be looking for something else to eat

after. We crave warming foods during winter, so adjust your diet to reflect this. There are

plenty of lunch options, such as delicious soups, that still are really nourishing for the body,

and also nourishing for the soul.

3. Embrace Seasonality - eating seasonally is great for so many reasons. It helps to

increase variety in your diet, is often much more affordable, and is better for the environ-

ment. Fresh produce that is at its best over the winter months includes citrus fruits, pears,

brussel sprouts, kale, cauliflower and cabbage.

4. Keep Hydrated - it can be really easy to become dehydrated during winter, as we pay less

attention to how much we are drinking. Our fluid requirements are not necessarily less

during winter. It really depends on you and your activity level throughout the day. Tap

water isn’t always the most appealing drink, so go for lots of herbal teas to keep warm and

hydrated throughout the day.

5. Maintain Your Workout Regime - workouts can so easily slip during winter, as the thought

of going out for a run when there is a chill seems unbearable. Aim to stick to your normal

workout regime, however once again, adjust your workouts to ensure your routine is

realistic and enjoyable. Perhaps try more indoor workouts, or invest in a gym membership

for six months. Whatever helps to keep exercise enjoyable and something to look forward

to.
