President Margaret opened the meeting with the Na-tional Anthem. Today was the first day of our Youth Month and we had lots of guests attend. Announcements were made that our St. Patrick’s Day Party is going to be on March 11

th at 5:30pm at Park

Place. Shares and Cares breakfast for Literacy will be held on Friday, April 1

st. This is a special Rotary fundraiser and

we’re looking for table captains to sponsor a table for $100. Invite 9 of your friends and hopefully, that $100 will expand to hundreds of dollars. Rick Goward won the raffle which he then passed on to John McDonald for the St. Patty’s Day party. Birthday’s were announced today by Jack Mueller. Bob Gleichauf February 22 Roger Hosn February 12 Edward Kraynak February 13 Roger Miller February 17 Merritt Robertson February 26 Darlene Schoolmaster introduced interim CEO of YWCA Western Wayne County, Kathleen Walgren. Ms. Walgren spoke about the mission of the YWCA. Its mission is to eliminate racism and empower women. They are building a new building and will be open soon. After they have moved they will be looking for do-nations of clothing. Also on their wish list: Classroom supplies, Food, snacks, website develop-ment, moving trucks to help with the move, document storage service, office supplies and volunteers. Volunteers that they are looking for are: Membership card sponsors, website, newsletter assis-tance, committee members for the finance committee, program planning and evaluation, fundraising and all sorts of other things. If you know someone that would love to be involved and can help volunteer their time to the YWCA please con-tact Kathleen Walgren at [email protected] or 313-561-4110 ext 13. Today was the first meeting of Youth Month, and we had youth.

Shelter box Neil Allen reported. 6 individual donors, Divine Child High School (2 collections= $161.10), for a total of $491.10 received. We also have two verbal commitments over and above that.

Sunrisers and Rotary Friends! We have several great presentations lined up for February: - Feb. 8 - Terry Everett of the Veterans Administration in Dearborn who will speak to us about programs for our veterans - Feb. 15 - Penny Oglesby who will talk about her Rotary trip to Brazil - Feb. 22 - Ken Buck, sales manager for the Fairlane Title Agency in Dearborn. His point-of-view on the recent housing and mortgage crises promises to be very interesting. We invite all Rotarians and guests to join us for these fascinating programs at 7 AM at Leon's, 23830 Michigan Avenue in Dearborn.
