The Family Prepares to Worship
We can never afford to forget that we teach our children to call God Father,
and the only conception of fatherhood that they can have is the conception which we give them.
Human fatherhood should be molded and modeled on the pattern of the fatherhood of God. William Barclay

“Great is Thy Faithfulness” FAITHFULNESS
(hymn 507) “Would you bless our homes and families, source of life who calls us here; in our world of stress and tension teach us love that conquers fear. Help us learn to love each other with a love that constant stays; teach us when we face our troubles, love’s expressed in many ways.
Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new mercies I see; all I have needed Thy hand hath provided. Great is Thy faithfulness, great is Thy faithfulness, great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Today, in God’s Great Story of Redemption known as the Christian Year, is the Fourth Sunday after Pentecost. Because
there are no major festivals in this part of the church year and the Sundays are numbered in ordinal numbers (First Sunday,
Second Sunday after Pentecost) this part of the calendar is also known as Ordinary Time. And yet, every Sunday focusing on
God is EXTRAORDINARY! The color for Ordinary Time is green-signifying the growth of the church which occurred fol-
lowing Pentecost. We also recognize and give thanks for our earthly fathers as we celebrate our heavenly Father.

Father, We Love You!
Gathering as God’s People
Gathering Songs
(hymn 7) Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee, God of glory, Lord of love; hearts unfold like flow'rs before Thee, opening to the sun above. Melt the clouds of sin and sadness; drive the dark of doubt away; giver of immortal gladness, fill us with the light of day. Thou art giving and forgiving, ever blessing, ever blest, well-spring of the joy of living, ocean-depth of happy rest! Thou our Father, Christ our Brother - all who live in love are Thine; teach us how to love each other, lift us to the joy divine."
(hymn 249) Father, we love You, we worship and adore You, glorify Thy name in all the earth. Glorify Thy name, glorify Thy name, glorify Thy name in all the earth.
Jesus, we love You… Spirit, we love You...

First Baptist Church welcomes all those worshipping with us to be part of our family. If you are a guest, we especially welcome you to our family. Learning experiences for younger pre-school children and infants are offered during worship in the Children’s Ministry Building. Children, K through fifth grade, are invited to join their parents in the sanctuary for our morning worship services. Enhanced listening devices are available for use in our services.
