Each period of man’s life has its own specialties.Childhood is known for its innocence, Adolescencefor spurt in growth for high dreams and a spell of

enthusiasm, and Youth is known for its characteristicexuberance of energy, pugnacity, the will to fight andsurmount difficulties and to take bold initiatives. It is thisperiod of life when man’s zest and enthusiasm are in greatferment, and man has active and vigorous co-operation ofthe body to fulfil his dreams, good or bad. It is a periodwhen man’s faculties of innovation, ingenuity and his inventiveand creative tendencies are at their best. It is during thisperiod that man can learn new arts, languages and sciencesbecause his faculties of memory and his learning capacityare now at their best. Most inventions, explorations, discoveries, adventures and high attainments in almost allfields of knowledge and effort have been made during thisperiod. The period of youth is characterized by the spirit ofadventure and an exceptional force of energy, tempered bya growing sense of responsibility and maturity. A man in hisyouth can thus make a lasting contribution to the cause ofunderstanding the inner and outer nature, inventions, courage, creative art and architecture and channelize his energy onthe toughest problems of life, and find keys to their solutions.

Youth are the strength of a nation. As a human body issupported by its spine, so are the youth the support of thebody politic. They are the real backbone of any institutionbecause of their stamina and vigour. The activity, the vitality, the enthusiasm, the zeal, the verve of an institution, or society,or nation come mainly from its youth who have the capacityto work, to fight hard against difficulties, to pick up courageand face problems boldly and to act with an undaunted spiritin the face of grave dangers and critical situations. Youth isthe human terra-firma on which stands the structure ofsociety. But if the youth of a country become corrupt orhave a slave mentality or lose their character, discipline,

INNER PEACE FORGLOBAL HARMONY

The Annual ServiceMeeting of PrajapitaBrahma Kumaris

Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalayabegins on 11 April 2013. TheMeeting, as usual, is being heldafter the conclusion of AvyaktBapDada’s meetings, whichtook place every fortnight overthe past five months. The entireseason has been marked bybeloved Avyakt BapDada’svery loving, special emphasison bringing about internaltransformation on the subtlelevel. This was finally the highestand most refined advice of theSatguru on 5 April 2013 whenmulti-thousands of sisters andbrothers gathered to listen tothe whispering elevated versionsat its pinnacle of Godly wisdom. How beautiful it was for all tobe invited to raise our handsseveral times and make apromise that each one of uswould ‘Remain ever-happyand help others to be ever-happy!’

Being constantly happy is a

very natural sanskar of eachsoul provided we live our liveswith honesty and sincerityaccording to AvyaktBapDada’s shrimat. Thisrequires interacting with amagnanimous heart andconsciousness, which needs tobe based on the concept thatwe, human souls, belong to theHighest and Wisest Being, andthat we derive this spiritualwisdom directly from ourSupreme Father and Motherin the form of naturalinheritance. Conscious effortto remain attuned andaware of being God’schildren automaticallyemerges the feeling ofbelonging to the unlimitedglobal human family. Allsorts of differences meltaway in those emotionallyrich feelings of oneness andbelonging to each other. Weare further able to strike abalance between spiritual self-progress and service ofhumanity, without which

internal and external problemsfester on. This seems to be ahighly essential piece ofunderstanding today as weobserve the ocean-like chaoticconditions all around. Eachindividual seems to bedrowning incessantly innegativity, doubts, anddepression, leading to thestrengthening of arrogant andviolent attitudes. Identifying theself with a wrong awarenessgives birth to all sorts ofdetrimental notions andfeelings, resulting in violentbehaviour and actions. Themost precious gift from God,in the form of newunderstanding about self-identity and interpersonalrelations, marks a newbeginning in one’s personaland social life, and helpscreate very happy familiesand peaceful societies.Concerted efforts are, but ofcourse, needed for continuousself-education, and educationof other fellow-beings who areour spiritual sisters andbrothers.

Dignity of an individual, and respect for each other, are the hallmark of apeaceful and happy life. Thishas to be practiced

unconditionally with a broadheart and unlimited spiritualconsciousness. Those of uswho are gifted with theknowledge of the eternalWorld Drama are ingrainedwith the awareness that wehave been playing ourrespective roles for 5000years, life after life, andbecoming females, males, sisters, brothers, husbands, wives, sons and daughters, uncles, aunts, grandparentsand grandchildren, friends…and so abilities, skills, perceptions are no longerlimited, constrained or biased. This unique awareness hastremendous power in bringingabout positive change insociety, which is the need of thehour. We were groping in thedark until we heard theknocking on the doors of ourintellect by none other than ourown Supreme Parent, God; Heinvites us to learn, experiment and realize thebeauty of living in spiritualconsciousness byconnecting internally withthe supreme source, God,directly.

This has been confirmed timeand again for over seven

decades ever since the descentof the Divine Being on earth asper His given promise in themost revered scripture,Shrimad Bhagwad Gita.Irreligiousness, unrighteous-ness, lawlessness and violencehave to be wiped off from thisplanet forever through the willpower bestowed on us by theAlmighty Authority Himself. Weare being called upon toawaken our pure psyche. Bydoing so we would becomeGod’s chosen right-handinstruments to re-establishDharma i.e. living one’s life byrighteous values. Withoutemphasizing the need forchanging our society’s presentday value system, it will not bepossible to realize the dream ofa civil society living in peaceand harmony. The foundationof such a life is to realize ourinner, positive peace throughthe daily and unconditionalinculcation of spiritual andmoral values. Over the ages,we have been inspired bygreat thinkers, philosophers, yogis, saints and foundingfathers of different religionsand races, as all faiths, cultures and societies havealways aspired for a beautiful

world of peace and harmonyyet their dreams remainunfulfilled because of theroot cause of negativity ineveryone’s mind and heart, outlook and action, ego, greed and anger. It is high timethat we awaken our conscienceand live by the tenets ofrighteousness, as enunciated inour scriptures as well as beingretold in essence by God, theSermonizer of the Gita.

Living in Bharat, we arehighly concerned about ourfuture… How we wish ourpolitical leaders could awakento the clarion call of theSupreme Guide andBenefactor, Incorporeal GodShiva, and lead their livesbased on righteousness, humility and dignity! Love andrespect for each individual insociety has to be the primefocus by leaders of any politicalparty or group. Since the timeforeign rule was dismantleddecades ago, our politicalsystems have unfortunatelyhelped create a corrupt societyand divided the great unitedfamily of Bharat Mata intomore than 1300 big and smallpolitical parties and groups…Mere agitations, fasts, protests,

Page 5: THE WORLD RENEWAL FOR APRIL ISSUE 2013

other means of showingresentment, displeasure andtaking to violent ways won’thelp in anyway. Let’s riseabove hindering thoughtsof regionalism, languages, customs and systems andknow our true identity asGod’s children. Withoutthis specific and greatoutlook, Bharat seems tobe on the threshold ofinner and external

destruction… A nationalmovement of awakened soulsand loving hearts will createthe much needed congenialatmosphere for everyone togrow happier, healthier, saferand more contented.

The concept of ‘VasudevKutumb Kam’ described byevery philosopher andactivist has to become areality, and the basis of thisis God’s direct teachings i.e.

“Today, the Master of all Treasures is pleasedto see the spiritual children, who are full of alltreasures. The sparkle of the fullness of thetreasures is visible in the majority of children. You are wonderful children, are you not? God,the Father says, "The sparkle of being a masterof the treasures should be visible on the faceand forehead of each child. Just as today, thereis the sparkle of the fullness of treasures on eachone’s face, so it should always remain like this. For anyone who looks at you, your face shouldspeak - you don’t need to say anything.

“As time progresses, so too, according to thesituations, tension will also increase. So, yourfaces will make others happy. Each child has tomake such preparations to do such service.

‘God belongs to all of us’,and ‘all of us belong toGod’… There is no greatertruth than this, and this puretruth will help us re-establishinner peace and globalharmony. Let’s be brave torise to the occasion andexperiment with this belief inall sincerity.

Om Shanti,– B.K. NIRWAIR

ESSENCE OF THE DIVINE ELEVATED VERSIONSOF 5 APRIL 2013:

With good wishes, be co-operative with one another, remain free fromobstacles and make everyone free from obstacles. Remain constantly

happy and make everyone happy.

What are the treasures? The special treasuresare knowledge, yoga and dharna and so checkthese within yourself.

“The most elevated treasure of all is the timeof the Confluence Age because, at the presenttime, the Father Himself comes in therelationships of the Father and the Guru. At thepresent time, the Father Himself is making thechildren full of all treasures. You have love forthis time, do you not? So, you should check:Have I accumulated all the treasures withinmyself? Am I distributing all the treasures likethe Father?

“Just as all of you are presently visible as fullof happiness, do you always remain like that?No matter what situations arise, they should not

Page 6: THE WORLD RENEWAL FOR APRIL ISSUE 2013

7The World Renewal, April 2013

take away the happiness of our treasures. Justas your face now is filled with happiness andlove, so it should always remain like that.

“Keep a wilted face and also a smiling face;which would you like? You would like thesmiling face, would you not? So, from today, all the children should make a promise inyour hearts that you will always remainhappy and make everyone happy becausethere is no nourishment like happiness. Youhave been told about the wonder of happinessmany times. Whenever you share anything, thenthere is that much less of it for yourself, but ifyou share happiness, would it decrease orincrease? It always increases.

“So, write the Father’s slogan on yourforehead: I have to remain happy and makeothers happy. Any person who sees anyone ofyou from a distance should smile; on seeingyour happy face they themselves should alsobecome happy. Will you do this service? Goddoes not want to see the children’s faces asordinary. So, you want to please the Father,do you not?

“When someone suddenly visits anycentre, they should experience themselves tohave come to a place of happiness. Wherethere is happiness, there is everything.Generally, what do they say wheneversomeone is taking leave? Stay happy andprosperous!

“When children have courage, the Fatherdefinitely helps. Baba’s thought of givingextra help always remains for the childrenwho have courage. Never be afraid! As soonas you say, “Mera Baba” (My Baba), Baba

will become present. Just say it from yourheart. Do not say “Mera Baba” superficially.

“For the next season everyone has to carryout two tasks. Firstly, make your serviceplace constantly free from obstacles withconstant good wishes and pure feelings. Youremain free from obstacles and makeeveryone free from obstacles. Do not thinkand do not give Baba anything to think about!

“Baba’s thought is that every childdefinitely knows his own weakness, whateverhis particular weakness is. You know yourown weakness, do you not? Finish that andthen come. Even a little bit of anger causesdistress to the self and the place. So,whatever weakness you have, finish that andthen come. With good wishes, be co-operative with one another and give oneanother signals with the good wishes ofmaking one another move forward.

“Teachers means those who show thefuture through their features. Each teachermeans one who reveals God through herfeatures. Whatever weakness you have, youdefinitely have to renounce it. No matterwhat happens, you definitely have to change.Have this determined thought.”

“At night, when you go to sleep, check:is the thought that I had, happening? If it isnot happening, then before going to sleep atnight let the zeal and enthusiasm for the nextday emerge and then go to sleep. When youwake up in the morning, check whether thethought you had is still emerged or whetherit has merged even a little? If it has merged, then bring it back with enthusiasm.”

• It is time to listen peacefullyand know the One who isknown by so many names.

• He is parent of all souls yetHe is specifically my parentand belongs to me.

• Did He make me belong toHim or did I make Himbelong to me?

• Service means to be able toknow the One and receivepeace and happiness from Him.

• Whatever scripture we study– the Bible, the Granth, theKoran, and the Gita–the deepdesire is to know the One.Who is He and what is He like?

• When reading the scriptures,I would find that conflictwould still come in the mindand I would still want to knowGod deeper.

• Another secret is to bemotivated to want tounderstand who He isbecause everything dependson Him.

Sister Jayanti asked Dadiji toshare the secret of God’s powerand how to absorb it. Dadiji hasher own power she uses for herown activity but it is God’spower that moves her.• We are the ones who are

loved by God and He iswatching. It is his inspiration

that has brought you here.• My deep motivation and

feeling is that all of us shouldexperience God’s love.

• When people go to themovies they like it. Theyapplaud and say it is good. But now we don’t want tojust applaud but to be able toexperience that goodnesswithin.

• Human life is precious andvaluable and this is the timeI have to find God.

• When we use the word God,we refer to the One who isthe Bestower of fortune.God has created my fortune.

• He is the Supreme amongstall souls. God is the One whohas been described as beyondbirth, rebirth and death, andnever enters a mother’swomb so He is not a deity,or religious prophet or sadhu.

• When we go into the depthof the subject of God, it isfirst necessary to know theself as a soul. ‘I’ am locatedin the centre of the foreheadand I control the entirephysical body and in thisawareness my mind and thephysical senses becomequiet and peaceful. Then itis easy to know Him.

• Another secret: The effort Ihave made is to be detached. When there is even a littleattachment I cannot makethe connection with Him. Egoand attachment pull me in allsorts of directions.

• God speaks to us directly, Iheard His words through theinstrument of Brahma Babaand yet I also hear Goddirectly.

• I would see Brahma Babadeep in silence. We would bepulled into a deep silence. There is a differencebetween peace and silence.

• Unless we go into silence weare not able to experience thepeace that we have lost. Thiswas my experience and canalso be yours.

• Through the experience ofGod’s love, there is a feelingthat I am being drawn into adimension beyond with athread that is pulling me. Insilence, we feel the thread oflove. We do not have to makeeffort but just feel the pull.

• The relationship with the OneIncorporeal can be of mother, father, friend, teacher andguide. As we experiencethese 5 relationships, weexperience thecompanionship and candance inside.

• He is a wonderful companion. If I have God as mycompanion what can thestorms and typhoons of lifedo to me? He is my supportand strength. Let this touchyour heart and you willexperience this too.

The traveller is you, thesoul, the diamond spark, the jewel between the

eyes. The desires and needs ofthe body distract the mind.Accumulation of material thingshides the path. Excess ofpersonal property leads one tolive in fear of robbers andthieves. The wise man holds onto what is permanent. You, thesoul are the traveller; the journeywill happen automatically. Thechoice of how you travel isyours. Conscious-ness iseverything; if you lose the truththat you are a soul, the journeywill be long and difficult withextra weight and unnecessarybaggage. Remember who youare and travel light. To walk thehighest path, the wise travellercarries little. Among hispossessions is discernment. Hesees clearly, let's goes of this andchooses that. This is calledintellect. Every act performed isetched on the soul like a printer'sblock. Every thought becomesa word, then an action and thiscreates character. The wiseman has the power to choose hischaracter by the actions heperforms. This gives birth to his

destiny.The wise traveller walks

alone, his only companion istruth. The path may runalongside another for a while,a journey shared, but the onlypermanent companionthrough time is truth. Like itor not, we stand alone so wemight as well like it. Solitudeis never empty or lonely; oncethe journey is begun, the rightdirection brings light. The onewho journeys in the dark isbeset by enemies. Remainwatchful. You are the eternalsoul; once you understand, itbrings freedom, finishes thefear of dying. Each travellerwrites his own story. Thechoices are always ours. Fateis designed by our own hands.Change your consciousness, know yourself. You are thejewel between your eyes.Minds travel faster than lightwithout leaving home. Thesage travels outside of timeand is careful of hisdestination.

Avyakt is an ancient wordwhich means not manifest, theincorporeal, the eternal light.Stay in this consciousness in

deepest silence and connectyourself with the source. Justfor a moment, just where youare, let your thoughts slip intosilence, let them be still. Allthe things of the worldcontinue, seed, birth, growthand death. Everything returnsto its beginnings, unchanging, eternal stillness. To see this, wisdom frees the mind andbrings understanding of thetrue self. You transcend, thebody dies, but the soulcontinues.

The wise traveller walkscarefully, harms nothing. Heplants flowers where hewalks, gives more than hetakes. He accumulates goodkarma for the future followinghis truth. It is time that holdsjustice and justice happensaccording to time. Thetraveller walks his journeywith care, keeps his tempersweet, his vision pure, hisbehaviour honourable, foreverything brings its ownreward. The journey isthrough time itself, birth todeath and birth again, neverending journey. Like the earthwhich runs in a cycle, alwaysturning, never ending, thecycle of time.

This is the time when youcan become like a diamond;the path you must travel is thepath of remembrance. Thewise traveller chooses

carefully, considers powerover the self as wisdom;power over others as force.

The first power is to focus, the next is to remainunshakeable and tolerateeverything, accommodate alldifferences. Tricks andillusions are everywhere;hence one needs the power todiscriminate with accuratejudgement, find the diamondamong the counterfeit. Neverlet your desire influence thedecision. There are obstacleson the road, so the powerneeded at such a moment isto face everything withcourage, co-operation, andalso attempt to know when towithdraw with no blame. Thisis wisdom. Unlock the door ofyour mind and open it wide.

Don't you realize that onehas been given the map, thedoor to the future is open, andthe treasure store standsunlocked before everywatchful and alert seeker?

"Hating peoplebecause of theircolor is wrong. And it doesn't

matter which colordoes the hating.

It's just plainwrong."

Once, King Yadu askeda handsome youngman, named Avadhuta,

who showed extraordinarypractical wisdom: “I see thatyou are not engaged in anyreligious activity, and yet youhave acquired the most expertunderstanding of all things andall people in this world. Kindlytell me, sir, how did you acquirethis extraordinary intelligence, and what is the reason of greatecstasy that you feel withinyourself?” The young manreplied: ‘I have gained thenecessary wisdom from thewhole creation, through 24Gurus.’

If this is the case, we areactually flooded with gurus.Taking a cue from him, we willshortlist some five familiar thingsaround us that can make ussmart, such as Sun, Moon, Ant,River and Tree (the first lettersof which make the wordSMART).

SUN is the sustainer of allliving beings on earth, givingthem light and heat. Hence, Sunis a guru teaching us silentlythat whatever we say or do must

– enlighten and provide warmthto others. When we talk aboutour disappointments anddistress, it makes others feelgloomy and weak. Hence, itreflects lack of love on our partas all are overwhelmed bysome distress or the other. Before speaking to someone,we need to examine whetherour words are “non-offensive,truthful, pleasant, andbeneficial.” (Gita 17:15) If not,the best course of action is tobe “silent” which will save ourenergy and spare much distresslater on Gita 12:19.

MOON reflects the sun’slight which helps us in the night.Earth and moon rotate on theiraxis, yet we always see onlyone side of the moon. Becausethe rotational period is exactlythe same as the orbital period, the same portion of the Moon’ssphere is always facing theEarth. Moon thus teaches usthat our action should alwaysreflect the qualities of the Soulas we are all souls, the childrenof the Supreme Soul, and weshould never let our other sideto be prominent in our

personality and behaviour.ANT is very small in size, yet

it is wiser than humans. “It hasno commander, no overseer orruler, yet it stores its provisionsin summer and gathers its foodat the time of harvest.”(Proverbs 6:6-8; 30:25) Theyteach us to be prudent, i.e.,acting with care and having athought for the future –something that human beingsare yet to learn. If human rulerswere prudent, we would neverhave even heard of poverty.Take the latest news! Europeanleaders force what they callAUSTERITY MEASURES onpeople. Why? It is nothing butfailure of showing prudencewhile spending excessively inthe past. We have polluted air, water and land making itvirtually impossible for the nextgeneration to live. Present worldpopulation is 6.8 billion, and 870million people (i.e. more thanthe combined population of USAand European Union) do nothave enough to eat, while thebulk of the rest suffers fromobesity!

RIVER flows continuouslytill it reaches ocean. It is notinterested in the pleasant orunpleasant sights on its way. When met with obstacles suchas rock on its path, it still flowsby its side or over it. Henceriver is the symbol of non-attachment. It quenches the

thirst of many, and cleansesthose taking bath in it. There issubtle lesson: “You can neverstep into the same river a secondtime; for new waters are alwaysflowing on to you,” saysHeraclitus of Ephesus. This istypical of what happens with thecells in our bodies, sanskars, values, our experiences andcircumstances, all of whichkeep changing. This helps us totreat others always fresh andnot under the influence of theirpast behaviour to us. So, Riveris a symbol of consistency:whether it experiencesturbulent times or peacefultimes, it just keeps flowing. What a great example for us toemulate!

Tree symbolizes truth, benevolence and beauty;something for which God standsfor. It silently, works to producefruits which are enjoyed byothers who may appreciate thetree or may not. While it standsin the hot sun, it providesrefreshing shade to others. What better lesson can we haveon the virtue of ALTRUISM:“taking delight in the welfare ofall beings”? Take the case oftrees, such as mango. Itproduces seed due to whichcountless future generations ofthat tree remain protected[SATYAM = truth]; then itcovers the seed with flesh

which will be a delicious treatfor others [SHIVOM =benevolence]; and finally itpresents it to us in attractive/appealing colours[SUNDARAM = beauty].

The whole universe andespecially the Nature is thegreatest and finest of teachers. It we look around, we will findeven a small bug can providethe most fundamental lesson invalues. Since we journey asstudents, we need to openourselves and enjoy thelearning; no matter in whatform it comes. Becauseeverything and everyonearound us is inspirational and itemphasizes that we do not haveto search for peace, wisdomand joy. They are already withinus; we don’t have to gain thembut we have to realize them.

If you can practise the aboveprinciples, symbolized by thevery familiar things around us,you will also become smart andsuccessful both:materialistically and spiritually. What is better than getting aninheritance of 21 births. (Thisrequires that you need to be atthe right place, at the right time, with right people and doing theright thing.) Let us see how:

Before seeing how, we needto have some backgroundinformation. Sociologypresents, what they call Social

Cycle Theory which states that“events and stages of societyand history are generallyrepeating themselves in cycles.”Interpretation of history as‘repeating cycles of Golden andDark Ages’ was a commonbelief among ancient cultures.History is broadly divided into‘Day’, a period when peoplewould live by the light within andnight, a period when peoplewould live selfishly. This nightcomes to a climax when peopleperfect their selfishness in all itsforms.

When the wicked are moreand the righteous are veryfew, then who will affect theswitch-over from Night toDay? Remember the threemajor roles God plays, astaught by virtually all religions:Generator, Operator, andDestroyer (GOD). What doesHe generate, operate anddestroy? He is the Generatorof Heaven on earth, Operatorof the heavenly kingdom ofVaikunth and Destroyer ofthis old degenerated world(hell) on earth, which was aheaven in the beginning.

Those who want to live inthe day of righteousness, theheaven on earth, have to liveby Shrimat (dictates of God)which means walking withGod. The greatest Shrimat ofGod is that we should be Soul-

Page 12: THE WORLD RENEWAL FOR APRIL ISSUE 2013

13The World Renewal, April 2013

Conscious, which involves beingin the loving remembrance ofGod, the Father the SupremeSoul. We know that happinessdepends on the quality of ourthoughts. But quality of ourthoughts depends on the peoplewith whom we choose toassociate. Hence we act in ourown best interest when weassociate with quality people, pure ones, who walk with God.

Once you have firm foot on theabove principles, you arecompletely free from falsesources of security: your body, your objects and your relatives, all of which are temporary, theycome and go. That is because weare used to simply living ratherthan choosing. We seldom realizethat we have enormous power tochoose. For example, whensomeone introduces a subject youdon’t like to discuss, you oftenchange the subject. Even ahabitually angry person controlshis anger when he is with hisemployer or high police officials. All these show that we canmanage and control our thoughtsand actions and change oursanskars and ultimately ourdestiny.

The present is the result ofchoices you made in the past andyour future will be the result ofchoices you make in the present. So, make smarter choices andcreate a better future.

The temple bell has rung.Mother-in law’s keertan has been sung,The day has begun,And a woman has a job to be done.

Getting her children ready,Really, they are very fussy,After sending them to school,She has to work with kitchen tools.

Chop! Chop! Slush! Slush!Went her swift handNot a single minute wasted,Food is ready as good as tasted!

Clearing of pest, cleaning of houseNot leaving a single mouse.Washing clothes, planting shrubs,Yes! She also plants love!

After all these chores,Why does she feel alone? Now I know the answer.

After taking care of everything,She misses one thingBecause she is a true home-maker.In marital life, she has no selfishness for her.

Some people say that mindis like a wild horse; it runsand jumps. Some others

say that it is like wind whichblows in different directions, orit is like a mad dog; it runs hitherand thither. Yet, some others saythat it is like a monkey. It jumpsfrom one place to anotherconstantly. It is impossible tocontrol the mind.

Such observations andutterances are common. At thesame time, we also say that it is‘my mind’ that is not stable. When we say that it is ‘mymind’, it means I am the masterand the creator. It is ‘I’ whogives directions to the mind, inthe same way as I give it to ‘myhand’ or ‘my leg’. Since the mindgenerates thoughts so we areresponsible for our own thoughts, feelings and behaviour. Thoughtsare not just the result ofchemical and electricalprocesses in the brain but it isthe energy which I canconsciously choose and controlas I take charge of my mind.Meditation and SpiritualKnowledge can help to let govarious negative, wasteful andvicious thoughts related to body-consciousness. In order to

release ourselves from thebody-consciousness and toconquer the mind, we can alsoexercise the following powers:-1. Power of wisdom andconscience: We all know thateven though people know whatis right and wrong, in manycases of wrong doing, peopledo not exercise their power ofwisdom and conscience. Theyoverlook the voice of theconscience or do not listen totheir inner wisdom and hencecommit sins. During the courseof wrong doing, their mindbecomes disturbed andunstable. In fact, the mind likesright thoughts, words andactions. Our voice ofconscience is always in tunewith the shrimat of God. Buta disturbed and wavering mindcreates wasteful and negativethoughts and one is unable touse the power of wisdom. However, as one startsimbibing spiritual knowledge, heis able to cultivate positivethoughts and re-discover theirinnate wisdom.2. Power of surrender: Weall know that when BrahmaBaba got divine visions of theimpending world destruction,

the emergence of new worldof deities and that he shouldbecome the instrument for theestablishment of the new worldorder, he was fully convinced ofGod’s directions. He took adecision to dedicate his life tothe mission of God the SupremeSoul. He sacrificed himself at astroke and remained free fromany attachment to any personor possession. Thus he got theunique name Prajapita Brahma.Since, he bequeathedeverything in favour of theDivine; he had nothing to botherabout. We should also checkourselves as to what extent wehave surrendered our lives tothe Supreme Soul.3. Power of attainments: Ifwe look at ourselves, one thingis clear. We have receivedimmeasurable attainments inthis godly life. We are supposedto be rejoicing the joys of Godlylife. We all know that when weare happy and peaceful, ourmind remains stable and is notdrawn to momentary pleasuresor short-term gains. As we areall full, we do not requireanything from anyone oranywhere. This is possible onlywhen we revise the list ofattainments on a daily basis andremind ourselves of theabundant attainments.4. Power of observingsilence: We all have theexperience that as we observesilence- ‘moun’ the chattering

of our mind comes to a halt andit calms down. The real natureof the soul is silence and italways yearns to be in that stateof silence. So we can easilycontrol the mind if we have thehabit remaining introvert. Aswe all wake up at amritvela,we can observe silence until themorning discourse is over.Similarly, in the evening from 6p.m. to 8 p.m., we can again sitin silence. If we take out suchmoments of silence every dayour mind will calm down and wewill be able to ward offnegative, wasteful and viciousthoughts. This practice willspeed up our efforts to controland conquer the mind.5.Power of elevatedconduct: We all say that wehave power of knowledge andpower of yoga. Along withthese two important powers, wealso have the power ofdharana – elevated inculcationor elevated conduct. Thisrepresents the manifestation ofthe essence of knowledge andyoga in practical life. If wehave the power of dharana, wedo not complicate and implicateour thoughts unnecessarily. Wewill always think, speak and actaccording to the Godly code ofconduct and Brahmin culture. This works like a safety belt.We will always hold on to theright path with ease and poise, even under trying

circumstances. Again, churningpoints of knowledge andmeditation will also strengthenthe power of dharana.6. Power of love: We all loveGod. Even in the path ofdevotion, people long for peace, happiness, solace and securityfrom God. Therefore, generating love for God is anatural tendency amongsthuman souls. In fact, no specialeffort is required to develop lovefor God. Love of God is theumbilical cord through whichwe are fed with the nectar ofsuper-sensuous joy. God’spower flows to us likeelectricity flows through a hightension wire. We areempowered and fulfilled with thepower of God. Those whoreceive the love of God can onlyunderstand its power and fortransformational effect.7. Power of bliss: The mindhas been looking for happinessin persons, places, things, scenes and scenery. Happinessseems impossible in the dailyroutines of our material livesuntil we meet God and startremembering Him. This helpsus to be free from dependencyto everything around usincluding matter and materialthings. This gives rise to thefeeling of Bliss, the purest andhighest form of happiness. There is total freedom and themind stops wanderings.

8.Power of elevatedcompany: We have been in thecompany of human beings fora very long time and are able touse the energy of mind is themost effective may possible. Now, we are blessed to havethe company and companion-ship of God Himself. This is themost elevated companionshipwhich everyone in the worldcannot get. Only a few blessedand special souls get this uniqueopportunity to enjoy thecompany of God.

So, the conquering of mind isnot impossible. It is easilypossible for a Godly student anda Godly servant. There arethousands of such students whohave conquered the frivolitiesand frailties of the mind.Through study of GodlyKnowledge and Practice ofRajyoga Meditation. We askedfor support and understanding;we demanded or expected buteach relationship made us feelinadequate and wanting formore.

But as I establish relationshipwith God, an eternal pure being,it gives meaning and fulfilmentto my life. This is the mostelevated companionship thatanyone is the world can get. Heis our father and Mother,Teacher, our Satguru and ourFriend. Each of the relationshipwith Supreme fills us withqualities and makes us whole.

Today, our schools arefocused more ondelivering academic

excellence while the subject ofValue Education is almostexcluded from their curriculum. However, in my opinion, thereis an urgent need to incorporatevalue and moral education in theschool curriculum. Right fromthe pre-school years, the childshould be trained in developingvalues through story-telling,dramas and plays aimed atcharacter building andstrengthening the child’spersonality development. Themain objective of the curriculumdesigned by the school should bedevelopment of positivesanskars in children so that theycan successfully face thechallenges in their later life andgenerate creative and positiveresponses in any situation.

The word ‘value’ is oftenconfused with the attitude ofgiving respect to elders orfollowing social rules andregulations. But to me, a valueis a virtue which can be acquiredand developed throughconcentration of positivepersonality traits within aperson.

VALUES IN EDUCATION

– Kruti Suchak, MumbaiLOVE

The first in the order is thevirtue of love. Love is our trueand original nature. Childrenare born to spread love aroundthem. Their true nature is to beloveful. But because of theirupbringing or peer pressure andold and conventional teachingmethods, this virtue is seldomfound in the today’s classroom.Children are more interested ingetting number of stars in theirexercise books or scoring highmarks in exams and additionallymore interested in fame, gloryand attention seeking behaviour, and are, therefore, prone tovices such as jealousy, back-biting or gossiping. If childrenare made aware that their truenature is to love and to beloved, there will be no need ofcounsellors and childpsychologists. For this virtue tobe inculcated in children, self-awareness, introspection andmeditation should be made aregular practice and a dailyroutine in the school. Whenthey realize their true self, theywill gradually make effort tomould their personality andtransform their negativebehaviour into positive one.

HAPPINESSThe second virtue is the

virtue of happiness. Childrenshould be so much engulfedwith happiness that it becomesa part of their personality.Because of lack of happinessin their lives, children becomeprone to mental and physicaldisorders at a very tender age.Right at the pre-school stage, training should be given to openup their wings of expression sothat they can emerge as shiningstars and happy beings. Apartfrom laying emphasis onreading, writing and arithmeticskills, focus also need to begiven in allowing their naturalself to develop, throughactivities like dance, drama andstory-telling. Let the soul dance, let the soul be allowed true self-expression, let the soul spreadits wings and fly high, and letthe chains of formal educationbe cut to allow freedom to thechildren. As they grow up andface adversity and challenges,it will be these values andvirtues which will mould andtransform them into becomingvictors and winners, by turningchallenges into opportunities. The teacher’s personality alsoplays a pivotal role in thedevelopment of children. Itshould be such that there is anautomatic flow of love andhappiness when he/she entersthe classroom, bringing light and

Page 16: THE WORLD RENEWAL FOR APRIL ISSUE 2013

17The World Renewal, April 2013

brilliance of happiness onto the children’s faces. Theteacher should perform his/her duties in soul-consciousness, that is, while teaching he/she shouldremember that he/she is a soul and so are the childrenwhom he is teaching. Teachers should serve as dedicatedand ideal mentors. Since children learn more byobservation, absorption and experience, it is importantthat the teachers present themselves as such role modelswhom the children can look up to for guidance andinspiration. If the teacher acts with this consciousness, the development and progress of children would be muchfaster and easier as compared to what has been hithertoachieved.

PEACEThe third virtue is the virtue of peace. In today’s

classroom, cases of children with hyper activity andaggressive behaviour problems are on the increase. Itsuggests that the state of mind of the children is notpeaceful but disturbed. A more ‘soulful’ education cancalm the mind, warm the heart and awaken peacefulnature of young students. The schools and teacherstogether should provide a positive environment whereyoung people are encouraged to maintain inner state ofcalm and learn more about self-awareness, self-controland personal responsibility. This will help the child tolearn to be at peace with his own self and with the outsideworld, thus enabling him to imbibe and grasp things better. In addition to this, every hour for one minute, the teachershould conduct meditation exercises and guide thechildren to be in silence helping them to maintain innerpeace and tranquillity.

PURITYThe last, but the most important virtue is that of purity.

The more self-aware the children are, the more upliftedand enlightened their personality will become. If rightfrom their pre-school age, the foundation of pure andpositive thoughts is laid stronger in children, the fasterand easier it will be to mould their personality. With properdevelopment of these virtues, rest of the virtues willautomatically follow and flow within a child’s personality.

WOMAN ASHOMEMAKER– B.K. Anand Mohan Hans, Delhi

Creative Online Poetry Competition(Held in November 2012)

When God first thought of building theworldHe created Woman for its foundation,Gave her company of Man – a homingbirdFor her help, support and salvation.

God then gave her a home to live in,Gifted her with Love and MotherhoodTo decorate and make it into a heaven.Yes – a message which she ablyunderstood

The world once again was in greatturmoil,It was burning itself in hate and anger;Looked things would soon come to theboilAs the world wouldn’t hold on any longer.

It was then God took over the world’saffairs; He turned to the woman as His mainstrengthTo rid all homes of burden of worriesand give caresAs she can go with her mission to anylength.

Born of the woman when I grew into oneGod wished I were not a mereHomemakerHe gave me a role but a much biggeroneTo play mother to His children as Worldmaker.

Jagdamba, Lakshmi, Durga – all werewomen; For what they did for the humanityThey are worshipped as goddesses ofheaven; If they did it, why can’t you? WhisperedGod to me.

The concept of timeinterests us all. Einsteinmay have postulated the

relativity of time. Theapproaching end of time by theMayan calendar toNostradamus predictions ofdestruction annotates theprogress or the very survival ofus humans. Despite all theprogress that modern sciencehas brought about, theuncertainties of the five elementsor the ailments afflicting thehuman body still remain beyondhuman control andunderstanding. Despiteadvancement and progress inevery direction, uncertaintypervades us all.

ENVIRONMENTALPOLLUTION

The environment is beingburnt, cut down and decimated.Even the miniscule carbondioxide continuously threatenshuman habitats polluting theenvironment to no end, leadingto global warming. It is fearedthat the Ice Cover and rain-forests making together ourplanet earth habitable for us

humans may suffer destructiondue to our own exploitationsthus threatening our verysurvival on earth.Relationship betweenindividuals, the building block ofthe human race, has sufferederosion in values beyondrecognition in recent times.Aging parents have to findshelter in old-age homes andbreak-up of marriages is fastbecoming a norm rather thanan exception. The Nuclear stockpile is nowmeasured in terms of ‘howmany times over can wedestroy the earth’. Is this thedefinition of power; is this theprogress that one may havevisualized any time during thecourse of evolution? Are we tolose our very identity as humansunder the march of the so-called development andprogress?

Are we heading towardsdestruction or will there

be a change, atransformation?

These are the questions thatare haunting the human race

with even greater severity andwith no answers in sight.Despite the population crossing700-crore mark on the Earthtoday, there has not been athought for humanity. Longenough we have ignored orundermined the answer whichlies beyond the human mind, beyond human power.“The Call of Time” is now forthe pronouncement in theShrimad Bhagwad Gita. “Yadayada hi Dharamasyaglanibhavati bharata…….”

This is the time when GodHimself descends on Earth toend the vices plaguing thehumankind and re-establishgoodness and righteousness andre-create a beautiful world (theGolden Age).

NOW OR NEVERLet us be aware that this is

not the end of the world but anew beginning, a creation of anew and beautiful world. Let usnot be afraid of destruction. Letus instead prepare ourselves forthat beautiful world to emerge.

This new age of transfor-mation is very valuable. It’s nota time to sit back and fear. It’sa time to wake up and starttransforming ourselves beforethe transformation beginsoutside. This is so because theoutside circumstances, like, nuclear proliferation, globalwarming, population explosionetc., are now out of our control

and they are only going to worsen. The need, therefore, is to empowerourselves with God’s powers. These powers will help us to facetough situations in this age oftransformation. So let thepreparation begin before it getstoo late.

Yes we can ignore thismessage, but that would be

at our own perilCome, let’s use the power of our

intellect to take a decision and notignore this message since this isthe only opportunity we all have. The choice is in our hands – eitherto ignore the descent of God onEarth or to use this opportunity toprepare ourselves for the age oftransformation and make our livesbeautiful now.

Who am I? Who is God? Howdoes the cycle of time (kaal-chakra) revolve – answers to allthese questions have beenprovided by none other than theAlmighty Authority Himself.

- B.K. Kristina, USA

Not something you get or give

But who you are and how you live

Seeing beyond the layers to the light

Understanding others feelings right

Sharing the innocence of a pure heart

Allowing others to play their part

Realizing you are full and overflowing

Trusting the inner voice and knowing

Being happy and sharing happiness too

Giving full attention to all you do

Believing in one’s capacity to change

Being in the present, let the trust reign

A glance, a flicker will tell you all,

If it’s love or just ego’s fall

If it’s care, compassion or a faith

Or it’s fear, suppression or a shade

Try not to take this from the other

As it’s time to awaken the mother!

The mother inside who nurtures the heal

Mother earth who also teaches the deal

Time has come to realize our fate

Weren’t we born to give ’n not to take?

See each one is a loving being here,Love from the core, have no fear.

Flattery is telling theother person

precisely what hethinks about himself

Values are at the bottomof everything we do.They determine a lot of

what we attempt andaccomplish in our lives. If wegive weight and importance tosomething we will give it timeand energy. But can values reallybe taught, or are they passed onfrom one generation to anotherthrough inspiration andperspiration?

If you were asked to place amonetary value on yourself, what would be your reply? Howmuch are you worth? If yourchild needed some of your timewhat amount of money wouldyou quote as your worth? Howmuch would one need to pay toget some honesty out of you? Orperhaps there is a special dealon respect this week but NOTlove! It’s not to do with the dollarvalue. It relates to thedenomination of one’s selfworth!

In fact, values lie in the heartof every soul regardless ofwhether we can ‘feel’ them ornot. Each time we make adecision, a value is at play.

Values earn us blessings. Thetidings of love help to oil thewheels of our lives and makethem smoother. Success andvictory arrive easily. Valuesearn us loyalty and friendship.Values earn us more money aswe demonstrate trust andhonesty. Values earn us fidelityand dignity. This income isendless and at the same timepriceless.

Our conscience relies totallyon our set of values. If our corevalues are justice and fairness,we try to ensure that they arereflected in our every action. If our key value is sweetness,we will ensure that we do nothurt others. Otherwise, ourconscience will surely betroubled. In other words, it willspeak out and tell us that whatwe are about to do is inalignment with our ‘real’ self ornot. Listening to ourconscience is a big part ofexercising and asserting ourvalues.

How much something isworth depends on how muchyou value it! You may not value

something until you really needit. And in that situation, you maybe willing to pay exorbitant sumsof money for the object of yourdesire. Thus the value ofsomething is also rated on theneed of the moment.

When we respect our ownselves, we are functioning fromour core values of love, truth, kindness, respect, peace and joy. This is what gives value orimportance to the soul. A personfilled with values, is likely toearn more at all levels, asemployers are not just lookingfor the academic credentials, but also the soul qualities.

With so much deceit andcorruption floating around, thereis no better time to act out ofvalue and virtue. Many peoplesay they have to lie to makemoney or conduct theirbusiness, but money earned inthat way is deceiving you intothinking you own it – and verysoon it will leave your handsalso.

It’s Time… to share ourvalues: unity, simplicity, cooperation, tolerance, humility, love, peace, respect, freedomand more. Value your life andall personal resources – weknow that money can’t buy life, but the blessings and goodwishes of others have certainlyproven to heal the soul and body.We know that a palace is not

It is one of the most difficultquestions for mankind.Centuries have passed by,

relationships have bloomed andso has love. But no one hasgiven the proper definition oflove. You have to go all the wayto find it. No matter how youdefine it or feel it; love is theeternal truth in the history ofmankind. Poets and authors havetried to define love, whereasscientists have only recentlystarted. Many of us knowintuitively that love is one of themajor purposes of living; thatconnection is inherent in all thatwe do, and without love, wecannot survive as a species.

FIRST, LET’S STARTOFF WITH WHAT LOVE

ISN’TLove doesn’t look for greener

pastures. Love doesn’t boast. Itdoesn’t try to build itself up tobe something it isn’t. It doesn’tact in a loose, immoral way. Itdoesn’t seek to take, but itwillingly gives. It doesn’t lose itstemper. It doesn’t keep changingits mind.

SO WHAT EXACTLYTRUE LOVE IS?

Love is patience, love is kind.It has no envy, nor it boastsabout itself and it is never proud.

It rejoices over the evil and isseeker of the truth. Loveprotects preserves and aspiresfor the positive aspects of life.

It enhances the relationshipsand comforts the soul. Love isexperienced and not just felt. The depth of love cannot bemeasured. Look at therelationship between a motherand a child. The mother lovesthe child unconditionally and itcannot be measured at all. Adifferent dimension can beattained between anyrelationships with the magic oflove.

Love can be created. Youjust need to focus on thegoodness of the other person. If this can be done easily, thenyou can also love easily. Andremember we all have somepositive aspect in us, no matterhow bad our deeds may be.

Love is the one thing that cannever hurt anyone, although itmay cost dearly. The paradoxof love is that it is supremelyfree yet attaches us with bondsstronger than death. It cannotbe bought, sold or bargained forthere is nothing it cannot face;love is life’s greatest blessing. But where to find love? Wheredoes love come from? Well,

love is who we are. Love isintrinsic to human nature. Butwhen we lose sight of the factthat we are love, we startlooking for it outside in objects, people and possessions. However, with spiritualunderstanding, I can constantlyremind myself that I am the soul;a loving soul and child ofsupreme soul, the Ocean ofLove. As I connect with God,the Supreme Soul, the purequalities of Peace and Lovestart overflowing within me. Itis God’s love that makes us whowe are. It teaches us to loveourselves and to love others.

As Incorporeal God Shiva inthis Confluence Age, says“Love all, trust Me and Drama;and do wrong to none.”

LOVE

– BK Preeti, Lucknow

everything, if it does nothave the atmosphere of loveand peace. We also know thata five-course meal is notsatisfying if not eaten withfriends and family. Try givinga thirsty person in thedessert, a treasure chest fullof gold, and he will be willingto trade it just for a glass ofwater; the treasure chest willhave no value!

Believe me it is only incrisis that a man’s true senseof values comes to thesurface, while in normaltimes one may behave in ahypocritical manner andidealism.

The quality of one’s lifedepends on the quality ofone’s emotions and

feelings. If anyone is habituallyperturbed, indifferent andreluctant to invite new things inone’s life, change cannot beexpected. Contrary to the above,if one evinces interest inchanging his way of thinking, one’s life is sure to incrementallychange to the extent of theefforts put in. But a large chunkof negative stuff that is deeply-rooted in the sub-conscious minddoes not permit us to change aseasily as we propose. It requiresour determination as well.

Some people show interest inself-change; from being angry topeaceful, negative to positive, but due to lack of knowledge, determination and its properapplication, they fail to get thedesired results and they give up.Inner change is a keycomponent that reflects in ourouter life. Hence, focusingattention on ‘self’ and a fewother factors is a must.

QUALITY OF INPUTSThe inner stuff forms the

basis for outer stuff. A regular

dose of optimistic, motivating/inspiring thoughts with faithwould slowly bring change inone’s life. One should not getdisheartened, in case of failurein his endeavours initially. Oneneeds patience as the keyparameter for self-improve-ment in life is to watch one’sown thoughts and actionsconstantly.

One needs to disallownegative feelings andtendencies before they aretranslated into action. One should also thoroughlyunderstand one’s pattern ofthinking.A constant self-check and arigorous self-analysis wouldhelp to understand one’sshortcomings and overcomethem.Sowing positive inputscontinuously in the field ofmind and nurturing them dailywould slowly cause positivechange.

There is no magic wand tochange negative feelings, emotions, thoughts etc.overnight as change is a

continuous process.

What’s permanent in life?Everything get transformedwithout any exception in thisworld. A positive change onlycan give you better life.Progress has a direct link withpositive change. A rapid changein the past few decadestriggered enormous develop-ment in science & technologyand opened unlimited materialcomforts to humankind. Withone click, people can watchwhat’s happening in the world. The other side of the coin has abig list of unending woes viz.,work pressure, tension, strainedhuman relations, a feeling ofinsecurity, mistrust and so on.This shows that we are living ina world of chaos and insecuritywhich demands that weincrease our inner potential andcapacity to respond to outsidechange. For this we need to beever willing to bring on inside-out change as this alone can leadus to success and happiness.Though the change may appearto be difficult and even painfulbut it will make you a strongerperson. Take the instance of aneagle.

THE EAGLE STORY...Generally, eagle lives up to 60

years, but to reach this age, itmust take a tough decisionwhen it is in its 30s. Its long andflexible talons can no longergrab prey which serves as food. Its long and sharp beak becomes

bent. Its old-aged and heavy wings, dueto their thick feathers, become stuck toits chest and makes it difficult to fly.

THEN EAGLE IS LEFT WITHONLY TWO OPTIONS

Die or go through a painful process ofchange which lasts for four and a halfmonths. The process requires that eaglefly to a mountain and knock its beakagainst a rock until it plucks out.

After this, the eagle waits for a newbeak to grow back. When its new talonsgrow back, the eagle starts plucking itsold and heavy feathers and after fourand a half months, eagle can take its flightof rebirth and live for 30 more years.

MORAL OF THE STORYMany times, in order to have a better

life, we have to accept the changeprocess and adapt to it. First andforemost we need to manage the worldof our thoughts, feelings and attitudes. We need to get rid of old memories, habits and other past traditions. Oncefreed from past burdens, we can derivebenefit from the present.

Rajyoga Mind ManagementTechniques teach us how negativethoughts be transformed into positivefeelings and actions. In other words,Rajyoga Meditation being taught by GodShiva through Prajapita Brahma KumarisIshwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya, if practicedregularly and systematically, can help youto stay peaceful and calm.

However, a very strong desire is thepreparatory ground to accomplish anygoal. Just like a weak rope cannot pullthe heavy load, a weak desire cannotproduce great results.

—Jacobs Adewale, Nigeria

Who can see the justiceBeneath the shades of myriad baseless holy warsBarricading clemency with rancorous wallsHewed from the bricks of greed and anomalies

Embedded in the rigorous fray of conviction forspiritual solaceIs the triumph of religious fanaticism.Muslims, Christians, aren’t we all the same?Inventively crafted by an architect naive of racism

Doctrines may differThough we remain domiciled and distances apartIt matters not how far nor status at parFor as long as the embers of love forever linger inour heart

The afflictions of the hopeless and helplessCuddling egocentrism and sharing little kindness.Gone wrong for such odium to overshadow us?So being humane feels lame, elongating thepervasive fuss

The engravings on the wall spelling unityWith shrieks and cries to gain in amity.Aren’t we all parts of one cosmic familyDeserving to live in peace, fulfilment and happily?

Days fleeting, spawning evil bringing end still nearAnd we must surpass the flaws and overcomegruesome fear,Trading pious affections since all are so dearOur best bet to take Godly clue now and here.

THE FRAY OFCONVICTIONS

Page 23: THE WORLD RENEWAL FOR APRIL ISSUE 2013

The World Renewal, April 201324

Honourable father of ourgreat nation, MahatmaGandhi, a truly great

soul carried out his famous‘Experiments with truth’. But,today, the truth means so manydifferent things to differentpeople. So I restrict myself to‘The Experiments withRajyoga.’ I found these“Experiments” to be of greathelp in my personal as well asprofessional life. In fact, aperson who is happy andpeaceful within shall be happyand peaceful in any situation. The personal and theprofessional lives then lose theirdifferentiation.

I found Rajyoga differentfrom other meditations. It is a‘Multi-component capsule’that cures all the ills in our lives. There are more than 200 typesof Meditation available today. Some of them come inexpensive and attractivecommercial packages to takeout on a novel journey in fourthdimension. Our Mind on thePath of Preyas (pleasure)instead of choosing the Path ofShreyas (glory), always getstempted to try out different

Sir J J Hospital, Mumbai-8

modalities that are available. One serious drawback of thisexercise is that it makes uswaste the most valuable ‘Time-resource’ at our disposal. Sothe confusion and the milliondollar question arise in our Mind.Which meditation to choose? My practical, down to earth andself-centered Kalyugi Mind toldme- “Naturally the one that isFree of Cost, easily available, quick in giving desired results, and, of course, it should betotally scientific.” This waslike the criteria of getting a“Beauty with brains” whichprospective bridegrooms todayapply for the selection of thebride, forgetting their ownphysical, intellectual andfinancial status. To my surprise,Rajyoga turned out to be a“Kalpataru” that fulfilled all ofmy desires and dreams. Myhusband though gentle but wasextremely short-tempered.Within three months ofRajyoga, he was a changedperson. Firstly his terrible angerand then his irritating episodesof irritation went on diminishing,to my great relief. Today, I cancertify that he is fairly peaceful

person.The Seven-Day Free of Cost

foundation course in Rajyogagave me a new concept. So Iwent through the process ofcollecting information and thenanalyzing it before accepting it.My Scientist Logical Mind gavea clear “Go ahead”. Thereappeared no danger of any sort. The main hurdle was aboutcelibacy which I believed fellinto the domain of my husband. But a long practice of Rajyogafor fifteen years has lifted themind to a relatively stable, verypowerful, pure and ontological(Satvik) consciousness thatmade ‘impossible’ as “I ampossible.” Secondly, at that pointof time, the stress in life wasthe imminent problem thatrequired immediate solution.Extreme stress had become theinseparable part of our livesafter ten years of working in arural medical college atAmbejogai before the transferto Mumbai.

The “Experiments withRajayoga” are best donebetween 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. Thisperiod of time is known as“Amritvela, i.e., the nectar timein BK - parlance or commonlycalled “Brahm Muhurt”[Brahmi is also a herb thatempowers mind]. The first“Experience” was that the mindbecame focused as wellrelaxed very quickly duringAmritvela as compared to othertime slots. Within a period of,

Page 24: THE WORLD RENEWAL FOR APRIL ISSUE 2013

25The World Renewal, April 2013

may be ten days, a sudden“Flow of Positive Thoughts”began as if from Cosmos duringmeditation. Soon mySpiritualist Mind startedtelling me that these divinethoughts are nothing else but thespecific instructions from theDivinity for self-improvement.This was nothing less than aSWOT-analysis [Strength,Weakness, Opportunity andThreat], the modern mantra forsuccess in life. This was a“Guru mantra” from theSupreme Consciousness for“My Ears only.” Very soon, the strengths started gettingpotentiated and the variousweaknesses started dis-appearing. The calm andfocused mind starteddifferentiating the threatsdisguised as goldenopportunities and theopportunities that come in thedisguise of threat. The instantdecisions in life-situationsstarted becoming errorless.Recent entity in neurosciencecalled “Allen’s brain map”tells that the brain contains some“Neuro-genes” which controlsomatic genes. A happy andpeaceful state of mind activatesthese genes, initiates“Ultradean rhythms in brainwhich activate “healingmechanisms” in our body andbring about miraculous cures bycorrecting the faulty somaticgenes. I now believe that BK

Dr. Chandrashekhar, one of themain speakers here, got curedof a formidable cancer,Hepatitis C and Diabetespossibly through this kind ofmechanism.

It is possible that initially onemay fail to draw such ‘DivineInspirations’ during meditation. There is one remedy for such asituation. Attend ‘Murli’ classesregularly. Note down in a special‘Spiritual diary’ any point orpoints in Murli that touch yourheart. It may also happen thatduring Murli-class, you may bestruck with a sudden bout ofdrowsiness. Naturally no pointshall be able to touch your heartin this state. This is the “Microform” of Maya, Shaitan or thedevil which tries to pull youaway from “The straightPath” or what Holy Quranmentions as “Sirat almustaqim.”Muster all of yourwill-power to remain attentiveand note down regularly fivepowerful instructions in eachMurli called Title, TheQuestion and Answer,Essence for inculcation,Blessings and Slogan. Readthis text before going to sleep. The next morning, during Amrit-vela Meditation, contemplateon any one of these powerfulinstructions. According toUniversal Law of Attraction[ULA], sooner or later, a flowof positive thoughts shall beginfrom the Cosmos. But one has

to continue this Spiritual efforttill that golden moment. I nowbelieve that this is the beginningof your journey into the GoldenAge. Subsequently, everythingshall be easy, automatic andeffortless, because, at this stagethe most powerful andsubconscious mind takes overthe reins. Go on catching all ofthese inspirations; contemplateover them till they are stored inthe memory for use in the laterpart of the day, which is usuallyfull of different kinds ofturbulences.

A powerful technique called‘PMS or Post MeditationSuggestion’ is greatly helpfulin maintaining the ‘Spiritualequipoise’ in all kinds ofdisturbing situations. In thistechnique, a command is givento the mind soon after the endof Meditation. Tell your mind‘Maintain the peaceful andblissful state in which you arenow throughout the day and letme start my meditation on thenext day from this elevatedstate of consciousness.’ Ourmonkey-like agile mind is like achild in this state. It listens tothe command, remembers it andobeys it without any mistake.Initially, one may fail in theseexperiments. But within aperiod ranging from 10 days to3 months, one shall experiencethat the mind has been tamedto total obedience. This is thepower over mind which is called

Some think that everything in this world isunreal or an illusion (Maya) but this is notso. The drama, the stage, the actors and

the roles are real enough, but it is our vision ofthings, and our deductions, that can be illusory. The basic illusion, “I’m a body,” is like a threadrunning through the existence of majority on whichall other thoughts, decisions and actions arestrung.

The eternal soul, believing itself to be finite witha beginning and end, gives birth to a myriad ofillusory desires and to such psychologicalinsecurity that it tries to protect or support itselfwith scaffolding comprising the five main negativeforces; lust, anger, greed, attachment and ego.The soul confuses itself by basing its total self-identification on the physical body: “I am so-and-so, the son of so-and so, the resident of such-and-such a place, of this or that religion or race;I’m in such a natural offspring of the thought, “I’ma body,” the eternal soul becomes trapped in aworld of temporary illusions, likes and dislikes.

The action (the soul) doesn’t only believe thatit is the costume (the body), but also the role thatit is playing. Thus, this ego-sense or body-consciousness doesn’t only restrict the soul toits form but to its name as well. While the soulremains a prisoner of its own role and form, itcan’t see the wider aspects of the drama of life inwhich it is involved. It remains restricted to theconditions of each place, moment andcircumstance, bound by past habits and attitudes. If the situation is in harmony with the soul, it feelsgood; if not, it feels dejected and finds ways toescape from the imaginary or real threats of thatsituation. In this way, the soul passes from one

becomes incapacitated due tothe unfinished karmic load. ButI also believe that if onecontinues these “Experiments”regularly then a day shall comewhen all of the karmic load

scene to another, like a piece of cork on the highseas at the mercy of its own destiny. The soul inbody-consciousness cannot control its ownmovements, but the external conditions, whichthe soul itself is continually determining accordingto the law of cause and effect, impose them. Lostin the waves of attractions and repulsions, restricted thus by the name and form of its body, the soul feeds and is fed by many illusions: “I’llstay with you, you’ll give me everything I wantfrom life”, I want to eat, see, hear, taste, and feelthis and that, because these things will give mewhat I want.” Such desires are as endless as thetask is impossible and futile.

The door that opens to the world of spiritualknowledge and inculcation of positive qualities isthe thought “I am a peaceful soul.” This thought, made with the understanding of its implications,is the most powerful and pure thought possible. Itis this thought that immediately stills the restlessmind and creates the stability necessary to absorbspiritual knowledge and power. It is this thoughttoo, that channels the soul’s potential for good.Just as a river when properly harnessed providesa reservoir that can serve to uplift others. Just asan uncontrolled river causes floods, theungoverned mind causes damage to the self andto others.

The consideration and concentration on worldlythings, though obviously necessary, does not fillthe soul with the bliss it seeks. By concentratingon understanding the atom, scientists haveunleashed the power within it. Similarly, byconcentrative lovefully on the soul and its eternalbond to the Supreme Soul, we can unleash ourown potential and pure power.

shall be burnt out and we shallbe ever healthy, ever wealthyand ever happy. May be this isthe ultimate Karmateet state.

It is widely accepted that noone is born great; however,a soul can become great by

dint of his/her hard-work,dedication, spiritual knowledge, faith in God and through otheracts of greatness. He, who hasa will to do, can rise. But at thesame time, you cannot climb theladder of success hands down.Success is not easily served ona platter. It requires hard work, commitment and a keenattention towards your highestgoal.

Great souls came intoexistence because they believedin purposes and not merewishes. They believed in how, when and why and not in ‘takeit as it is’. They believed inpractice and reality rather thanin vanity, pride and so on.

Swami Vivekananda oncesaid, “Act, act, act and wait notfor result but only for theFRUIT”. Don’t wait for theopportunities to come and knockthe door, just grab it. Act yourpart efficiently well with honourand dignity. It can also be said

that life of others can be asource of inspiration as othergreat men can also be teachersfor you. They who think, ‘theycan’t do’ are never able to doit. One should always be anoptimist. The common naturethat Great Men shared wassimple living and high thinking, the love of mankind organizedthem and they set on to worklaboriously to make the earth abetter place to live in.

The noblest men that live onearth are the ones whose handsare soiled with the colour of toil. The more the expectations, themore difficulties there will be.Almighty has given man twohands, not to feed his own selfbut to lend, ‘a helping hand’ toothers. God helps those whohelp themselves; one who feels

and empathises with others actsas an instrument of God.

“The more happiness yougive, the more you receive”. Incase of any doubt or any actcausing a loss of happinessfrom your hearts and minds, weshould try to receive the eternalblessings of love and peacefrom Supreme Father, theOcean of Love, Peace,Prosperity and Divine Powersand then spread such vibrationsaround us. You have to dedicateyourself to the service ofhumanity and love all humanbeings irrespective of the colourof their skin, their religion andthe region they come from. Begood and do good to all and alltimes so as to fill yourself withnoble virtues.

This is equally true that all thiscannot be attained so easily andsimply. It needs Sacrifice,Dedication, Love, Faith,Respect, Patience, Toleranceand above all a Strong-Determination to work for thehuman well-being. All this willenable us to lead our life in themost true and meaningful way.

JAIL ORREFORMATION HOME?

– B.K. Pradeep Singh,Dist. Jail, Gorakhpur

I don't know how I shoulddepict my past life andthe subsequent change

that took place in my inner-self. Yet I cannot keep thechange only with me. But Iwould like to share myexperience with otherbrothers and sisters so thatthey can understand thatchange for the better ispossible, I came from amiddle class family. My fatherRadheshyam Singh wasPolice Officer in UttarPradesh and I had twobrothers and sisters. But in1983, when I was just 15 yrsold, tragedy struck as five ofmy family members werekilled by some people. I wasflooded with feelings ofrevenge and was misled intothe path of crime. In mydesperation, I killed 12people and was charged in1988 with 10 cases. Theresulting imprisonment onlyfuelled the fire of revenge inme. Even though I wasreleased from jail in April1999, my criminal activities

continued unabatedly somuch that a prize wasoffered on my name. I wassoon captured and sentbehind the bars. From withinthe confine of prison, I stoodup for election and waselected as Block Chairman. But my hardships continuedas opposition party levelledfalse accusations against me.As luck would have it, onemore murder put me intoGorakhpur Jail.

It was here in the jail thatI learnt about the spiritualclasses being conducted bythe Brahma Kumaris. I alsojoined them and was giventhe 7-day course by B.K.Bro. Shiveshwar. Withcooperation of the jailadministrat ion andencouragement of the BKSisters, the Murli classesstarted in the jail on aregular basis. There weremore than 80 souls whoattended these Murli classesregularly. These classesbrought a significant changein me.

I was a very angry person. After regularly following theclasses, I learnt meditationthat helped me overcome myanger and feeling of revenge.Rajyoga meditation broughtgood wishes, simplicity andeasiness in my life. Thepractice of soul-consciousness made my mindcalm and powerful and gaveme strength to control egoand anger. It is my goodfortune that Baba has donewonders in my life. My lifehas undergone such a sea-change that in the absence ofB.K Brothers and Sisters, Inot only conduct the Murliclasses but also conduct the7-day courses.

For me the jail has notbeen a place of punishmentor penance but it has been aplace of change andreformation where I couldcleanse my mind which hadbecome dirty and viciouswith sinful feelings of crimeand revenge. O' Baba, youhave done wonders andmagic to me!

Andthere is as much chance of thatas taking off in that planewithout wings. In fact, there ismore chance of flying in aplane with no wings thanhaving real happiness in thisworld.

We just go roundand round with everyonechasing after us yet we seemto cause nothing but sorroweverywhere we go. Even wehave a headache now”.Money today does make theworld go round – but thewrong way. Now the worldspins backwards out ofcontrol. The force spinningthis world is greed and itsdesire for money and all that

it can bring. Yet the crazyaspect to all this desire formoney is; money does notcreate happiness in your lifethe more you have of it. In reality, you get morehappiness from bananas thanmoney. Better to have a goodbunch of bananas than lots ofmoney. Bananas give you goodhealth whist money only ulcers. The man with nice bananas isto be envied, and the manalways in the bank, pitied. It’smore fortunate to have a goodhand of bananas than a fistfulof money.

The Invisible Police –Karma

Life should be all aboutgiving and receiving pleasure.Yet we always seem to betaking pain in one way oranother. Rare is the soul whois in constant pleasure. It is theduty of karma to constantlyfollow you about and exactpunishment or fruit on you, according to your actions andthoughts. It is the karmapolice’s duty to come and makeyou laugh or cry. Many arebored to death with life, and thistoo, is their karma and thepolice at work. Karma cannotsit about idly with nothing to do.Karma is employed by God togive out rewards, and that hedoes as God is a very strictManager. Anyone who worksfor God must do as He saysimmediately, as karma alsofollows His workers mostcarefully and does not miss atrick. It’s now your duty tosettle any outstanding debtsyou may have with KarmaPLC. The debt collectors arevery clever and will find youand make you pay if you do notpay up now.

heard and His newspapers to be delivered toevery home.

Can you make sense of a record being playedbackwards? All human beings have their feet ontheir accounts in the soles of their shoesaccumulated throughout life. This is why theyare walking backwards – very slowly, and witha limp. It’s like their car they get into everydayis stuck in reverse. They have shoes made up oftheir life’s history. The leather pinches their toesand rubs their heels until walking (living) becomesa problem. They aim to walk forward but theystep on to the conveyer belt of karma whichautomatically is set to travel backwards. You canonly move forward if you jump onto God’sconveyer belt, which is always moving forwards.

There are some clever people about today whocan speak fluently five or six languages. Yet thereally clever ones amongst us will be fluent inGod’s language, the language of love spoken ina dialect of humility. God’s language is alwaysworth learning and studying. I was neverinterested in learning French at school; now Iknow why it’s far more rewarding to become astudent of God, than to get a job later in life as awell paid translator. Man pays peanuts whilstGod rewards you with a heavenly world forconstantly working for Him. Even if you workpart time for God, the rewards are still incredibleand unsurpassed in terms of ‘effort to reward’ratio. He offers the best holiday pay and workingconditions and employee benefits. Where elsecan you get paid holiday leave of two thousandyears? It is God alone who can offer such aworking contract with such marvellous bonusesand conditions.

It's a tough life. Some days it's hard to getout of bed and get going. Why? How comeour levels of enthusiasm seem to fall so

easily? Why can't we get ourselvesmotivated? Simple really. We try to reversethe energy flow in a universe where all energyis radiating outwards. We try to break one ofthe spiritual laws. We are taught that winningand achieving is about getting and keeping, when the truth is that it is about giving.Winners are go givers not go-getters, and theirdefinition of winning is not getting one over onthe other guy, but overcoming their inertia andgiving something of themselves to someoneor something other than themselves. Thisreverses the flow of energy from outside in, toinside out, and as we all know, the deepestsatisfaction in life comes from giving. While itis hard to fathom living a life of giving, wheneveryone else is on the take, there is an ancientlaw which ensures that if we did, we wouldnever go without. I think you know what thatlaw is. It allows you to be motivated in acompletely different way. No need for anymagical formulas or rigid belief systems ...tryit today!! What you give is what you...

self-respect or love for themotherland, the nation iscertainly heading towards agrave peril, for the veryyouth will pull down thestructure which once theysupported and will destroy thevaluable heritage which theirforefathers so lovinglybequeathed them.

When man enters his youth, the carefree days of hischildhood and the period ofextravagant freedom hasalready been over, and its placehas now been taken up bygrowing sense of responsibility.Because of all these facultiesand the high tide in thereservoir of energy, man canuse his period of youth eitherto discover new pastures ofprosperity or to wreck theship of his life on the rocksof vile habits. One has, therefore, to be wise and carefulto use this most valuable partof life to achieve great goals ofthe nobility of spirit, the finenessof culture and fullness ofdevelopment.

But if one makes a survey ofthe activities to which youthhave generally been called uponto devote their energy, one feelsthat the high potentialities ofyouth have not been put to thebest and the most appropriateobjectives. These have, instead, been used to achieve onlyshort-term gains. It has sohappened that, over the past

two and a half thousandyears, the able-bodied youthhave, in tens of their millionsbeen misled to wage bloodywars. No doubt, the defenceand security of a country areimportant goals and the youth,by being enrolled in the militaryor police, get an occasion toprotect the motherland againstan aggressor and to manifesttheir sense of patriotism, spiritof sacrifice and their courageand valour but one might ask:“Wouldn’t it have been betterif their valuable humanenergy had been utilized forcreating such moral andsocio-economic conditionsthat wars could have beenbanished and nationalrivalries and animositiesended so that there was nolonger any fear of war orharm from a neighbouringcountry?”

Worthy instruments ofsocial change and

creativityIn order to build up and utilize

the spirit of service andconstructive attitude amongstyouth, the college students are,now-a-days, called upon to dosome social service. Some ofthem, therefore, go out duringthe vacations, to makeapproach roads or pedestrianpaths in villages whereas othersorganize the village youth andhelp them build canals so thatthey can water their fields. Suchkinds of actions are no doubt a

service to a section of themankind. But if, besides doingthis kind of service, the youthtake up the work of pavingthe path of their life withpurity, peace, honesty, integrity, sincerity andsympathy, they will be takinggreat steps towards buildinga clean society. If, besidesrendering help in building upcanals for watering the fields, they build up channels ofcommunication with God andwith people of differentcommunities, they would beusing their energy for wateringthe dying plants of moral valuesand cooperative living. If theyspend some energy for buildingbridges of understanding andcordiality, they would beworking as great and worthyinstruments of social change, moral transformation, economictransformation and spiritualcreativity.

They begin to do somethingfor the health and welfare ofothers. But, what a noblespirit it would be, if they havesuch moral strength that theyare prepared even to shedtheir blood for highprinciples and values! Whata great service to their nationit would be if they make a firmresolve that they would neverco-operate with those whosuck the blood of the poorlabour and who, in order tofill their coffers with coins, observe no scruples and no

sacred principles! What abrave act on their part itwould be never to think ofdoing a dastardly act ofshedding another’s blood!

May they win freedom ofthe basic kind!

The youth, in many countries, have been in the forefront, undaunted by the bayonets andbullets of a dominating, imperialist country so as toliberate their motherland.Thousands and millions in thepast had to face great trials andtribulations to win freedom fortheir homeland. Many sufferedtortures in dingy jails and othersfaced the hard and tryingeconomic and legalconsequences of demandingliberty and equality ofopportunity. But their youthfulhand held high the flag offreedom and the banner ofbravery. This speaks volumesfor the courage of the youth. Nodoubt, political freedom is likebreathing in fresh air for whichthe youth of many nations hadto struggle hard to come outfrom the stranglehold of theforeign yoke.

But slave mentality, sloth, savagery, moral senility andsocial disunity are a great curseon a nation, for it is these whichtake a nation to enslavementand foreign dominance. It isthese, which force people tobeg, to depend on others, to beslaves and servitors to sex lust, anger and greed. It would,

therefore, be the fulfilment ofthe greatest need of these timesif the modern youth wage arelentless war for the freedomof the spirit and for theemancipation of nations fromslavery and the evil of greed(which gives rise to demandsfor dowry and for othereconomic crimes), and fromanger which is the cause of allheinous crimes.

The youth who are the newgeneration can set newtraditions in vogue by taking toa new lifestyle based on moralreconstruction and co-operation.

New kinds of adventureand discovery

In fact, the youth havealways won appreciation andadoration for their acts ofadventure, bravery andsportsmanship. It is the youthwho scale new heights andreach new summits. They go toplaces, which were nottraversed by anyone before. They make explorations of landhitherto unvisited by any. Butthey would be doing a work ofvery great importance if theyembark upon the adventure ofentering into the new areas oftruth about the self and God.They would be making a multi-trillion discovery if they discoverthe key to the mystery of theself. Let them explore the areasof the spirit and they will findgreen lands and new pastures, which have tremendous wealth.

Let them go up the summit ofspiritual experience and reachthe pinnacles of peace.

The youth have almost anopen mind. They can think overthe prevalent ideas afresh anddo not feel themselves bound byany old ideas if these are notrational. They can thus acceptnew ideas, which are necessaryto establish a New World order. They can, therefore, be specialinstruments of change not onlybecause they have energy butbecause they are ‘new blood’;they can be the flag-bearers ofthe new revolution.

Accepting NewChallenges

The youth have that strongwill and stamina whichembolden them to accept newchallenges. Once a youth hassworn to win, he will face allodds and obstacles and makeall sincere efforts to keep to hiscommitment of the cherishedgoal. Particularly, he will defyall difficulties, bear greatburdens and face all troubles ifthe honour of his country is atstake. For his mother andmotherland, the youth will beprepared to sacrifice even thelast drop of their blood. Afterall, it is a question of one’s dutytowards her that bore all travailsof bearing, delivery and rearingthe child and of educating him.For her sake, the youth willconsider no sacrifice great andno hardship unbearable. Didn’tthe youth offer themselves for

the gallows for the freedom oftheir motherland? Didn’t theybare their chests for the bulletsif they could bring indepen-dence to their motherland? Butit is as sure as life that if theynow accept the challenge ofthe evil forces which haveganged up against man andhave brought untold miseriesto mankind, then the youthwill be doing a real serviceby helping to create a newsociety of goodness andhappiness. Will not, then, theyouth take up this last challengethat threatens the peace andpurity of mother Earth, andovercome all troubles that standin his way to reach the summitof purity and raise the flag offreedom-from-vices forever?Though this challenge will begreat and will require greatstrength of the spirit and theflesh yet, in this case, the helpof God, the Greatest and

Mightiest of beings, is availableto man and if he accepts theoffer, the victory is assured.

Let the youth now show anew and wider type of sports-man spirit, for the world, as GodShiva says, is a playground andwe all are the sportspersons. We must play a fair game andmust not break the rules. Wemust not play foul lest we shouldhave to pay the penalty. Let usplay the game in the spirit of thegame and let us not worry underany circumstances.

And if the youth is fond ofentering into the field of politics(for as Aristotle said, man is apolitical animal), then let himparticipate in politics of a kindthat really wins the hearts of themasses. Politics, it must beunderstood, is, in truth, not thename of a dirty game. It is thename given to the art ofgovernment and to statecraft. One, who is prepared to

accept the gauntlet, let himenter politics, but before hestarts politicking, let him firstlearn the art of ruling overthe self. Let him first governhis own sense organs and hismind and maintain his mindin a steady state; how dare heclaim to be a statesman andwhat noble sentiment promptshim to take up politics andaspire to enter the arena ofthe art of government? And,if one is already in politics, let him clean the Aegeanstables.

May, in this fashion, theyouth who are fond of fashion, work as great instruments ofgreat change and creativity!

Let us understand that in thisAge, when resources of energyare getting depleted, the energyof youth is in great supply. Letthis energy not be wasted onsex-films or on violence anddisruptive activities but oncreating a New World orderwhere there is amity, peace, lawand order. Let this energy notend in smoke because of thehabit of smoking; let it not bewasted on bloody wars. Let thisbe used towards fulldevelopment of the mind andspirit so as to conquer newpeaks of spiritual glory. Let theyouth help in the great task ofworld-transformation throughself-transformation.
