description

The purpose of this organization is for religious and secular education. It has been created to serve as means of bringing together the young, old and displaced people to be progressive and innovative. We are witnessing a generation of rapid rise in drug abuse, drug addiction, rape, assault, incarceration, hooliganism, shoplifting, vandalism and teen pregnancy among the youths. We are witnessing a rise in the number of HIV/AIDS cases among the young population because of prostitution and pre-mature births. All these activities are burdensome to the Federal government of America that must spend millions of dollars for social relief services. And the only way to stem the tide of these negative traits that is affecting the larger community is through ethical teachings and religious empowerment of the youth population. For the peace and harmony to reign, ethics should govern our daily activities and actions. Since the future of this world lies in the hands of the youths, this particular organization caters to the ethical needs of the youth population. They have to be educated and trained to cultivate honesty, truth, love and peace as their guiding principles in all their educational, social, cultural and political needs. When this ethics is carried out more and more of our teenage population will fill the classrooms instead of the jail rooms. Any society needs a robust youthful population and this association will make the kids know that the sky is the limit and move the nation forward morally and spiritually.

Ethics in our homes

A lot of homes are broken due to the fact that ethicalconducts have been shoved aside. Greed, individualismand survival of the fittest principle has now becomehome attitudes especially for our young population. They have not been taught how to respect their eldersand submit to common rules and regulations for asmooth functioning home. Divorces, and Separation toohave affected children in homes and they are left to fendfor themselves. Even some stable homes have domesticabuse that children see and record those actions in theirmemory that will resurface when they are adults. Thestate spends a lot of money sponsoring program aimedat restoring peace at homes but those actions seem notto be bearing fruits because of lack of systematic ethicalstandards and training which the world assembly ofethics seem to advocate.

Ethics in our jobs

Our jobs today are hardly satisfactory. One reason forthis is the lack of ethical conduct at our job place by boththe employees and the employer. Some of the good

6

conducts like obeying the manager, being courteous toour clients or having respect for the employees havebeen neglected. This is due to lack of concern for thewellbeing of another. There is no love and trust betweenus and when there is none of these elements present, there is bound to be unethical behaviors. Theseunethical behaviors can be characterized by disorderlyconduct, rudeness, disdain, mistrust and hypocrisy. These are some of the ills that cause discomfort at workplace and a campaign for ethical principles can help torestore the comfortable climate that should characterizethe work place.

Ethics in leadership

Our leaders today whether at the helm of government, corporation or educational establishment have declinedto carryout ethics of leadership. One of the unethicalconducts that is actually characterize our leadership isthe tendency to be corrupt. Future leaders should have aforum that should teach them about good ethicalleadership characteristics. They have grown up seeinghow their elders, parents and guardians have exercisedunethical behaviors like being corrupt. Corruption is nowendemic and many people when elected to office cannotavoid the allure of extorting huge sums of moneydestined to build and promote progress for the greatergood of all. They siphon these huge amounts forpersonal uses like expensive vacations, trips and owningexpensive property that they would otherwise not ableto pay for. This is due to lack of honesty, virtue, truth, feelings and concern for the wellbeing of those undertheir care. In order to restore transparency, truth andhonesty that should be the bane of leadership, there isthe need for a forum that should discuss these issueswith future young leaders.

Ethics in media (journalism, radio and TV)

We all know that most people get their messages fromthe new media gadgets that have become global. Thetruth is that journalism is supposed to ethical. Anythingthat is passed on to the people in the form of news andinformation is supposed to checked and cross-check forauthenticity. This is what ethics is all about. Since wehave future young journalists in colleges today, there isneed for a movement that brings back ethics injournalism. These ethics includes, impartiality inreporting, balance research, credibility and truth. Whena story is told from an honest and transparent point ofview, there is little room for people to suspect any formof manipulation. But today out television news programsare filled with people eager to advance personal egosand agenda than passing on credible information to thecurious public.

Ethics in medical practices

Ethics is very important in the medical field. It isimportant because it is directly linked to the survival ordeath of the human being. This is where upholding thebasic cannons of truth, honesty and love are supposed tobe exemplified. But what we have now is a place bent onmaking the bottom line. Profit making has become themainstay of the medical profession. This is happeningbecause those who are in the medical profession arethemselves not imbued with ethical principle. They aremore concerned about paying their bills and making themost money than about the welfare of the people undertheir care. This is one of the more reasons why a seriousethical forum like the world assembly for ethics is neededto bring back faith and conscience awareness to themedical profession.

Ethics in education

The educational set up from the elementary to collegesand universities has known all sorts of unethical andimmoral behaviors by educators and students. Studentscheat in examinations. They forge diplomas in order toget a job after graduation. Teachers sexually moleststudents. They bribe their way through to promotions. These and many more ills have rocked our educationalinstitutions. For us to begin to reverse these ugly trendsthere is need for ethical standards that mankind canconform to. It is by conforming without being forced tothat can help restore peace, progress and civil rights inthe educational set up. The future of the kids is thatthere is need to restore trust and loyalty to their mindbefore one can hope that the future generation will nothold us accountable for all their misdeeds. The worldassembly for ethics is the association and movement thatcan start to bring back hope, peace and love to theworld.

Ethics in law practices

The judiciary is a place invested with corrupt practicesand illegal practices that sometime gain credencebecause of the powerful lobby of one over the other. Many people can get their way through even when theyhave committed murder simply because they know howto manipulate the system. But they fail to understand isthat this is not the kind of future that we can bequeathto our children. Even if that is they way we grew up tosee the judiciary system, is it not our way to correct themso as to have peace of mind and sow seeds of progressfor future generation? This is where world assembly forethics has a powerful message. We have tons and tons ofkids all eager to become future lawyers but what theyhave in their mind, by and large is to make more money

rather than to change the system. This forum will helpthem to achieve both goals.

Ethics in local and national governments

The local government and national governments arethere for the political, economic, social and culturalprogress of the people. What happens in most cases isthat politicians elected by the people are filled with craftand demagogy. These are not helpful to the progress ofthe innocent citizens who are helpless in the face ofmultiple decisions that are being taken without theirinput. All these happen because ethics have beenpushed to the back bench for most people. The worldneeds to respond and that is basically what the worldassembly of ethics intend to do. Without us looking foravenues to bring back good deeds, truth, transparencyand genuine love with our actions to the people whoelected us then we are headed to doom.

Ethics in agriculture

Agriculture is the industry that cater to our bodily needs. This is the place where the greatest ethical standardneeds to be upheld. The hygienic conditions of thenatural produce needs to be upheld otherwiseconsumers we will all end in sickbeds. We have people inthe agricultural fields who for one reason or the othercare more for their personal business profits rather thanthinking about providing decent product with decentprices to the market. We also have people who cheattheir way through like evading taxes just to amass morewealth for themselves and leave the masses to suffer. This is one of the reasons why world assembly for ethicsis more important to bring the sense of oneness andcommunal conscience awareness to the people so thatfor once we can start to think less about ourselves andmore about the others.

Ethics in business

There are all kinds of business dealings both nationaland international that are supposed to be govern bytrade deals and tariffs. These trade protection deals areput in place by the governing parties of governments, states and local entities. There are meetings uponmeetings that are being held to uphold ethical standardsfor all and sundry. But these ethical rules meant to satisfyall the parties concerned are never followed by somebusiness entities resulting to malpractices andcorruption. It is the place of the world assembly of ethicsto discuss and organize workshops meant to instill theneed for upholding standards and norms in businesstransactions that give us hope for the future. These aresome of the issues we will accomplish to create a healthyatmosphere for business to blossom in the 21st century:

We have to find effective policies to:

counter corruption, reduce greed and self-centeredness,encourage honor and honesty, promote parental guidance to establish a sense of

values, reduce the barriers to the freedom of inquiry, encourage respect for legitimate authority, support the identification and success of the

influence of role models, implement cost-effective strategies for global

education for a more enlightened world, and find ways to make behavior match the values

people say they believe in.

. Ethics in Tourism

Tourism is booming and flourishing. But one thing thatneeds to be done about is that those entrusted inhandling national issues that warrants that our nationbe exposed and discovered by new comers need to carefor one thing: honesty and truth. The ethics of sayingthings in black and white gives confidence to visitors andprovide confidence. Confidence building also enhances anational character. In that respect, the national landmarkcenters for every nation needs to be carefully preservedbecause they are indeed, the national treasure.Scheming games and gimmicks do not have a place intourism because they can quickly be discovered andbrought to public attention thereby making a country apublic ridicule. That is why those charge with providinginformation.

Ethics in Engineering

In engineering we expected to have the greatest ethicalconduct because these are experts in charge of building, protecting and maintaining our infrastructures. Thesestructures include buildings, railways and bridges. Whenthe ethical standard of either putting the right materials, design and technology are absent, the consequencescan be devastating. That is why putting in the necessarytenets ethical rules are so important. It is also the issue ofmaking sure that those who are entrusted with the taskof awarding contracts to cater to people’s lives arethemselves honest, truthful, peaceful, humble andobedient. The world assembly of ethics is entrusted withexpert teachers in all these areas to address the concernsof engineers during their annual billion man march andalso during their workshops and seminars.

Ethics in Public Policy

Public policy doctrine and decisions affect everybody inthe government, corporation and private entities. That is

Page 12: The World Assembly of Ethics (Non Profit Organization) by Ali Zohery, Ph. D.

12

why care has to be taken when making decisions thataffect the lives of the public. These decisions should beguided by reason and ethics. Without adequate reasonand ethical concern for the public, disaster is bound tooccur. This disaster can be in the form of unmeritedsanctions, penalties and loss of valuable wealth andproperty by the public. So when legislations are beingenacted for the benefit of the public and the futurecitizens, ethics has to be abided by for the sake of publicdecency. These ethical conduct for public policy shouldbe carefully carried out so as not to plunge the publicinto utter confusion. This is where the world assembly ofethics come into full force. When people are constantlybeing told that they need to put their conscience firstand foremost before anything else, there will be roomfor positive decision making practices.

Ethics of Medical and Biomedical Research

Scientific research has to maintain the most ethicalstandard. The reason to have the best ethical standard isbecause the actions that are to be taken and the resultsthat are obtained affect the medical life of all mankind. Most of the decisions that has come about as a result ofmedical experiment from plants and animals to cure saya medical ailment in humans should be done throughthe best ethical principle. The world assembly of ethicsshould constitute a meaningful forum to bring peoplewho engage in such research practices to learn moreabout respecting the dictates of their consciences. Theoverall aim of truth, honesty and honor for theprofession should be the overall goal for bio-diversityresearchers.
