The group was formed when many of Australia’s largest independent workplace safety distributors identified that many non safety-product distributors began selling workplace safety products.

These non safety-product distributors may have extensive knowledge about hammer-drills, electrical conduit or paper clips but know little about workplace safety.

Do they have the knowledge to make the correct recommendations to protect employees in the workplace?

Safety HQ members are committed to workplace safety solutions through the ownership of their business. They learn, live and breathe workplace safety. It is their livelihood and they have some of the most experienced and trained staff in the workplace safety industry.

Safety HQ members will provide the correct recommendations to keep employees safe at work. And by forming this group, we want to promote and market that we are not simply about selling a safety product, it’s about adding value by using knowledge gained through our experience and on-going training. The result being in providing the correct solution and the correct product to meet our customers’ needs and ensure their workers’ safety.

The concept behind Safety HQ, the group, was put together by a well known industry specialist with plenty of experience in the safety industry, who in conjunction with a professional advertising agency which specialises in brand development strategies, developed the exciting ‘look’ of Safety HQ.

Today, Safety HQ is associated with and is working closely with other industry specialists who have experience in the development and management of ‘ buying groups’ which will allow it to provide its members with a range of benefits and features that will enhance their position in the market and their bottom line.

The logo has been designed to work in conjunction with the individual store or company names, to ensure the equity developed over the years is not lost.

This uniquely recognisable and highly prominent logo unites the dominant colours of orange and black. These colours combined with the diamond background, industrial safety striping graphics and bold typographical style create a strong and memorable brand icon with a personality that will appeal to all safety consumers including the important industrial sector.

By design its versatility will allow it to work strongly across many visual mediums including external building signage, internal promotional signage, marketing collateral, stationery, uniforms, vehicle signage and more.

MARKET SNAPSHOTThe industry displays a moderate level of concentration with the top three players operating in the industry accounting for almost 50% of industry revenue. Wesfarmers is easily the largest distributor of safety equipment in Australia, with about 35% of revenue. Wesfarmers operates four businesses in the industry, including Blackwoods, Bullivants, Total Fasteners and Protector Alsafe.

Competition within the Safety Equipment and Supplies Distributors industry is moderate. Due to the large number of small players in the industry, companies are forced to compete on the basis of product offerings. The size and concentration of the buying market relative to the number of distributors suggests that competition is also based on cost and the quality of products. In addition to offering a variety of products, industry operators must also ensure quality by sourcing their products from reputable suppliers and offer good pricing strategies.
