Rev. Jimmie Collins Makes his home near Hamilton, OH. He is a full-timemissionary/evangelist and does mission work primarily in India. He isPresident and Founder of Good Sheperd Holiness Minsitries.

In the first chapter of the Gospel of John, the apostle begins his writing not with a historical narrative but with a Thesis;a summing up if you please.

In John Ch. 1:1-18 he gives upthis Thesis, the sum total of theGospel of Jesus Christ. All thatfollows, Ch 1:1- 20:29, is intendedto prove the accuracy of thethings declared in the first 18verses.

Three essential declarations aremade concerning Jesus Christ inthe span of these 18 verses. Thefirst in verse 1, the second in verse14, and the third in verse 18. Invs. 1 you have a declared truth,

followed by statements of illumination in vs. 2-13 which ex-plain vs. 1. Then, in vs. 14, you have another declared truthwhich is also followed by statements of illumination, vs. 15-17,which explain vs. 14. Finally, in vs. 18 we have the final ofJohn’s declared truths.

I. Verse 1a. in the beginning was the Wordb. the Word was with Godc. the Word was God

The tense in every case is the imperfect tense. The imperfecttense suggest not something past, present, or future, but some-thing continuous. The word was suggest a continuous state:

• in the beginning was the Word - a continuous fact• the Word was with God - continuously• the Word was God - constantly

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and forever.Heb.13:8

II. Verse 14 And the Word was made flesh and dweltamongst us."Note that the noun is "Word" while two different verbs fol-low: was made and became.

The word was made refers not to the beginning of some-thing new but something which already existed taking on anew manifestation. The Word, Jesus, took on a new manifes-tation! But, there is another verb; dwelt. The word dwelt(Greek- skay-no-o) literally means to pitch a tent. Thesenew verbs no longer mark something continuity, but declaresthat something new has happened, something fresh. The Wordpitched a tent. How? The Word was made flesh, a new formof existence.

ARTICLES of FAITHThe object for which it is formed is: To preach the Gospel ofJesus Christ, and promote a better understanding among all breth-ren.

The Word of God alone shall be the Doctrine, Practice, and Discipline of this Board of Members: it being understoodthat we receive it as the inspired Word of God and the Divinerule of faith and conduct.

We believe in God the Father Almighty. Maker of heavenand earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, who wasconceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, sufferedunder Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried andarose on the third day according to the Scriptures, afterwardsascended into heaven where He is now seated at the right handof God the Father, from whence He is come again to judge thequick and dead.

We believe in Water Baptism and that it should beadministered to every believer according to the Scriptures givenby St. Matthew 3:17;28:19; St. Mark 16:15; Acts 8:36-38. Weteach that the Blood of Jesus Christ cleanseth from all sin, andsanctifies the believer, thus making him or her eligible to re-ceive the gift of the Holy Ghost which is given to them thatobey (Acts 5:32) and the evidence of such experience shall beaccording to Acts 2:4.

We believe in the resurrection of the dead and the Commu-nion of the saints, the Lords Supper and washing the saintsfeet. We believe that divine healing for our physical bodies wasincluded in His suffering as mentioned by the prophet Isaiah53:5. It is still available to all who meet conditions and accord-ing to His will (James 5:14).

We believe that all ministers should be of good report (1Timothy 3:7-12) including Pastors, Evangelists, Deacons andElders (Titus 1:5-7); and husbands of one wife.

We believe the Church of Jesus Christ to be a livingOrganism. The Body of Christ, and habitation of God throughthe Spirit (Ephesians 2:20-22), and that each true believer is amember of the Body (1 Corinthians 12:14; Acts 2:47).

We made it through 2004 by thegrace and mercy of the Lord. By

believing and living the Christian life, wehave before us the beginning of 2005. Welost some of our dear ones to death butwe must strive with joy in the 365 daysthat are before us.

We still have some whowon’t live for God andits because they will notthink. Blind men withseeing eyes are astrange lot to deal with.Mark Twain refused tobelieve in life in the nextworld. He made a lot ofpeople laugh, but wasnever happy himself. He had a beautiful wifeand money, but happi-ness evaded him.

His last days on thisearth were cursed with doubt and fear. His darling wife was gone, who camefrom a Christian home in her youth. Natu-rally, we hope she died in Christ. We aretold he ransacked every library andchecked out every book he could lay hismortal hands upon about immortality. Heread them. He was an avid and volumi-nous writer and reader. As he laid thelast book down, with utter dejection, hesaid, I cant believe it, I cant believeit. The hired nursemaid, who was nofool, immediately replied, You do believeit, Mr. Clemons, or you would not havechecked out all of these books.

Yet he died a fools death and now in hellhe lifts up his eyes and probably screams,I could not because I would not believeit. Perhaps, he then screams again, Ibelieve it now I believe it now, I believeit now!

And I might go further and tell you thatthe house nursemaid in heaven declareswith unspeakable joy, Im glad I be-lieved, Im glad I believed!

And as one song goesYou cant lose, you cant loseWith God on your sideYou will win, you will winIf you in His love abideHis door is always openSo just step insideYou cant lose, you cant loseWith God on your side

There it is, folks, its up to the individual. You could take the same rope that Judas

hanged himself with anduse it for a lifeline in thevast sea and that ropewould be as precious asRahabs scarlet cord onthe Jericho householdwall. My dear friends, theres more proof thatJesus Christs birth, life, acts, and death and res-urrection took place thanthere is that GeorgeWashington ever ex-isted. It is an undeniablefact with no fiction in it.

There are millions ofpeople who do not believe in Jesus andthe reason they do not is because theyhave been taught not to do it. It will costthem so highly. Especially the Jews andMoslems, who do not accept Christ, arein danger of hell fire. Some Jews knewthe Ten Commandments and they knewThou shalt not kill. Yet they killed Jesusand those that believed in him. Theywanted to kill Lazarus, who Jesus raisedfrom the dead. The Moslems declare thatthe Koran is sacred and it teaches againstmurder, yet they kill all the time becausethey are taught to.

Let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus, whobeing in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equalwith God. But made himself of no reputation, and took uponhim the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness ofmen. Phil. 2:5-7

Something unique in all of history took place. In a manger inBethlehem, the Word took on a new manifestation. The Wordbecame flesh and was born Emmanuel; God with us.Why didthe Word (Jesus) take on the form of a servant? Because:

III. vs. 18 No man has seen God at anytime

seen - means to discern, perceive, or understand No manhas truly understood God. So, because of this: Vs. 18 He (theWord) hath declared Him How could the Word (Jesus) knowthese things? Vs 18 the only begotten Son, which is in thebosom of the Father, he hath declared him

The phrase in the bosom is a tender expression; it expressesthe revelation of the heartbeat of God. Like the apostle Johnwho laid his head in the bosom of Jesus and knew the pulse ofthe saviour, Jesus knows the heartbeat of God. The Word be-came flesh to declare unto us the heart of the Father.

He, the Word, pitched his tent amongst us, so the things wecould not see, we began to see. And, the things we could notknow, we began to know; the things we never heard with clar-ity were now finding utterance. This is Christianity in a flash; itis the revelation of that which was undiscoverable. God cameinto human flesh to touch the face of man so that man couldtouch the face of God!

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begottenSon, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, buthave everlasting life. John 3:16

Picture yourself tied to a treecondemned of the sins of eternityThen picture a spear parting the airseeking your heart to end your despairSuddenly . . . a knight in armor of whitestands in the gap betwixt you and its flightAnd shedding his armor of God for youbears the lance that runs him throughHis heart has been pierced that yours may beatand the blood of his corpse washes your feetPicture yourself in raiment of whitecleansed by the blood of this lifeless knightNever to mourn the prince who was downedfor he is not lost it is you who are found (Johnny Hart)

Rev. Jimmie Collins

The Word was Made FleshFROM PAGE ONEWe are taught not to kill or murder: yet killing is at an all-time

high now. Some even murder for hire and what a horriblething this is. Americans are taught by T.V., movies, books, magazines, and even the press about killing. Sin has become adamnation in America. What we need is a nationwide revivalof repentance and salvation.

Under the threat of death, the Jews and Moslems will not letthe people read the New Testament, yet some Jews and Mos-lems are being saved now. In some areas of Mexico, free-dom is forbidden and yet our missionaries have penetratedthat field many years ago. There are lots of Mexican churchesin America now, and Mexico too.

There is much education in the U.S.A. today but many of theschools and colleges are leaving God out of their schools andmodern devils want it abolished altogether. This is a terriblemistake and has brought about a gradual change in our cul-ture. The change has been for the worst. Any culture thatleaves God out of their program is ignorance unparalleled. There are over 26 civilizations that fell because of this. TheWord of God tells us that the beginning of wisdom is the fearof the Lord. Let that be your first goal.

If I had to have a final and important word, it would to alwaysbe ready for the next world and for whatever terrible thingmight happen. The words of Jesus are being fulfilled on alarge and definite scale. Look at Luke 21:25-26. It is almostunbelievable. The recent tidal wave which swept ashore at500 miles per hour and shifting of the ocean certainly seemsto fulfill what the Bible tells us about signs in the sun, andmoon, stars and upon the earth distress of nations with per-plexity. The people who study such things are afraid more ofsuch calamity is coming. Mens hearts are failing them forfear while looking at the things which are happening on theearth.

People are taking out earthquake insurance in Missouri, Okla-homa, and other places. They did this a few years ago, and itis being repeated because they are warning them to be ready.

Lastly: I read of a young boy who was a Christian. I think itwas when the stars fell on Vicksburg (you can read about thisevent). People were shouting, praying and crying with theworst of fear. It is the end of the world, The parents yelledaloud to him, for he was asleep. Out of the bed he came! Heran out and said with loud joy, Thank God, I am ready!

Now dear readers, Are you? Think it over.

Thanks for your financial support and prayers. Let us hearfrom you if you haven’t written or called for a while.

918-249-19441 E-Mail: [email protected] A preacher related an incident to me

which took place in a revival he was

preaching. It is cute, but reveals a pain-

ful truth.

A young boy had been praying in the al-

tar services several night in a row. The

mother of the child asked him about his

experiences; curious to know what God

had been doing for him. She asked if he

felt like he had been saved. He said to

her, "Yes, I got saved last night." He then

asked his mother what the second expe-

rience was. She replied that the work of

s a n c t i f i c a t i o n t a k e s p l a c e a f t e r b e i n g

saved and then the Baptism of the Holy

Ghost.. He replied, "That second one is

what I got tonight and tomorrow night I

am going to get that third one and then

I'll be through!"

A great many Christian have the men-

tality that after they get that third experi-

ence they are through. The just fold their

hands and wait on heaven.

We could take a few lessons from the

world: The most successful businessmen

are those that weren't satisfied with only

one promotion. The greatest musicians

are those who never got "through" learn-

ing music. The greatest politicians aren't

t h o s e w h o w e r e t h r o u g h a f t e r g a i n i n g

seat on the city council. Likewise with

t h e C h r i s t i a n l i f e , w e c a n n e v e r b e

through with growing in Christ.

I advise all Christians Who "are through"

to read Phillipians 3:12-14:

"Not as though I had already at-

tained, either were already perfect: but I

follow after, if that I may apprehend that

for which also I am apprehended of Christ

J e s u s .

Brethren, I count not myself to

have apprehended: but this one thing I

do, forgetting those things which are be-

hind, and reaching forth unto those things

which are before,

I press toward the mark for the

prize of the high call-

ing of God in Christ

Jesus."

Paul had such insight

into himself, that he

w o u l d s a y " I c o u n t

n o t m y s e l f t o h a v e

a p p r e h e n d e d . " H e

admitted that he did

not fully possess all

t h a t C h r i s t h a d f o r

him and he had not fully attained all Christ

desired him to do. If we could just dis-

cover our true selves, we would humbly

admit that there is unfinished work in our

Christian experience.

Paul, also had vision beyond the inward.

He also had an upward vision. He men-

tions "reaching forth unto those things

which are before" and pressing "toward

the mark for the prize of high calling."

He not only saw himself but he saw what

he could possess and attain. This inward

and upward vision disturbed Paul's con-

t e n t m e n t w i t h t h i n g s a s t h e r e w e r e .

T h e r e f o r e h e w a s n o t a s t h e c h i l d d e -

scribed, "I am going to get that third one

and then I'll be through."

As we start the new year of 2005, young

people, let us pray that God will give us

an inward view of our deficiency and an

upward view of His sufficiency. Pray for

a vision of doing greater for God; a vi-

sion that will break the stranglehold of

our indifference.

Perhaps the bravest female of her race

noted for her courage in leading slaves

from the south through the "underground

railroad" to the northern states and free-

dom.

She escaped slavery herself in 1850 and

went to Canada. After her arrival there

she exclaimed exultingly, "I have only one

m o r e j o u r n e y t o m a k e - t h e j o u r n e y t o

heaven." But in that hour of great joy there

came a vision that called her back to dan-

ger and service. She saw her own new

found freedom and remembered the cru-

elty her own race lived under in the south.

She couldn't just sit

and rescued over 300 slaves. One day

while lying in a swamp with a band of

fugitives, a black man brought her the

news that $40,000 had been offered by

the slave dealers of Virginia, for her cap-

ture. Hard pressed by her pursuers, she

sent her fugitives on by a secret route

and went herself to the train. But when

she saw in the train-car, advertisements

for her arrest, she left the Northern train

and took the next one going south, think-

ing by her fearlessness to escape detec-

tion, and also to collect a new band of

fugitives. With such courage, no wonder

of the black race.

As with Harriet, we are not here just to

wait on our going to heaven. Let us have

a vision of a revived church, a better choir,

a better youth group and a vision of the

lost being saved in our communities. May

that vision compel us to renew our devo-

WE ARE NOT THROUGH.

A Tribute to Bro. Glen Rice

On Nov. 9, 2004, Rev. Glenn Ricetraded his worn out earthly house fora brand new heavenly bodyblessed are the dead which die inthe Lord from henceforth: Yea, saiththe spirit, that they may rest fromtheir labors, and their works do fol-low them. (Rev. 14:13)

The writer of the book of Hebrewsspoke of those of whom the worldwas not worthy. In my humble opin-ion, Bro Rice ranked very high in thatcategory. He was married to Sis.Ruby in April of 1936 and later thatyear they founded the holinesschurch in Stroud, Oklahoma. Theirlives were devoted to the ministry. He spent most of his life pastoringin Oklahoma, with the exception of10 years pastoring in Thayer, Mis-souri.

Bro. Rice wrote at least 24 songs in his lifetime. However, in1954, God gave him the words and music to The Hem of HisGarment. That one song has been as far-reaching as anysong Ive known. I can remember as a boy, Bro. Claude Ely,my pastor, singing it often in our church just prior to praying forthe sick. Only Heaven knows how many people have beenhealed or saved because this song sparked faith in their hearts.Theres no way of knowing the lives that have been blessedand helped and whose faith has reached new heights whilesinging or listening to this song.

Bro. and Sis. Rice practiced reading their Bibles through ev-ery year. They would take turns reading aloud and a few yearsago when he was so weak he couldnt read, she would read itto him. At his passing, they had read it through over 50 times!

Bro. Rice Pastored until he was 88 years old. He and Sis.Ruby conducted three nursing home services a week. Theycontinued to do this even after he had quit pastoring. Herewere two godly saints that were willing to spend and be spentfor the gospel. Sis. Rice said two of the greatest joys in theirlives were when they went to the Holy Land in Israel andwhen God laid it on a mans heart to build a new church atStroud. What a blessing that was!

The Holiness people have been richly blessed to have Bro.and Sis. Rice in our fellowship.. Almost two years ago, Bro.Rice was put in the nursing home in Stroud because he needed24 hour care. Less than a year ago, Sis. Rice moved in also tobe with him. He was so much happier with her near. She told

me, I vowed to stay with him tilldeath do us part and while he washere and I was home, we were nottogether and if hes better with mehere thats all I care about. Thelast few months, Sis. Rice slept witha flashlight in her hand and whenshe would wake up in the night, shewould check to see if he was cov-ered or needed care.

C. H. Spurgeon said, "some diewithout having really lived, whileothers continue to live in spite of thefact that they have died." Bro. Ricewill continue to live in our hearts andin our services, especially when wesing The Hem of His Garment.Hes crossed the finish line Hehas died the death of the righteousand may our last end be like his.Spurgeon said, Death cures; it isthe best medicine, for they who die

in Christ are not only almost well, butalso healed forever.

A man that hath friendsmust shew himself

friendly: (Proverbs 18:24)

To me, that was true of KeithVaughn. Our monthly phone billwas a testimony of this fact. Itwas also the object of manyfriendly discussions in our home.It was an honor to be married tothis man that was held in such highesteem by so many. I received aphone call from a preacher afterKeiths death and he said he didntknow of a soul who didnt likeBro. Keith Vaughn. I laughed andsaid I was sure Keith could namea few.

He was a man who cared for oth-ers, and never thought he wasbetter than someone else. He livedfor his ministry. It was amazingto watch God use him. But it wasalso amazing to see how willinghe was to be used by God.

Keith was a man who believed in Holiness. Henever doubted that the Holiness way was thetrue way. I watched the way he hurt whenfriends and family chose another way of life, but he never wa-vered from the beliefs and standards he started this way with.Keith was not one to be up and down. He was consistent in hiswalk with God. No one but God influenced Keith in his ministry.Even though his ministry was a vital part of his life, we werenever pushed aside. Our family was important to Keith.

He loved each of us with all his being and was never afraid toshow that love. I guess that is what has made learning to livewithout him so difficult at times.

You see he was not only a friend to others, but he was my verybest friend and only by that grace that is sufficient in our time ofneed, have I been able to cope with each day. The love of familyand friends has been so wonderful, but my children have beensuch a great inspiration during this time. Their strength and dedi-cation to God have shown me the great influence Keith has hadin their lives. I dont think he realized the impact he really had onthem. There is no bitterness in their hearts over the situationthey have had to accept as life. God has shown them that He isthat refuge in he storm, and He is the one to lean on.

Keith was only in my life as myhusband for 17 years, but he willnever be forgotten.

We would also like to thank ev-eryone for your love and supportover the past months. Yourprayers, cards, letters, flowers, and many words of comfort havebeen appreciated so much. MayGod bless each one for your giv-ing.

Bishop Wipple, of Minnesota, told of a war dance that the Dakota Indians once held nearthe mission house. He went to Wabasha, the chief and said, "wabasha, you asked me for

a missionary and a teacher. I gave them to you, and the first sight is this brutal scalp dance."I knew the young Chippewa whom your young men have murdered; his wife is

crying for her husband, his children asking for their father. Wabasha, the Great Spirit hears -he is angry- some day he will ask Wabasha, ’Where is your red brother?’"

The old chief smiled, and said: "White man go to war with his own brother in thesame country -kill more men that Wabasha can count in all his life -Great Spirit smiled andsays ’Good white man! He has my book, I love him. I have a good place for him by and by.’

The Indian is a wild man -he has no Great Spirit book. He kills one man amd has ascalp dance. Great Spirit is mad and says, ’Bad Indian! I put him in a bad place by and by.’

"Wabasha don’t believe."If we murder a brother by gossip and slander, can we rightly expect the world to

believe our message of love?

B ro. Rick Simpson and family are not strangers to theholiness churches and his family have been a blessing to many. Bro. Rick has

previously been a pastor and now travels as a full-time evangelist. This CDcaptures the talent of this family, namely the two daughters, Sabrina and Hope.Other godly musicians and vocals accompany this family in their debut work.Bro. Rick and family attend the Bond Holiness Church, Bond, KY.

Pastor John Gabbard and Bro. Shad McDonald give their recommendation for thisfamily.

"It is my joy and privilege to recommend this wonderful recording. All who havebeen blessed to be in service with Simpson family are aware of what an inspiration

they are in message and music.Your heart will be touched andspirit uplifted as you join Sabrinaand Hope, in song as they wor-ship in music as ’Sisters Forever.’"

Rev. Shad McDonald

"I would like to take this time toendorse the debut CD from theSimpson Family. Bro. Rick is afull-time evangelist from ourchurch and we at the Bond Holi-ness Church feel that any invest-ment made to the Simpson Fam-ily would be a well placed invest-ment in the Kingdom of God.

Thank you in advance for your support."

February 24, 25, 26,9:30 a.m. - Morning Services7:30 p.m. - Evening Services

There is much varied thought concerning the second coming ofJesus Christ and sadly the doctrine has become divisive andcontroversial. Consequently, the very important doctrine has notbeen taught and preached as it should be. The nature of thisconference is not to debate the doctrine but to emphasize theimportance of these last days. While even the speakers maydiffer in belief in some details, the unified message will be thesoon return of Christ and how the events of these last dayscorrelate with Bible prophecy.
