DIRECTOR ’S NOTE

Welcome to Dominican!

Yes, I get asked every year. “How are you going to top that show?” Whether it be Hairspray, or Les Mis, Cats or Ragtime, Children of Eden or Godspell or Aida. I get asked every year, and it’s quite a daunting question. We have such amazing students and then some graduate and we prepare the next group. After Hairspray last year, I didn’t know how, I just knew we would.

And so, welcome back to the 80’s. We just love this show and we hope you do too. It’s just so much fun, our students have embraced it, and it’s a great showcase for the talent that we have. It’s funny, energetic, sweet and charming as well. And it totally, like, totally rocks!

My thanks are to my production staff – well done. My thanks are to the families of these great students – thank you for your support of what they do, your time, pa-tience, driving, meals, and being here tonight. It means a lot to them. My thanks are to my family – thank you for being patient and allowing us to shine. My very special thanks are to our students. Quite frankly, you’re awesome. And from a guy who grew up in the 80’s – you know that means you’re totally awesome. You’ve embrace this fun show and allowed an 80’s preppie to take you back and teach you a little something. You’ve energized our rehearsal hall and made us love this show more and more every day because YOU are in it.

To my seniors – thank you for dedication and throwing yourself into everything we do. To name a couple – Ann, I’m so very proud of you. You’ve earned this. Enjoy it. Mary – what a talent you’ve always been. We’ve always noticed and to have you shine this year doesn’t surprise me at all. Thomas – Wow. You’ve made a home here, made it better, and we are so grateful for everything you’ve done. Simon – we trust you with so much and you come through every time. Thanks. Michael – you are a wonder. To listen to you sing and to work with you is such a creative and profes-sional joy. It’s been nice for all of us to be in the same room with you and watch you grow and shine. And Miss Madeline – from the day you walked in here you were front and center. Always. Where you belong. You’ve made everyone better, you’ve raised the level of everything you touch, and we noticed. Enjoy your time on our stage. We will and always have enjoyed watching you.

OK, enough lame talk. Like, totally get psyched, don’t be a dweeb, and get ready to rock! Have an awesome time!
