Executive Summary:
Rose Johnson and Dylan Lane crossed paths in the spring of 2010 in a
small coffee shop amongst the aroma of Columbian coffee beans, steamed
vanilla milk, and caramel lattes. In that moment their love was born. Rose
Johnson and Dylan Lane became Mrs. And Mr. Dylan Lane on January 1, 2014.
They held the ceremony at Salamander Resort and Spa in Middleburg, VA. They
chose this location because it included all the rentals, it was a nice change of
scenery for their parents and grandparents, and most of all it was Rose’s dream
location. The reception was held in the same Grand Ballroom as the ceremony.
The space opens up into a bigger space leaving their guests to feel comfortable
and cozy.
Their final budget of the wedding was $35, 999.54. The budget was perfect for
the couple because it gave them the ability to treat their friends and family with
nice gifts. The couple was able to treat their bridal party with transportation
from the airport, lodging for one night, a salon trip and thank you gifts.
The best vendor was the reception site, the Salamander Resort and Spa, and
their staff department. They provided chairs, glassware, tables, linen, china,
and more to the couple in an affordable packaged price. The customized
wedding cake was also made by their shop Market Salamander. The venue
offered complimentary valet and bridal suits the day of.
What made this wedding so unique was that the bride and groom were so
different yet so much alike. They both wanted to participate in the planning,
even when they didn’t have the time to. Most men are not that active in the
planning role, however, Dylan required to approve everything. Their unique
situations of different religious backgrounds, scandal and upbringing initially
posed a problem. However with the help of Unique PR Agency, the couple was
able to overcome them and create “A Love to Remember”.

Family Details:
Dylan was born in Boston, MA and grew up there with his father. He was raised in a home with his father and grandmother. His father and Grammie worked their hardest to provide Dylan with plenty of opportunity and experiences to make him well rounded and cultured. At the age of 16 yrs old, Dylan had already visited 3 different countries and 9 states. Being an only child, Dylan always had a lot of close friends and was very popular. He enjoyed playing basketball with the older kids and helping out kids that were younger than him. Everyday his father would take him to the courts for 1 hour, teaching him new skills to impress his friends. Grammie always made sure that Dylan kept up with his academics. She taught him to use his creative side by playing piano, writing, and photographing pictures. She would often enter his works in to local contests and competitions, where he would often win. In hopes of one
8
day working for his Thomas Lane Law Firm, his father’s business, Dylan decided to attend American University to pursue a Business Law Degree.
9
A Love Story: It was fall 2009 when Dylan graduated early from American University. His
plan had always been to attend American University Washington College of Law
directly after college. Graduating with a 4.0 he was able to fulfill his dream. He
was immediately accepted into the Law program and nominated for an
internship at a top executive firm in Washington D.C. “I was so honored to
have been chosen to be a part of such a pristine firm. Next to working with my
father’s firm, it was always my dream to learn from some of the greatest
lawyers in the country,” says Dylan. This firm would give Dylan the chance he
had always dreamed of.
It was a beautiful and warm spring morning when Dylan first saw her on the
way to his internship. Dylan loved to be extremely punctual and would always
leave ahead of schedule. There was this quaint little coffee shop 2 blocks from
his internship that he decided to grab breakfast at. “This morning was
different, I could feel it. I woke up feeling extremely nervous, which is
uncommon for me. Upon arrival to my internship I looked down at my watch
and noticed I was 45 minutes early! I was too nervous to sit and wait so I
decided to take a walk around the building. I stumbled upon a coffee shop with
a unique décor that reminded me of my Grammie’s house. I ordered a mocha
latte with extra whip cream on top and chocolate biscotti. I specifically
remember this because once I had turned around 10 seconds later a girl
bumped into me and spilled both my biscotti and coffee all over me. Burnt and
furious I stared down at my completely ruined and stained first-day-of-
internship expensive custom tailored suit and almost died. I started to let out
every negative emotion in my body until I raised my eyes and saw the most
beautifully brilliant human being that I had ever laid eyes on. For the first time
that day I smiled. I just smiled speechlessly as I was drowned in apologies. She
franticly patted my shirt and spilled out ‘I’m sorry’s’. Once I came to, I gently
grabbed her hand away from my shirt and looked her in the eyes. Standing
there, we stared for seconds that felt like hours that turned in to a minute, and
there I fell in love,” states Dylan.
As for Rose, she remembers the story a different way. She remembers a
beautiful warm spring morning sun arising through her window blinds as she is
still studying. She hadn’t slept at all during the night due to research for a big
project for her internship. Rose had been in American University Washington
Law School for a year. “Once I found out that I had been accepted into the
10
program, all words left my mouth and joy took over my face! I couldn’t wait to
call my grandparents and tell them,” Rose said. On this day Rose was
extremely tired and exhausted from a long night’s work. She was scrambling to
make herself presentable to the world and to her internship on time. While
running to her internship she decided that she would be worthless if she didn’t
get a cup of coffee first. “I knew I was going to be late, but if I didn’t stop and
get a cup of Joe I would have crashed as soon as I made it to work. The line
was so long and it seemed like everyone wanted to customize their orders
today. This guy in an obnoxious suit in front of me kept jittering his hands and
looking around. I only noticed it because every time he kept looking around
and glancing at his wrist he would make us fall behind in line. He finally gets
to the front of the line and goes back and forth between drinks and extra
whipped cream. While he grabbed his cup with one of those jittery hands I
walked forward to the line searching for the money in my purse to make this go
by as fast as possible. Next thing I knew his coffee was all over his suit. I
reached for napkins and tried to wipe the coffee off. With my head still down,
he grabbed my hand and caught me off guard. I looked up defensively and eye
contact with the most beautiful soul that eyes could see. I knew it, that in that
moment I had to know him,” Rose says with starry eyes.
From then on, Dylan and Rose “just happened” to bump into each other happily
ever after each morning at that quaint little coffee shop.
11
Engaged to love: For Dylan and Rose the path to engagement almost seemed perfect.
“Spontaneous” meetings at the coffee shop turned into scheduled breakfast
meetings, which turned into lunch dates during work, which turned into after
work drinks, which developed into real actual dates.
On a cool fall morning in August 2012, Dylan and Rose made plans to meet at
the coffee shop before work. They would usually meet outside then order
together, but this day Rose did not see Dylan. This was so unlike Dylan, he was
always punctual too punctual in fact. There had to be something extremely
wrong for him to not be here. She stood outside for 10 minutes, but went
inside when she started to get cold. She had texted and called Dylan, but he
wasn’t answering. She also tried his internship, his best friend, and his
grandmother.
She started to get worried and dialed his number one more time before
deciding to leave. She finally gave up and turned to leave when Dylan walked
into the coffee shop in a nice new suit and brand new shoes. Rose stood there
confused, relieved, mad, and happy. Dylan calmly walked over to her as though
nothing was wrong, “you want the usual,” he asked Rose. She nodded in
disbelief. He smoothly walked up to the line ordered some food and bought it
to a table. He waves to her to come over.
At this point Rose is completely lost and doesn’t know where her boyfriend is.
This nonchalant laid back guy was not the man she fell in love with, however,
she mindlessly walked over to the table and sits down. She looks down and
finally snaps to, “this is not my usual order, and who do you think you are, and
where have you been and”. She’s so tired and hungry that she picks up the
muffin and bites into it. “Ouccchhhh,” she yells. She picks open the muffin to
find a single diamond ring.
Dylan takes the ring from her and slides out of his chair onto one knee. Rose is
too flabbergasted for words. “Will you marry me,” he askes.
With big eyes and a face filled with various expressions she says, “yes” and not
a word more. This was the end of the beginning of A Love to Remember.
12
Unique Situations: Rose and Dylan have different religious backgrounds. Rose’s family is
very religious and practices their Christian faith daily. They have certain
rituals that they feel is a “must” to incorporate in the wedding. All of
their relatives will be expecting to attend a more conservative and
traditional wedding. Dylan’s family is completely atheist. Dylan’s family
is very liberal and they drink and gamble together. His relatives will
expect there to be a lot of alcohol being passed around and card tables
present at the reception. Dylan knows that his family might get rowdy
with the increase of alcohol and Rose knows that her family may be
offended if their rituals are not fully incorporated, therefore, Dylan and
Rose will compromise to satisfy both desires.
Rose’s mother is very concerned with Rose and Dylan’s age difference.
Dylan is 3 years younger than Rose and he has just recently graduated
college. Rose and Dylan have only been dating for 1.5 years and now
they are engaged and planning a wedding. She is worried that they are
not making the right decision getting married so young. Dylan has been
confronted by Rose’s mother several times and he continues to reassure
her that he is absolutely in love with their daughter and he will cherish
her and her values. Rose and Dylan both say that this will not affect their
decision to get married.
Rose comes from a two parent home and grew up surrounded by close
relatives. She is used to compromising with people and working for
everything that she gets. Rose has also only experienced life amongst her
own family which doesn’t include much variety. Dylan was raised with
one parent and his grandmother. His family was very privileged and he
was able to travel the world and develop a dynamic life at a young age.
He is also used to meeting a lot of new people and being able to have
what he wants when he wants. When making decisions about the
wedding he may be very particular about some of the details of the
wedding. Since Rose is used to compromising with people, they should
be able to work all the details out prior to the wedding.
13
Dylan’s step-mother, Synthia, is 27 years old and the same age as Rose.
He grew up without a mother his whole life then his father just recently
got married to a woman only 3 years older than him. This situation is
still new to Dylan and his grandmother. This may cause some tension at
the wedding since the father and his wife are traditionally placed in the
front seat of the wedding. Rose does not want her fiancé to be worried
about anything during the wedding. She plans on hosting a dinner party
with Synthia, Dylan’s father, and grandmother prior to the wedding
planning. She will do this in hopes of helping them to create a
relationship with each other to eliminate any perceived tension.
14
Theme and Vision: Rose and Dylan would like to have a romantic wedding that celebrates their
evident love and passion for one another. Their theme “A Love to Remember”
is inspired from their favorite novel, “A Walk to Remember”, by Nicholas Sparks
and their favorite season of the year, winter. Every night before bed Rose and
Dylan read a couple pages of this to one another via Skype. Dylan’s favorite
part is when Jamie tells Landon that she believes that God sent him to her and
that he’s her angel. Rose’s favorite quote from the movie is, “If I’ve kept you
too close, it’s because I want to keep you longer”. Dylan told Rose this same
quote on their first official date and every since then Rose has called him her
angel.
They plan on using shades of burgundy, purple, and black to highlight the
theme of the wedding. Both Rose and Dylan has always liked the color purple
and love that the color represents magic and “to remove obstacles”. To Rose
and Dylan, this color is the symbolizes their romance, new beginning, and
angelic grace.
In order to make “A Love to Remember” a romantic experience for everyone,
several of the elements below will be incorporated:
All stationary will include a logo that incorporates the color scheme and a
customized symbol that represents Rose and Dylan.
Purple hydrangea will be the primary flower highlighted in the wedding.
They will be used as the center pieces on the tables at the reception.
There will be small white lights draped throughout the wedding and
reception to mimic snow.
Candles will be use as the main source of light in the wedding and
reception to create a soft and romantic atmosphere
15
There will be fragrance of lavender and vanilla adorning the reception
room
The wedding cake will have the same flowers that are in the brides’
bouquet on the cake
The groom and groomsmen will wear black suits with black shirts and
stripped ties that incorporate shades of purple from the wedding
The brides dresses will be different styles in order to reflect their
romantic personalities but they will be in the shades of purple that are
reflective of the groomsmen’s ties
The jumping broom will be tied with black ribbon and dried purple and
white flowers that are scented with lavender and vanilla
Hot cocoa, warm teas, and flavored ciders will be served at the reception
to give gets a physically warm feeling
16
Number of Guests: Rose and Dylan desire to share their most intimate moment with only the
people the closest and most important to them. They will be inviting 75 of
their family and friends to enjoy their special day. The couple has chosen to
split the amount of guests 36 to 37 with Rose getting the extra person. The
amount of people is very strict, but the couple has left room for 10 extra
guests. They understand that their guests have families and they are hoping
that everyone understands that there is a limit and no guests allowed.
The couple both agreed that a small wedding would be perfect for them. Their
ceremony and reception will both be taking place at the same location;
therefore they will fit comfortably in their venue. The hotel has extended
complimentary valet for all the guests who choose to drive to the location. The
hotel also offers transportation services that are available to the guests.
Seventy-five guests is perfect for their theme and vision for their wedding
because it keeps things intimate and it helps create an atmosphere of
connectedness and spirituality. The romantic touches throughout the wedding
are sure to grab the attention of couples and family members to remind them
why they care for one another. The couple would like to leave an unforgettable
memory with their guests. Having a smaller wedding, allows for them to spend
time with each guest.
The budget of $34,000 that the couple has to work with is enough for them to
have a comfortable wedding for 75 guests. Since they are having a small
wedding, they a little extra money to splurge on nice gifts for their bridal party
and to treat them to a nights stay at the resort. Both Rose and Dylan wanted to
provide transportation for their family. They were able to pay for the plane
tickets for their grandparent and provide gas money for their parents. Dylan’s
dad decided to pay for a plane ticket for him and his wife (in an effort not to
make things complicated for Dylan). It also allowed the couple to afford to stay
at the resort for 3 nights. Rose’s family doesn’t drink they were able to
unexpectedly save money on alcohol.

Summary Budget
18
Budge Analysis: The couple has been given a budget of $34,000. Rose and Dylan will be paying
for their wedding alone. Both of the families offered to help, but the couple felt
that the families would try to take too much control of the wedding so they
opted not to accept assistance. Rose and Dylan have always been good with
money and have been separately saving up for their future wedding. Rose
began saving for her wedding at age 18 after getting so close to her
grandparents and wanting a relationship just as perfect as there’s. She will be
contributing $19,000 of the money. Dylan has always been given an allowance
by his father and has kept a portion of it in a separate bank account since his
father taught him how to budget at age 16. Dylan will be contributing $15,000
to the wedding.
The biggest expense of the budget will be spent on transportation and lodging.
Family is extremely important to both Rose and Dylan. Neither the bride nor
the groom will compromise on flying family and relatives in to be in attendance
to their wedding. The couple is very hospitable and caring and will spare no
expense in making sure their family is comfortable and well taken care of.
This budget will allow the couple to create the romantic winter wonderland that
they hoped for. It will be used to purchase and customize their desired
decorations such as flowers, lighting, music, and stationary. The experience
and ambiance is very important to the couple and each and every detail must
reflect the theme and be reflective of their love for one another.
Both Rose and Dylan’s families were heavily influenced by their cultural
backgrounds. This makes food a very important aspect of the reception, which
will be one of their major expenses. There will need to be traditional
Trinidadian dishes, Native American dishes, and American dishes present.
The $34,000 budget is strict and all costs must adhere to it when planning the
wedding. The couple has given their consultant priorities for the budget. Their
wish is that the budget is first spent on transportation, lodging, and food.
Based on the preparations made and recorded detailed budge, the wedding
consultant was not able to keep the wedding under $34,000. Originally the
final budget was at $28,975.54, saving the couple $5,024.46. The couple then
added transportation costs and lodging as a treat for their guests which put
them over budget. After adjusting some numbers on the Wedding Attire and
19
Wedding Day Preparation, the couple came to a number that they felt
comfortable with. The final bill, the, is $35, 999.54, putting the couple
$1999.54 over budget.

Timeline Summary: The couple contacted Unique PR Agency 6 months after their engagement.
Rose and Dylan were well aware of some of the potential problems that their
engagement may face and kept the engagement as a secret. During the first 6
months of their engagement, the couple was able to fall even more deeply in
love with one another and grew to be completely secure in their decision.
Dylan asked for Rose’s hand in marriage on August 1, 2012 between 6:00 am
and 7:15 am. Their prospective wedding date is January 1, 2014 at 2:00 pm,
which allows for 17 months of planning. This gives the consultant some time
to suggest to the couple advice on how to relieve some family tension, religious
barriers, and cultural differences. Seventeen months will also give the couples time to secure a venue. Having
“Winter Wonderland” themes are very popular for weddings. Most venues are
always in high demand and in the case of Salamander Spa it will have just made
its debut. They already have a waiting list for events, meetings, organizations,
and sessions that are lining up to book an appointment. This will also give the
chef’s time to gather the menu and ingredients for their culturally diverse
wedding.
Rose and Dylan are very specific on their idea and desires for the wedding. The
consultant will have time to choose the details that would be perfect for the
couple. Rose has been dreaming about her wedding since she was 18 years old
and she and Dylan both share the same tastes when it comes to planning it.
One of the reasons the couple gave themselves 17 months is because they
wanted to use their own money. The couple didn’t want to use any money from
their family so that no one had any reason the control their wedding. Dylan’s
father is very successful, but he would always try to map out Dylan’s future
because he financed it. Rose wanted to respect Dylan’s request to pay for the
wedding by themselves without outside resources. They both agreed to save up
money in order to fund the wedding.
Another reason the couple decided to have a long engagement was so that Rose
could have her dream location. Rose has been planning for her wedding since
she was young and she already had it all pictured in her head. She knew she
wanted a small destination wedding at a resort. Most venues that fit her
description and requirements are always booked months, sometimes a year, in
35
advance. Rose first looked into Salamander Resorts shortly after Dylan
proposed, however the resort was not available due to renovations. Eight
months into their engagement the resort became available so Dylan graciously
offered to push the date of the wedding back.
For Rose and Dylan the coordination and unique situations in the design phase
were the most challenging for the couple. Unlike most couples, the design
phase was the easiest for the couple. The consultant originally thought that
this would be the most difficult phase because most couples disagree or the
man usually does not want to participate leaving the wife emotional. Rose had
most of the design phase planned out and Dylan happily agreed with her
decisions. To the consultant, it was evident that the couple had good
communication skills. Coordinating the wedding was where it became more
difficult. Both Rose and Dylan worked full time and it became difficult to
schedule meetings to plan the invitations, the save the date notices, and
wedding attire details . The consultant could see that Dylan was very decisive
and wanted to have a voice in the preparations and Rose, who was more soft
spoken, had a vision that she did not want to compromise (too much) on. This
affected the planning process a bit, but the couple and the consultant were able
to find a few days to plan and purchase the necessary items.
During the design phase the couple faced unique situations that they didn’t
expect. The couple was not aware of their unique situations until they met with
the consultant. The consultant helped them identify a need for some
precautions to be established. She also suggested various options for the
couple to combat their unique situations. These situations did not slow the
process of the wedding down, but they did create additions to the planning
process. Rose and Dylan scheduled a dinner for Dylan’s parents and
grandmother. The couple was also advised by the consultant to serve only
Trinidadian food and the amount of alcohol to purchase, in an effort to help
them use their money as effectively as possible. When expressing their desires
for the wedding, the couple stressed the importance of being able to provide
transportation for their family. The consultant was able to help them design a
budget that would allow for this to happen.
During the end of the planning process the couple realized that they were
under budget and could afford to provide lodging for their bridal party. This
made the couple extremely happy. These challenges were easily overcome with
planning and communication and now the bride and groom may begin their
love story.

Specific Elements: Final Wedding Site: To help create “A Love to Remember” for all attendees of the wedding and the

According to the website, Salamander Spa was designed to blend into its
natural environment and replicate the architectural traditions of
Virginia’s countryside. This is reflected throughout the interior décor of
the venue. The inside of the Spa reflects its’ surrounding beauty inspires
tranquility and peace. This retreat-like venue resonates romance, magic,
and love which is all incorporated in “A Love to Remember”.
This venue will be able to serve purposes for the wedding ceremony,
reception, and lodging. This all-in-one venue will aid in cutting costs for
the wedding. No transportation will be needed to, from, or in-between
locations. Salamander Spa is also conveniently located 30 miles from
Dulles Airport. Family will be able to fly in and be cost efficiently
transported to the location.
They also have free range of Middleburg, if they choose to stay off

Stationary: Paper Trousseau offers a selection of stationary that is touched with a “vintage
flair”. Rose originally wanted to hand write both her invitations and her thank

you notes, but after stumbling upon Paper Trousseau’s website she changed her
mind. After facing a small challenge during the coordination phase the
consultant advised Rose to “keep her options open” and consider outsourcing
for all stationary. The company offered save-the-dates, invitations, wedding
programs, menu cards, thank you notes and customized wedding napkins.
Rose decided to purchase the invitations, but she insisted on handwriting the
thank you notes claiming, “my grandmother would expect nothing less”.
Invitations, program, menu:
The collection includes square invitations & envelope, reply cards & envelopes,
reception cards, wedding programs, table place cards, menus, personalized

Wedding Attire:

Rose has always wanted to wear her mother’s gown when she got married. The
dress had to be altered to fit her perfectly, but now it fits as though it was
made for her. The gown was taken in and hemmed by Anytime Alterations
located in Maryland. Maria Luz, the owner, provides a friendly and comfortable
atmosphere for all of her customers. She has been Rose’s tailor for 1 year and
Rose trusted her to handle her most precious and valued item.
Rose also chose to kept her veil selection in the family. She will wear the veil
that her grandmother wore in her wedding. Rose hopes this will be a blessing
on her future and marriage to Dylan. Rose’s grandmother gave Rose her veil
when she was 8 years old and Rose has dreamt of wearing it ever since.

47
Rose plans to wear Charmeuse Peep Toe Shootie’s with Flower style by
CHARLIZE. She feels that the elegant vintage style of the shoe and the silky
charmeuse material embodies “A Love to Remember”. Her shoes will be
accompanied by a satin clutch with a large scroll ornament by MALISE. Both
items are purchased from David’s Bridal. The simplicity of her dress will be
adorned by Emerald Estates Ornate Pendant Necklace and 40th Anniversary
Outrageous Faux Crystal Chandelier Pierced Earrings purchase from Carolee.

Although Dylan usually wears conservative suits
that are usually one uniformed color, he decided
toshow his love for Rose by stepping outside of
his comfort zone and matching the theme of the
wedding. The couple chose purple as the
primary color of their wedding because it
symbolizes royalty and rarity. Dylan
incorporated purple into his attire in hopes to
show Rose the she’s his Queen. The groom and
the groomsmen will wear the same attire.
The bride’s maids are free to
select any style dress that they
desire. Their only restriction is
to select a purple dress with
silver accessories.
48
Floral Décor:
The floral décor will all be provided by Affordable Arrangements, a friend of
the couples’ shop. Since the ceremony and reception will be held in the same
room, the floral decorations will already be prepared in section A and section B
will be adorned with the final flowers. The couple originally wanted to drench
the wedding in purple hydrangeas to embody the theme of their wedding;
however they decided to let their love speak louder than words. They focused
their floral décor on the bouquets, boutonnieres and centerpieces.
Ceremony Décor:
Affordable Arrangements Affordable Arrangements Inc., Leesburg, VA 703.771.7790
Bridal Bouquet: The bridal bouquet will be similar to the picture about, however some alterations must be made to keep flowers on theme and on budget. The couple wanted to have shades of purple hydrangeas throughout the wedding, but they won’t be in season. As a result, the petals are prone to fall off unless they are stored in a cool room at the venue. In order to avoid another challenge, the couple listened to the wedding consultant and together they decided to have hydrangeas as a part of the inspiration for the wedding and instead included a variety of seasonal and affordable purple flowers. The Bridal bouquet will have at least 3 hydrangeas in it.
Bridal Bouquet Bridesmaids Groom Boutonniere
49
Bridesmaids: The bridesmaid’s bouquets will not hydrangeas in it but it will look similar to the bridal bouquet. It will have less expensive flowers of purple and white
Groom&Groomsmen: The groom will have a hydrangea in his boutonniere and selected flowers from the bridal bouquet. The groomsmen will receive boutonniere with 3 flowers from the groom’s boutonniere. The color scheme will be the same.
The ceremony bow, ring bearer pillow and flower girl basket will all be white, periwinkle, purple and plum colored items.
Reception Décor:
Flower Girl Basket Ring Bearer Pillow Ceremony Bow
Reception Centerpieces Reception Centerpieces

The reception centerpieces will consist of a flower arrangement and candles. The centerpieces and candles will be short so that the guest can hold conversations. The will both be a part of the centerpieces and provided by Affordable Arrangements. For the centerpieces, purple, periwinkle, white and burgundy flowers will be placed in clear glass jars filled with water and colored glass. Rentals and Decorative Elements: One of the reasons why the Salamander Resort was chosen is because it provided all of the rentals a couple would need. They provided tables, chairs, lighting, linens, glassware, china, and flatware. With only 75 guests, the couple was able to get everything included and staff to help facilitate for a very affordable price.

Food and Beverage: Caterering:
Salamander Resorts does offer catering through branch of their business called Market Salamaner. Rose and Dylan really wanted to provide their families with Trinidadian food so they decided to hire Green Sage Catering. The catering will cost about $50 per plate plus groceries. The couple invited 75 guests, but planned for 90 plates. The extra food will allow them to offer food to the DJ, staff and hotel manager. The company offers canapés, platters, starter courses (soups, salads), main courses, extras and desserts.

Beverages:
The couple had expected to spend over $2,000 on alcohol, but when they realized that none of Rose’s family and most of her friends would not be

drinking, they were surprised at the amount. As a precaution they planned for one large bottle of wine for 75 people and a selected number of bottles of hard liquor. The balance between alcohol drinking guests and conservative guests was one of the couples’ unique situations. In order to combat that, the couple decided to regulate the amount of alcohol the liquor could and would serve.

Cake: The cake was not an important element of the wedding for the couple. It was the last element of the wedding mentioned during the meeting with their consultant. When looking for a cake vendor, the couple solely desired ease and convenience. Market Salamander is affiliate with the Salamander Resort which provides ease and convenience. The shop is located in Middleburg, VA and is a short distance from the resort. Market Salamander is $6.00 per slice so the couple planned for 80 slices of cake. The shop specializes in creating custom cakes and offering personalized services. They were very accepting of the theme and offered creative suggestions for wedding cake designs.

Transportation: Rose and Dylan will be purchasing airline tickets for both couples’ grandparents. Rose’s grandparents will departing from Tobago, Arthur N.R. Robinson International on Monday and arriving at Miami International. They will then depart from Miami International and arrive at Dulles International airport where they will be picked up by a car sent from the Salamander Resort. This round trip ticket will cost $2,865 for senior tickets in coach. Dylan’s grandmother will depart from Boston Logan, MA –BOS late early Tuesday morning and arrive at Washington (Dulles), DC-IAD. This round trip ticket will cost $652. Dylan’s grandfather will depart from Atlanta, GA-ATL early Tuesday morning and arrive at Washinton (Dulles), DC-IAD. This round trip ticket will cost $552. Since Rose’s father lives in Maryland, he will be driving to the resort with Rose and Dylan. They set aside $200 for gas. Rose’s mother desired to drive since the resort is not far from North Carolina and Rose set aside gas money for her as well. Dylan’s father decided to pay for his wife and his airline ticket as a gift to the couple.
Risk Management Plan: One major risk that every wedding is prone to is people getting too drunk. To reduce this risk the couple has restricted the amount of alcohol the bar can serve. Usually weddings have open bars and that’s when the problems arise. Since the wedding consultant has made the couple fully aware of their unique situations, the couple is cautious not to offend any one. The couple has also placed card table in a section area of the reception. Having creating a separtion between the gambling, drinking, table area and dance floor. If any one is getting offended then they have other locations that they can go to and still feel included in the party. If a family member gets too out of control with drinking and/or gambling and someone gets offended, the staff is to quietly remove them to one of the rooms provided.
Another risk to this wedding is that miscommunication occurs leaving staff, bridal party memebers, guests, etc confused at where they are to be. Although the wedding has a small number of guests attending, miscommunication can still occur. If the schedule is too tight then there won’t be leeway for anyone to miss a beat. If the schedule is too lose then guests and the bridal party could get restless. In order to minimize that risk, the bridal party will be asked to go through a carefully detailed wedding rehersal prior to the dinner. The consultant will also go over each schedule carfully to fill in or open up any areas as needed. If any event goes over time, faciliators are to keep everything

running as smoothly as possible. The first point of contact in every event is Danielle McEwen. She will notifiy everyone of a second point of contact. No one is to take problems to the bride, groom, or their family members.
