1. The water The hydrosphere is made up of all the water on the earth. This includes the water in the seas, oceans, rivers, lakes, polar ice caps, groundwater and the water vapor in the atmosphere. Water is the most abundant resource on the earth. It can be found in a solid (ice), liquid (water) or gaseous (vapor) state. Water is the main component in the water cycle, but it is not an unlimited resource. Questions: (homework) 1. What is the hydrosphere? 2. What forms does water take? 2. An ocean is a large body of water that separates continents. Seas are the extension of the oceans in the areas closest to the continents.

- Fresh water: in the ground, in lakes and rivers, in icebergs and glaciers and in the atmosphere – 2.79% Rivers consist of water in constant move. The flow of a river is the amount of water it carries. This depends on the characteristics of the area that the river occupies. The flow regime of a river describes the variations in its flow throughout the year.

- If the river has a rainfall regime, its flow is affected by the amount of rain it receives.

- If the river has a melt regime, the water comes from melting snow.
