DEDICATION
For four long years you have encouraged (or prodded as the occasion demanded) us to a successful school life. Only you, with your wisdom, pat¬ ience, and love, could know that sometime in the dim future, we would re¬ alize just what you had done for us.
We do know now, in a small degree, that without your untiring efforts we could never have attained this goal along the road of life.
Yours has not been an easy task, we're sure. If we have seemed un¬ grateful, we know you have forgiven our shortcomings, because they are the universal faults resulting from youth and inexperience.
To you, then, Mrs. Banzet, this Warrentonian is dedicated with love and the assurance that you have not labored in vain. Your inspiration has led us thus far and points to a future limited only by our own ambition.
Your graciousness and kindness have helped to make our journey through high school more worth-while as well as more pleasant.
In deep appreciation of your untiring efforts, genuine interest and willing helpfulness, we fondly dedicate to you, Mr. Swann, this, The 1957 Warrentonian.
For you there will always be a place in our hearts and we will always remember your help in making our Junior-Senior Prom a success.

CLASS HISTORY
In the fall of 1952, we, the class of 57, as forty-nine baby bees with
only one ambition-to become mighty yellowjackets, broke out of our re¬
spective cells and started crawling shakily around in our Freshman year.
A few of the boldest bees joined their elders in clubs such as the Glee
Club, 4-H., F.F.A., F.H.A., F.T.A. and the monogram club. Two or
three even ventured into the sports field, thus starting at an early stage
their yellowjacket training. Our bee hive was much larger than our cells
and it was quite and adjustment for us to undertake, but with our queen
bee to guide us we made a successful start in our busy life.
As our wings gained strength we approached our Sophomore year
with great determination. The other bees deserted us and we progressed
slowly with only our trainers as our guide. Since we were not yet acknow¬
ledged as ful-fledged members of the great family, we were left to our
own tasks. The induction of seven of our female members into the Beta
Club won distinct recognition from our fellow bees and balanced us for
another great flight.
This flight brought us to the fall of our Junior year-the year that we
as seemingly full-fledged yellowjackets with stinging ambitions considered
the theme for our Junior-Senior Prom. After much buzzing around, our
choice was "April Showers" and with that we set to work and presented a
beautiful prom. The prom was not the only successful thing we did that
year. We had several boys who participated in sports and who were a
great help in making our team one of which we could be proud. Both
girls and boys were becoming leaders in extra curricula activities
and those who were not leaders were good followers.
With the coming of t h e school session of 56 and 57 we took our re¬
spective positions as senior yellowjackets . Our flighty antics and care¬
free ways were forgotten and we glided on experienced wings into our
Senior year. Of course our first big thrill of the year was receiving our
class rings inscribed with our own emblem-the yellowjacket. Everyone
also enjoyed producing our Senior Play-"Which Shall He Marry."
Then came the time to select our invitations and to start planning
our graduation exercises. We were also busy bees compiling our annual
and raising money to help us graduate.
Our tasks have not been easy. We have lost many of our fellow bees
along the wayside and we the class of '57 have not yet reached perfection
but there are many memories of our high school days which will never
be forgotten. These fond memories would not have been possible without
the love and guidance we received from our faculty and fellow students
and so it i s to them that we extend our wholehearted thanks for making
us full-fledged yellowjackets.

The Dean of Women, Mrs. Frank Banzet, of the Joseph Warren Junior College of
Warrenton, North Carolina, has invited her homeroom class of '57 to attend the Christ¬

couples and find all members of the class of '57 waltzing to the tune of "April Showers

CLASS POEM
Often, as we try to remember,
Our thoughts will turn to September.
Memory will bring into the light
The things which we did at our delight.
Youth will be the faithful story
Of our younger days in which we glory.
Then will come the high school years,
The cheerful smiles and some tears,
Striving and struggling at our best,
Hoping to be able to stand the test.
It was work but it was fun,
Now that we realize it is done.
To our parents, friends, and teachers, we
owe gratitude
For their careful guidance and friendly
attitude.
Wherever we are, and whatever we do,
Our thoughts shall always be of you--
Of how you taught us that love, work,
and happiness,
If we are ambitious, will bring success.
Now we say farewell to high school days,
For we must go our separate ways.
We say "thank you, everyone."
We know our lives have just begun.
God grant us the faith to conquer life's
doubts and fears,
And help us to use what we've learned through these years.
