The President also gave a brief talk on Om meditation and Pranayam. He demonstrated and adviced all present to chant Om for five minutes daily as it gives us self healing power, relaxes our mind, releases stress, good for heart, digestive system and ensures sound sleep. Om is amazingly beautiful frequency that acts as a cleansing agent for our body, removing negativity and toxicity from our body and mind. Prof Dr Gopal Krishan Prof Dr Gopal Krishan was formally introduced by Rtn Prof Dr IS Dua. Dr Gopal Krishan is a Professor Emeritus and a former Professor of Geography in Panjab University, Chandigarh. He was born on July 05, 1940 in Bhalowal, Sargodha, Pakistan. He is Bachelor with honors, Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy from Panjab University, Chandigarh. He is also Doctor of Science (honorary) from Pecs University, Hungary. His appointment in Panjab University has been as Instructor, Lecturer, Reader and Professor. He has held many important academic and professional assignments in India and abroad in USA, UK etc. He has also authored many books and completed large number of research projects. Prof Dr Gopal Krishan explained that nation-state derives identity and sustains progression through its vitality. Conceptualizing, identifying and measuring vitality is therefore of utmost importance. As mentioned in his book, ‘The Vitality of India’, he looks at the vitality of India in time- space perspective. This vitality is found grounded in the strength and salience of its constituents. Using the country’s sub-national units of states and union territories as the bedrock of analysis, the vitality has been referred to the critical parameters of the quality of governance, economic dynamism, management of multi-culturalism and flow of diaspora, among other things. Each parameter is made to stand the test of its contribution yet is not isolated from the context. The Professor has made great efforts to capture all such realities of India through a search for spatial variations in vitality of India. Prof Dr Gopal Krishan’s book should be of great interest not only to students and scholars of social sciences in general and of geography in particular, but also to the policy makers. Global Grant Happy School Project

GMSSS Sector 35, Chandigarh

On 27.02.2019 our club inaugurated facilities provided

at this school. Rtn Renu Chopra gave demonstration on

hand washing. In his address President Ashok Puri

spoke about the role of Rotary in polio eradication.

School bags were given to 15 meritorious students.

Principal Mrs Ravinder Kaur thanked Rotarians for the

support. Other Rotarians present were PP Vinod Jawa,

Rtn Prof Rana Nayar and PP Amarjit Singh.

Govt Middle School, Abheypur, Panchkula

On 01.03.2019 our club inaugurated the hand wash

station at this School. Students gave demonstration on

hand washing techniques and also presented an

impressive skit on defeating use of plastic. On behalf of

the school, Headmistress Mrs Sudershana Devi issued a

letter of gratitude addressed to our President. Rotarians
