I Have Some Good News…
If you remember back to the season of Advent, Pastor Ben and I shared with you that this year in worship we will read a lot from the book of Mark. We began our first week focusing on the very beginning when Mark announces, “This is the beginning of the good news…” While we took a break from Mark when we entered into Lent and the Easter Season, we are now jumping back into the book of Mark for the beginning of the summer.
Just as Mark began by stating, “I have good news to share”, I too, want to begin by saying “I also have good news to share!” This summer, we have great worship opportunities at Holy Trinity that we want you to know about (both on Sundays and Wednesdays).
A New Worship Series Begins: Following Jesus In June, we are jumping back into the book of Mark for our worship series called, “Following Jesus.” We are going to pick up where we left off and walk through one story at a time in the book of Mark. So, again, we will take our Bibles out of the sanctuary chairs and dig deep into the stories together.
Weekly Wednesday Worship: Holy Trinity Unplugged On Wednesday evenings this summer, we will continue offering a meal at 5 pm prepared by the incredible Hospitality Team. Worship will continue at 6 pm and we are calling it Holy Trinity Unplugged as it is acoustic worship led by Tim Price with an informal set-up and style. Come as you are from work or from playing outside!
4th Wednesdays of the Month Worship: Holy Trinity Lakeside
On the 4th Wednesday of June/July/August, we are launching a Lakeside Service called Holy Trinity Lakeside at Cedar Lake Park. We will have a picnic style meal provided at 5 pm in the pavilion and worship to follow at 6. Cedar Lake Park is beautiful and acces-sible with paved paths both to the pavilion and worship area. We want to challenge you to not only mark your calendars for these Lakeside Services, but also to invite
others to join you! This is a unique opportunity to invite others to be a part of the Holy Trinity community! *In case of inclement weather, we will have worship at Holy Trinity.
Friends, we have great worship opportunities at Holy Trinity this summer. God has blessed us with gifted musicians, worship leaders and volunteers! Mark your calendars and invite others to come and experience the good news that Mark has to share this summer!
In Christ, Pastor Alicia

The best building time would be July/August – with three to four weeks. Steps include the drawing, engineer, inspection. We may be able to share engineering costs with neighbor. Winn made a motion to allocate up to $8,000 (paid from capital fund) for HTLC 1st Street SE engineering process. Berger seconded. Motion passed. Dan’s Council letter to the Holy Trinitarians (June 2018)
Blessings to you All,
My name is Dan Jacobson and I consider myself blessed to be part of such a special
Church and congregation. I have been serving on our Church Council for about a year and a
half now. In addition to serving on our Church Council I am head of a Communications Team for
our Church. This is fairly new team established to improve both internal as well as external com-
munications. The Communications team currently consists of 6 members. They are Pastor Alicia,
Deb Lindblom and her daughter Abby, Mary Busch, my daughter Bethany Jacobson and myself. I
felt it is very important to involve our youth in this team to help spread the word about our be-
loved Church and assist the team in keeping up with the ever changing trends of social media. It
is always a blessing to see so many new faces in our congregation. With that being said, I want
to inform you all that we are in the beginning stages of planning to update our directory. I have
reached out to Lifetouch, the same company that has done our directories in the past. Our new
directory will be able to be updateable, which means we won’t have to wait 5 years for the next
directory. An additional new and exciting change will be a mobile directory. This will allow an ad-
ditional resource to have at your fingertips to view our directory as well as many other capabili-
ties. In the near future, I will be doing a Mission Moment to better show you how exciting these
new changes will be.
Blessings to All,
Dan Jacobson

THANK YOU to Holy Trinity for
helping to support Pastor Jorge
Espinoza as he gets ready to
launch the Latino ministry in the
Scott county area. This year,
Holy Trinity has committed to
tithing 10% of it's offerings,
meaning 10% of the money giv-
en to the church will be given
away. Because of your gifts, we
are able to support Pastor Jorge's ministry with $5000! Way to
go! Also, thanks to local high school Spanish teacher Kari
Schroeder for being willing to translate for our worship service.

Volunteers of the Month
Call me biased, but I think we have the best music during worship in town. We are blessed with a very
musical congregation with talents aplenty. Sometimes, we are doubly blessed to have a soloist backed up by
our amazing Worship Team and it turns into a “goosebump” moment. How lucky are we!
This month, I’d like to recognize the talented members of the Holy Trinity Choir, the Handbell Choir and
the amazing vocal and instrumental soloists and small ensembles we have in our church. Every week, we are
blessed with some sort of special music. On Wednesday evenings, we hear the elementary and middle school
kids making beautiful music. It is truly awesome to hear and see everyone giving their best to make a joyful
noise unto the Lord!
If you are interested in making your own joyful noise during worship, please connect with Rose Fife,
Music Coordinator, via email at [email protected] or call 952-758-3513.
If you are looking for more ways to give back to our church as a Worship Assistant, please connect with
Karen Taylor before or after worship services or email [email protected] or call Jamie Bisek, Of-
fice Manager at 952-758-3513.
Blessings to you and your family,
Karen Taylor, Ministry Coordinator
Don't forget to mark your calendars for Holy Trinity's
2018 Vacation Bible School, from July 9th-12th! This
year, our theme is Babylon, and we'll learn about the
story of Daniel's courage in captivity. VBS runs
from 9:00am to noon, and you can register online
at www.holytrinityonline.org.
An Invitation to Help Elementary Students -
During the month of June, HTLC is collecting Boxes of Granola Bars for the Peace Center in New Prague. At the Peace Center, the Granola Bars will be added to the food/snack take home backpacks for elementary students. Backpacks are for students each weekend during the summer months.
All HTLC members, youngsters - adults, are invited to be a part of the needed collection. Boxes of Granola Bars can be dropped off in the basket provided at the Welcome Center.
Donations will be received June 1- June 30, 2018.
Happy Summer to our Youth! We had a great time with our monthly activities this year and at our last activity (the New Prague Half Marathon Water Sta-tion) we made $150 to donate. We decided to donate that $ to the youth who will be traveling later this month to the ELCA National Youth Gathering! As we pause our activities for the summer, we will be making some changes for the next year. Melissa will be stepping down as the monthly youth group activity planner and will instead be focusing on how to plan wonderful activities to get the entire congregation active as one with Pastor Alicia and Pastor Ben. So be on the look-out in the fall for activities, but ones where we can include our entire church family! Come to worship this summer and give us ideas of what kinds of activities you would like to see our whole congregation be a part of. It will be amazing!
THANK YOU to Joe Taylor, Liam Fife, McKenzie Holgate, Abby Nielsen, Catie Skaja who helped with this year's Sen-
ior service on Pente-cost Sunday. What a great way to
hear the Gospel speaking through new voices in our midst! God's blessings to each of you as you embark on the new
journeys ahead.
SONSHINE: Thanks to all who helped make the last
month of Sonshine a good month for the kids. As school
came to a close, the kids got ready for summer with a bike
blessing. While Holy Trinity is sad to see this ministry
come to a close, we are grateful for the impact Sonshine
has made over the last 20 years!

HTLC PARK & POPSICLES Let's celebrate summer!
At 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 3rd- children's ministry families (birth - entering 5th grade) are invited to gather at Memorial Park at the playground to play at the park and have popsi-cles. This is simply a time to get to know other kids and families of the church and to celebrate summer! This is a family event, so children need to be accompanied by an adult. Feel free to invite another family!

Holy Trinity Lakeside
Save the dates! This first year, we're going to have 3 Lakeside
services at Cedar Lake Park, so please mark
your calendars for the 4th Wednesdays of
the month: June 27, July 25, and August
22. Let's pack the park!
We are so thankful and blessed to have been part of the 2018 Minneapolis Area Syn-
od Assembly which was held at the Lord of Life Church in the northern suburb of
Ramsey. Approximately 600 people representing 153 churches of the Minneapolis
Synod gathered for the annual meeting. The Minneapolis Synod is the largest of six
synods throughout the state of Minnesota. There are 65 synods of the ELCA through-
out the United States.
Along with getting to know Pastor Alicia better, we also met and heard many wonder-
ful and wise spirit filled people.
One of the major events of this year's assembly was the voting for the bishop of our synod. Bishop Ann Svennungsen was
reelected for a second term of 6 years. Our own Dirk Berger was also elected to represent Holy Trinity as a voting member
of the 2019 Church Wide Assembly to be held in Milwaukee later this year.
Our synod and worldwide church is and will continue to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. Thanks be to God
Love, hope, peace, faith and joy to all.
Bob and Barb Gullickson
Middle School Youth Group
went to Feed My Starving
Children on Friday, April 27th.
They packed enough food to
feed 49 kids for a year! Won-
derful job to all who partici-
pated!
LOVE TO SING OR PLAY AN INSTRUMENT? If you are interested in providing Special Music this summer, please email Rose at [email protected] . We'd love for you to share your talents. All are wel-come!
Remember that name? Sara was going to come and
help lead worship this winter, but she turned around
after she got stuck in a snowstorm! As we've been
looking for a date to reschedule, she heard about the
Holy Trinity Lakeside services, and said- "I'd love to do
that!" Come hear this fantastic worship leader
on Wednesday, June 27th as she teams up with acoustic guitarist Tim Price as we wor-
ship out at Cedar Lake Regional Park! Dinner at 5pm, and worship at 6pm!

Prayer Shawl Ministry update
Submitted by Kim Gassner
We knit or crochet shawls to help provide comfort or mark a special occasion. We provide prayer shawls to individuals due to death, illness,
other traumatic events, or to celebrate a baptism. Since January 2018 we have given out 9 baptismal shawls and 22 prayer shawls. Anyone may re-
quest a shawl. Sometimes we know the recipient personally and sometimes we do not.
The Holy Trinity Prayer Shawl Ministry held our first meeting on Saturday, January 13, 2018. We meet the second Saturday of each month at
9 a.m. in the Fireside Room. Yes, we will be meeting during the summer months. Meetings are very informal and attendees come and go as their
schedule allows. We knit or crochet shawls, but the monthly meetings also allow us to get to know others in our congregation on a more personal level.
Every level of skill is welcome. If you want to learn how to knit or crochet and participate in the ministry, come to a meeting and we will get you started.
I have heard comments like, “I knit, but I am not very good”, or “I used to knit but haven’t in a long time”. It reminds me of a lesson learned a long time
ago, in a hardanger class when some of us were struggling over mistakes in our stitching. The instructor said no project is ever without a mistake, as
God is the only one who is perfect. So, if you want to learn or haven’t knit or crocheted in a long time, come to a meeting and get started.
There is no right or wrong way to make a prayer shawl. It comes from the heart. For me, as the repetitive motion of the knitting pattern takes
over my mind, and I hear the quiet click of my needles when I move a stitch from one to the other, I feel a calm presence in my life. I pray for the recipi-
ent, if I know who it is, or general good thoughts and prayers, if it is a prayer shawl to add to our “stash”. I feel like while we are doing something for
others, we are also doing something for ourselves. Causing us to slow down and pray.
Everyone is busy and you might not have time to regularly attend meetings. If you would like to knit or crochet prayer shawls, there is yarn
stored in a cupboard in the Fireside Room. Feel free to take yarn and when you have completed a shawl return it to Jamie in the church office.
The prayer shawl ministry received a Thrivent Action Team grant which has allowed us to purchase yarn and other materials needed for our
mission. You might see some of us around wearing our Thrivent action team t shirts.
If you know someone who has a need for a prayer shawl, there are prayer shawl request forms in the box outside the church office, you can contact Jamie in the church office or email [email protected] or [email protected]
We will be doing a mission moment in the fall to further explain the ministry and will be having a prayer
shawl blessing at that time.
In the meantime if you have any questions you can contact either Kate Kienow or myself.
