“It’s so much fun we don’t need booze,” explained Jack Kilroy, President of the nonprofit Sober Seventeenth, Inc. “But seriously, we help people in recovery prevent relapse by providing a counterpoint to the pervasive drunken Irish stereotype. Plus, we give families a chance to show their children authentic Irish culture meant to honor the patron saint of Ireland, away from the sea of alcohol that has tradi-tionally flooded the day. “We’re so pleased to be partnering with Sober Sev-enteen”, said Thomas D. Stuber, President & CEO of The LCADA Way. “The night is sure to be a great time for our customers, families and their friends.” The event showcased County Mayo’s number one sing-

The North Coast Chamber of Com-merce hosted the annual State of Cities Luncheon at Tom’s Country Place in Avon the afternoon of March 14. Featuring the Mayors of Avon, Avon Lake, Sheffield and Sheffield Lake, the atti-tude of gratitude was most prevalent in the addresses from each community mayor. Avon Mayor Bryan Jensen set the tone as - unbeknownst to the several hundred guests in attendance - he served lunch dis-guised as a waiter! He took to the podium to the aston-ishment of guests who failed to recognize him as he served and cleared tables. He then delivered his message of embracing diversity by turning his talk over to Avon High students, who produced a video of community highlights. “I think the kids get it right,” said
