VEKA started in Germany more than four decades ago, quickly gaining renown for its pioneering systems design – considered the benchmark against which others are judged. It is now the world’s largest manufacturer of extruded PVC-U products, with 25 factories across Europe, Asia, America and Russia.

VEKA’s UK arm was established in 1986. It acquired Bowater Building Products in 2011, extending its PVC-U door and window range to include the renowned Halo profile, and consolidating its composite door offering under the name Bowater Doors. Bowater Projects and Bowater Architectural allowed the Group to diversify, catering for and managing large-scale construction projects for the education, health, residential, and commercial sectors.

Burnley is home to The VEKA UK Group HQ, where a £5m mixing plant – the most technically advanced in the UK – was opened in 2014 by Vince Cable MP. He praised the company for its commitment to UK industry and investment of more than £15m in two years, calling it “a European success story.”

Environmental responsibility is high on The VEKA UK Group’s list of priorities. It led the way in replacing lead stabilisers in its products, independently developing organic alternatives that promote health, safety and environmental benefits. The UK’s first BRFC ‘A’-rated window

used VEKA profile – coincidentally fabricated by a founder member of Network VEKA.

A dedicated recycling plant – processing used PVC-U to create VEKA’s innovative Infinity profile – is strategically located in Kent to optimise transport links. Fleet vehicles are operated over the shortest viable routes and fuelled, where possible, with LPG – cutting mileages and reducing emissions.
