PERKS OF BEING A GRAD STUDENT
Higher Education Teaching Certificate (HETC)
The HETC is designed for current graduate studies, honours students, or recent alumni
wanting to prepare for teaching responsibilities in a university setting. It is intended to be
an introduction to the teaching culture of academia, providing a foundation for the theory
and practice of higher education and pedagogy. This certificate emphasizes course
preparation, communication and presentation skills.
This part time program includes two 18 hour courses and a student-designed practicum.
Graduate Studies pays two-thirds of tuition for current UW graduate student and
recent alumni who register for the program.
