Objectives

• Integration of satellite rainfall data into HEC-HMS

• How far can satellite data be downscaled?

• What NASA products are the most effective for estimating rainfall?

• Can we connect HEC-HMS with HAZUS?

Tasks

• Calibrate HEC-HMS model for basins in the study

• Complete comparison of results for all three basins

Why these basins ?

• Each is within different climate zones as defined by the NEON project

• Each represent differing geology and topology

• Upper Cumberland River, TN– mountainous

• Upper Yazoo Basin, MS– low land interior

• Lower Pearl River, MS– coastal

Conclusions

• Cumberland and Upper Yazoo complete

• Pearl River modified to minimize coastal influence

• Models calibrated and completed

• Two articles on rainfall simulation published

• 3B42 product bette
