Step inside Kluger and you’ll discover a welcoming environment where function and form blend in effortless style. This luxurious interior easily accommodates seven people in comfort and provides easy access for all onboard.

High quality finishes abound, with decorative surfaces featuring either an elegant woodgrain-look with silver-toned highlights in the Grande, or a modern silver metal-look theme in the GX and GXL models.

Beneath the instrument panel you’ll find a wide shelf providing generous storage for larger items that’s also designed to prevent the contents from slipping out. Between the front seats, the centre console still provides a comfortable armrest for the front passengers, even when the wide sliding lid is open.

The seating arrangements can also be changed quickly and configured to handle many different combinations of passengers and loads.

The smart entry and start system fitted to the GXL and Grande models makes it easy to get on the move, even when your keys are still in your pocket or bag. Whatever your destination, you’ll always stay cool in the GX with air conditioning featuring front and rear control with third row air vents, and in the GXL and Grande, 3-zone climate control is fitted as standard.

The front seats can be adjusted to suit your preferred seating position with lumbar adjustment (only available on GXL and Grande models) on the driver’s seat too. They are also heated in the GXL, and Grande features the cool comfort of seat ventilation.

The six speaker AM/FM CD audio system features USB,5 iPod®6 and AUX inputs5 plus Bluetooth®1 connectivity. In the GXL and Grande, this steps up to include an integrated 8" LCD screen with digital radio,7 while in the Grande rear passengers can enjoy Blu-ray™ rear seat entertainment on a 9" LCD screen, while listening on the three wireless headsets.

When out on the open road, you'll have the convenience of Active Cruise Control,3 which automatically maintains a constant distance between you and the vehicle ahead. Then when parking, the reversing camera2 will clearly display the location of any obstacles on the LCD screen while the rear parking sensors2 also provide an audible warning.

Even with all its family comforts, Kluger is blessed with plenty of performance and power. The 3.5 litre engine featuring Dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) and Direct Injection (D4S) is exceptionally smooth and remarkably quiet. While you sit peacefully inside Kluger, this highly refined engine effortlessly delivers 218kW8 of power and a gutsy 350Nm8 of torque, giving all the muscle you need to handle a 2,000kg braked towing capacity9 with ease.

And all this power is delivered through a silky

smooth 8-speed automatic transmission. On every All Wheel Drive (AWD) Kluger, the Dynamic Torque Control system automatically balances the drive force distribution between the front and rear wheels to achieve optimum grip on uneven surfaces. It also assists when cornering by balancing the drive according to your steering angle and speed, to help keep you tracking smoothly around the bend.

So when you’re travelling on testing road surfaces such as in the ski fields or accessing

an out-of-the-way camping ground, you can be confident Kluger has what it takes to help you reach your destination.

Such assured control is further enhanced by the advanced suspension found on all Kluger models. The MacPherson Strut front and trailing arm double wishbone rear suspension have been finely tuned to ensure stability with outstanding ride comfort and handling, as well as reduced noise and vibration.

In the event that your car drifts from its lane, this presents a serious safety hazard. This is where Lane Departure Alert (LDA) helps. It provides a visible and audible alert should you inadvertently deviate from your lane, helping keep you, your passengers and other vehicles safe.

Leaving your headlights on high beam can be a hazardous distraction to other drivers. By using a camera to sense either approaching headlights or the taillights ahead, Automatic High Beam (AHB) will switch between high and low beam as needed to help you maintain safe and considerate driving.

Keeping a constant distance between vehicles helps make driving safer. By using a milliwave radar to constantly monitor the gap, Active Cruise Control (ACC) will maintain a set space from the vehicle in front, automatically accelerating or slowing down to compensate for the vehicle in front varying its speed.

The road is an unpredictable place – you can never be certain of what dangers may lie ahead. Which is why we developed Toyota Safety Sense+ (TSS+),1 a multi-feature active safety package to help keep you and your passengers out of harm’s way. TSS+ incorporates Lane Departure Alert, Pre-Collision Safety system,

Automatic High Beam and Active Cruise Control.

With automated pre-collision warning and braking at its core, TSS+ uses intuitive technology to sense danger, providing greater reassurance to the driver and extra protection for passengers across a varying range of driving speeds and conditions.

Pre-Collision Safety system (PCS) with pedestrian detection employs Forward Collision Warning (FCW) to alert you to threats ahead. During braking, Brake Assist (BA) applies additional force, and if necessary, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) activates to reduce speed and mitigate impact for vehicles and pedestrians.

When carrying something as precious as your family, you need the reassurance of knowing you have the latest in safety advances to protect you.

With seven SRS airbags as standard across the Kluger range, all rows of seats are protected with a combination of front seat side and two curtain airbags.

Active safety features in the range include the Pre-Collision Safety system3 (PCS) that can sense obstacles on the road ahead. If a collision is possible, it will warn the driver, and if the collision is unavoidable, it will automatically begin to activate the brake system. When changing lanes in the GXL or Grande, the Blind Spot Monitor2 (BSM) uses radar sensors to warn of any vehicles located in your blind spot.

As well as a 5 star ANCAP safety rating, you’ll also have Traction Control (TRC) to help avoid wheel spin on slippery roads or loose surfaces and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) that uses electronic sensors to help control skidding on slippery surfaces.

When it’s time to brake, you’ll have the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) to maximise braking efficiency to the wheel(s) that need it most. Brake Assist3 (BA) will also help assist the driver to apply extra brake pressure in the event of an emergency to ensure the shortest and safest possible braking distance.
